Ryan Bader vs. Jon Jones targeted for UFC 127 in February
A matchup between two of the brightest prospects in the UFC's light heavyweight division appears likely for early 2011.
A long-discussed contest between "The Ultimate Fighter 8" winner Ryan Bader (12-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) and the dynamic 23-year-old Jon Jones (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) appears likely for the as-yet-unannounced UFC 127 event.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) learned of the planned date from sources close to the event.
UFC 127 is expected to take place Feb. 5 in Las Vegas and feature a middleweight title fight between current champion Anderson Silva and dangerous striker Vitor Belfort.

Yes, loss number one in the UFC for Bader. Bones is on his way to a title shot, this should be a great fight.

Round 1 KO for Jones. I love Bader, but he doesn't stand a chance.

While I'm sure I'll get more excited for the fight as it draws closer, I'm not too thrilled over it at the moment.
I like Bader, but I'm still just a bit underwhelmed by his performance against Lil Nog. The tactics he used to avoid being hit by Lil Nog, while at the same time getting cheap points with the Judges, will not work so easily with Jones. I think Jones will either stop him easily, or get the UD after 3 rounds of Bader being really gun shy.

I guess I'm in the minority that thinks Bader actually beats Jones? I like both fighters, I just think Bader is going to make him fight off his back a lot more than Bones would like to.
I'm calling Bader by unanimous decision. Though I really wouldn't be surprised to see it be such a close fight that it's split.

Honestly Jones via unanimous. I don't think you guys are giving Bader enough recognition. Do I see him beating Jones? No, but he will put up a fight.

Bader is a badass and one of my favorite fighters but I think Jones will KO Bader here. Jones is far more aggressive than anyone bader has fought so far.

I was dreading this. I like Jones, but love Bader. Sadly, I think Jones will take this.

Is Bones hurt? 8 months is quite the layoff between fights if he's healthy, even Bader waiting 6 months. Jeez.

can't f***ing wait. Bones wins this I believe. He has made some extremely good wrestlers look like they had no idea what they were doing. I think this will go to the third round though.

This fight sounds awesome but I dont understand why they dont have Jones facing guys like Franklin/Silva/Griffin. He is a really good fighter and i dont see why he is still fighting guys like Vera and Bader.

He is a really good fighter and i dont see why he is still fighting guys like Vera and Bader. You do realize Bader is 12-0 and is coming off a win over a VERY good Lil' Nog, right? I don't see how any of the 3 guys you mentioned (maybe Franklin) are a bigger win right now than Bader (if Jones does win, that is). Especially Thiago Silva.
