Recentley,i've been watching old USWA and NWA tapings on YouTube from those TV studio tapings in Memphis. I had a weird thought cuz i never saw any on site ring announcers announce the participants and winners of each match. So,how did the crowds at those tapings know who was who and who won what?

The studios in Mid Atlantic and Georgia Championship Wrestling (NWA) were so small that you could hear the announcers. If you catch some old Mid Atlantic from the early 80s Bob Caudle actually does "tv announcing" but either it was piped in through speakers or it just wasnt loud you could hear him. The same for the Crockett days. Notice the sound never changed for an interview either yet the fans always responded to wrestlers interviews.

Yeah and in some of those NWA tapings whenever someone was cutting an interview, wrestlers would be going into the ring which you could hear by the fan's response. |
