UFC 125's Chris Leben Reportedly Arrested on DUI Suspicion by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Oct 21, 2010 at 8:55 am ET
UFC middleweight Chris Leben reportedly was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant.
That's according to Hawaii News Now (KGMB and KHNL), which reported Leben lost control of his pickup truck before crashing into a wall in Honolulu.
Leben, who's currently enjoying a career resurgence and three-fight win streak in the UFC, recently was announced for the Jan. 1 UFC 125 card, where he meets Brian Stann.
According to the report, Leben posted $1,000 bail and was released. He also is accused of driving without a license and proof on insurance.
"The Ultimate Fighter 1" cast member is scheduled to appear in Honolulu District Court on Nov. 22.
Another DUI offense led him to a brief jail stint in 2008 and prompted the rescheduling of a fight with Michael Bisping. Leben lost the fight, initially slotted for UFC 85 but rescheduled for UFC 89, and then served a nine-month suspension after failing a drug test for admittedly taking a banned substance (Stanozolol).
Leben lost his return fight against Jake Rosholt before posting his current win streak over jay Silva, Aaron Simpson and Yoshihiro Akiyama. The Simpson and Akiyama fights came just two weeks apart, and the Akiyama victory in July produced one of the year's biggest most memorable fights.
There's no word if the arrest will affect the Leben (21-6 MMA, 11-5 UFC) vs. Stann (9-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) fight.
Shame. It was good to hear after his legal troubles in 2008 that he was supposedly 'clean'.

Bad news, I like Leben and he's been doing so well lately. Hope everything gets cleared up.

Such a shame, I was hoping his life would get back on track after he matured.

Yeah... Leben's one of my favorite fighters - I really hope he can get these problems sorted out.
I'm really surprised that after that awesome fight-of-the-night against Akiyama (probably my favorite fight this year), the UFC put him against Brian Stann on the first fight of the main card(?). I'd have thought he should be in the main (or co-main) event against the likes of Wanderlei Silva or a rematch with Bisping...

Wanderlei isn't going to be ready yet, and Bisping already had a fight planned.

Wanderlei Vs Leben is such an awesome match-up though... Couldn't they just wait until Silva is ready? (especially as Leben has fought a lot recently). It just seems a risky move to put him low down on the card, against a "non-name"... it kind of seems like a step backwards.

well akiyama was a HUGE step up in competition...so if Leben gets a win over Stann it should land him in the co-main event against Wandy in his next fight. If he loses though (you're right) it will set him back a little...
I hope they do an Ultimate fighter series with wanderlei and leben...that would be amazing.

I hope they do an Ultimate fighter series with wanderlei and leben...that would be amazing. ...that's a great idea - it would be awesome. I think the Leben/Stann fight has been promoted to co main-event status after the problems they've been having with UFC 125... and the Vera/Silva fight is now on the main card too.
