Ok, here's my quandry. I turn 37 next week, and I have two sons(one is 4 1/2 and the other is 2 1/2) who are really into WWE figures (they spent nearly two hours doing Buried Alive matches in the wood chips today). Am I too old to be buying WWE Legends figures for my own collection (I do let my sons play with them)? I have broken down and bought Sheik, Kamala, and Steamboat. I'd really like to get the figures from the mid-to-late 1980s (the best era ever) like Slaughter, Rude, Snuka, Jake the Snake, Hacksaw, Perfect, etc. Guys like Austin and Rock are easy to pass on. I'm having trouble convincing my wife this is a legit hobby. What should I do?

Just tell her its a passion you have and reminds you of your childhood and growing up. And all the good memories seeing those guys bring back for you when you see them. Beyond that im not really sure what could be said just hopefully she understands and you can collect them like you want.
And also you are never too old to collect anything i see 60 year olds fighting over hot wheels as long as you don't end up like that it should be a pretty good hobby if you just have fun with it.

Divorce her! LMAO....But seriously, Im 31 and Im a Hardcore collector who opens his figures, fiddles with them and displays them. My wife just bought her 1st figure (Elite Randy Orton) so I guess I should consider myself lucky that I found someone who puts up with my figure addiction. In regards to this being a legit hobby, just point to the forums page here! Hopefully she will get the point.

Ask her if she'd rather you be spending the money on drugs.

It's difficult isn't it? I decided to stop collecting when I was 17 and decided that I needed money for university and couldn't afford to go out spending money on new figures every week. Since then I've found it very difficult to stay away with the change over to Mattel and the sudden burst of fantastic figures.
There are people of all ages collecting all manner of things. What you have is no different to any other hobby.
I can understand why you would feel like, as a man with children, you're too old to do this, but you have a wife who promised to love you no matter what, and I don't think allowing you to collect figures without ridicule is too much to ask from the mother of your children.
But if you yourself are embarrassed by the hobby then it's all up to you.
But if you're just enjoying reliving your childhood or whatever then it's harmless.

erm... Hard one but she should understand and you should do what makes you happy.
There's worse things you can be into...
I know women who collect duck & elephant little statues..
Just explain to her that you enjoy it and that you'd/you are suppotive of her intrest's as long as its not sleeping with over men... (unless your into that?)

If collecting figures makes you happy, it should make her happy too.
I get that she might think it's a waste of money, but like others have said, there's plenty worse things you could be spending cash on.

This is why i love this forum. We all have the same love, and its just an upsession we have with WWE figs. And i think more and more ppl who work in stores like Kmart and Toysrus, know that WWE Figs aren't just for little kids anymore, its also for older crowds as well. I went with my mom to Kmart today and she started looking at barbies, lol. WWE Figs and Barbies are old school, historian figs that will last for years to come. And i'm 22 and i love it. My cuzin was deep into his in late 20's and he use to buy as well. And don't ever be scared of what ppl will say, just act like how you really feel about it............like theres nothing wrong. My friends wish they can buy figs again.

Ask her if she'd rather you be spending the money on drugs. or ur time with another woman. anyway if u like it u should do it. its only really a problem if she leaves u because of it and if she does than maybe shes not for u anyway. btw i came into this thread thinking u were gonna ask about how old is too old for legends figures. like if someone from the 40s is too old to be made into a figure lol

If your SO gets upset at you for a hobby you have.. you may want to evaluate if this person is the right person for you.
Sure, you could give up your wrestling figures.. but what is it that you love that she or he will want you to give up next?
I genuinely believe that when you're in a relationship with someone and that person "demands" that you change things... it's time to step back and evaluate exactly what's going on.

I'm 33 (with one son) and I still collect both current & legend figures. My wife has learned to just accept it as a way of life. Every once in awhile if there are several sets released at one time she might act a little iffy on it, but she usually lets me* buy them anyway. * Yes I'm aware I said "lets me", cause I'm a man who asks for permission to buy my toys. Please don't judge!

I'm 32, with a 7 month-old and he's going to grow up with a house full of toys. Sure my wife isn't over the moon about my collecting, but she knows it's a hobby and wrestling is a passion. It helps that I've pretty much completed my modest ARAH G.I. Joe Collection and now the only thing to collect is Mattel Legends for me. I've got a set of Galoobs and Hasbros w/ring when he's a bit older to knock them around.
I'd suggest showing your wife this thread, at least let her see that you're not the only one in this age-range that collects. And we all share the same struggles.
Keep the 80s alive!

I'm about to be 32. If it isn't hurting your financial situation and she's still not cool with it then she needs 2 b set straight.

How old is too old to be putting together model airplanes and train sets? 70 year old men do that when they retire (and those ships in a bottle). You are never too old for anything except $#!tting yourself (then you get old enough to do that again as well). I don't know why a spouse should care. If your hobby embarrasses them then that's their problem.

Tell her that you're either gonna buy figures or spend the money on strippers on the weekends. Her decision
