My apologies if this has been discussed at length before, but I found some of the WM 26 basic figures at a TRU today and it really hit me that this set could've been a lot better under different circumstances. Now, I'm a big fan of just about everything Mattel has put out so far, so this is my first time that I've been disappointed in a set (I did pick up a Jericho and Kane).
Mostly, I'm disappointed in the choices for the WM 26 figures. I know we've seen some prototypes for some type of Shawn Michaels from the PPV, but who knows if/when that will ever be out. But Michaels and Undertaker put on a match for the ages - clearly the highlight of WM 26 - and there's no Michaels figure and the Undertaker figure isn't accurate to the PPV (with the corny undefeated shirt that he's never worn). When I think WM 26, I think of those two, and that's probably my biggest disappointment.
I was glad to pick up a Jericho, but given that he had a great contest against Edge, it's disappointing that there's no Edge. I understand it's a similar outfit to his RR figure, but in opposite colors, but still it would be really nice to have the two figures to go together.
And while some of us had gripes about the Bret/McMahon match (myself included), it was one of the big matches for the evening - and neither was represented in the set. So if you're looking at the four main events of WM 26, only three (Jericho, Cena and Batista) were represented in this set accurately (excluding the Undertaker because it doesn't come with the robe or his real attire worn that night). I doubt anyone really needs more Shelton Benjamins or other mid-carders from the MIB event (except for maybe McIntyre because it's a new outfit).
I understand why, for copyright purposes, they couldn't do a CM Punk in the GI Joe camo - but that would've been a favorite among collectors, which is a shame.
Last but not least is the Jack Swagger elite figure. The headscan isn't great and something just seems off with the body, in my opinion ... and for an elite, it would've been nice if it came with the cape that he wore at the event during his entrance. I know you can't win them all, but it would've been nice.
I will say that the Elite Mysterio looks very nice and I look forward to picking one of those up.
Just wanted to put some of these thoughts out there on this set ... still love what mattel's doing, don't get me wrong, but wanted to get some of that off my chest and see what others thought. Thanks ...
Mark

Mattel has explained all of this before, and the HBK from that event is being released in the Defining Moments line.

the only one i'm disappointed in is shelton. he's been gone almost 5 months and they could have easily switched him out with another guy from the MITB match like MVP or Dolph

I know they've explained a lot of it ... but I still think if you're releasing a WM 26 exclusive set you should either take some extra time or cut costs elsewhere in it (again, less sheltons and matt hardys) to at least get the main guys out in it. I guess that's my main point. Also, did they definitely confirm that it's going to be a defining moments figure? I've seen the prototypes, so I assumed so, but still ... and I know we're getting the WM 25 Michaels as the first defining moments figure. Thanks for the info though if that's indeed the case!

Maybe I'm just an understanding guy, but they could have easily given us 6 Basic repaints and no Elites or 2-Packs, so I'm not going to gripe about what they've given us. My only disappointment with the set is that they didn't give Rey the long braid coming from his mask, especially since it was part of his in-ring gear and not just his entrance attire...plus the whole point is that he's Avatar Rey and now he's just blue zebra stripe Rey.

Mattel has explained all of this before, and the HBK from that event is being released in the Defining Moments line.No it's not. The Defining Moments HBK is from WrestleMania 25, and the DM figures are Elite style. We saw a prototype image of a WM26 Shawn Michaels basic figure, and I don't think we've ever had an explanation from Mattel for when/how that's being released.

According to TRU there's a WM26 HBK coming it has it's own peg at TRU. The peg says "WrestleMania XXVI Shawn Michaels" $9.99
As for the Taker I could care less about the shirt I want it for the attire. I love the blue logo and will be picking it up and I've passed on the Elite Series 5 Swagger in favor of this one when it hits my area TRU. They are the only 2 WM26 Elites I want.

Extra time would have been nice, but here is what Mattel said verbatim: Bill again, other members of the team will use this user name as well, but so far I am the only one to post here so far. Due to the compressed nature of the timelines between when Undertaker came out in the hooded robe and when the WM 26 Elite figures would reach the shelves we did not have time to develop the robe as an accessory. This wave was planned as a redeco wave late last year, when soft goods development for the wave had to begin in order for it to hit retail on time. The initial plan was for all our Elite WM 26 figures was for them to include commemorative T-shirts, but this plan was changed to include more personalized accessories for Rey Mysterio and Jack Swagger using already existing parts, repurposed to be more appropriate to each superstar. Triple H as you can see retains the shirt. Undertaker was to include this shirt as well, but it did not seem as appropriate to him, so it was changed to a shirt that celebrated the continuation of the streak. So that is why Undertaker does not have the robe. If it becomes a regular entrance gear of his there would be a good chance it would be included as an accessory at some point. Thanks Bill Mattel has explained all of this before, and the HBK from that event is being released in the Defining Moments line.No it's not. You're totally right dude, I just had a sudden case of "stupid" wash over me and forgot. My bad.

I think they did a great job on the WM sets. I picked up Shelton, Hardy, Kane and Jericho yesterday. I'm waiting for the rest of the singles and the HBK if it does indeed come out, and if it does I'll do one MOC and one loose. From the Elite set I'll get Swagger and from the 2-packs, I might get R-Truth and Morrison.

But another thing is the late arrival first time i was looking forward to it but not not much

I think they could have done a better job planning the sets.
We didn't need 2 packs of Big Show and Miz, AND R-Truth and John Morrison.
Undertaker and Shawn Michaels headlined the PPV, they should have been a 2-pack. Having the Undertaker as an Elite was a waste because it's not even as good as his Series 1 Elite figure because the accessory with his WM Elite is not accurate in anyway.

You say that stuff about all the other figures yet say Rey looks "nice"? Rey is one of the most inaccurate and disappointing figures in the line at least in my opinion.
The orange color used is not bright enough, there is no detail on his arm gauntlet, he's missing the ponytail/braids on the back of his mask and he's still missing the prayer tattoo on his side.

Agree with Lorezno 100 percent.
Toxic - I'm not a big mysterio fan so I didn't spent a lot of time analyzing his figure personally. Hence, on first glance, why I thought it looked "nice." Just my two cents. I understand where you're coming from, though.

These figures are kinda disappointing, but look at it this way, remember how bad some of the Jakks Wrestlemania figures at TRU were?
I do find myself passing on more and more Mattel figures as the line goes on, though. But I still spent a buttload of cash at TRU the other day (Rey 6-pack, Legends 2-pack, etc).

i like how no one takes the time to think that these figures take time to plan out probably months before they hit the store shelves so of course things are going to change in real time than production time. i could only imagine the cost Mattel would take if they stopped in the middle of production to update the figures & accessories, then the prices of the figures would go up just to make up the lost money and we would have a whole new topic for that.

I'm fine with the sets to be honest. We got the explanation as to why UT & HHH are the way they are, so there's no complaining there.
The thing that's bugging me the most about the line is when I went to TRU today and they had stocked only Basic Kane, Shelton, Hardy & Jericho. Why don't the cases have Christian & Drew?
