hey all, saw this on BJPENN.com
UFC officials, as well as those close to Lesnar, indicated that Frank Mir, with whom Lesnar has split two fights, is his next likely opponent. The fight makes sense. Mir is coming off a knockout win over Mirko Filipovic on Sept. 25, and he has been Lesnar’s biggest career rival, with insults between the two going back and forth dating back nearly three years.
Lesnar vs. Mir III is almost guaranteed to be a huge fight, given that Mir is an expert of hyping a fight, but also, legitimately, Mir doesn’t like Lesnar, feeling Lesnar disrespected him after beating him at UFC 100. The match would likely be as big or bigger than any championship match that UFC could promote right now.
Their first match was a huge success on pay-per-view. Their second, which Lesnar won via second round TKO, was at the time the biggest match in mixed martial arts history, going by public interest.
The winner of that fight would be right back in championship contention.
In related news. new UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez expected back in the gym soon to begin preparation for Junior Dos Santos. AKA head trainer Javier Mendez said that he’d give Velasquez one or two weeks off to celebrate his win, but he wanted him back in the gym because Dos Santos is a completely different fighter and poses different problems.
Among the fighters under UFC contract, the other two key contenders right now would be Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson, who meet on Jan. 1 in Las Vegas.

Figured as much. I'm not interested in this at all, but yeah, I'd watch it.

I want to see this just to see Mir eat his words again.

From a business standpoint, this is probably their best option.
I was thinking about who he can fight next other than Mir. Big Nog? There's not too many people out there right now. With Lesnar saying he's going to take some time off, I wonder when this fight will take place.

I would be putting Brock against Nogueira.
It's a test against one of the craftiest veterans in the heavyweight division, and I think it would be fun to watch. Frank Mir? Been there, done that, went back there, did it again.

Yeah, although this fight makes sense, I really don't know if they should do it or not. How about a fight between Ben Rothwell and Lesnar?? At least it would be something we haven't seen yet, where-as we've seen Lesnar/Mir twice so far.
At any rate, it'll be interesting to see who they match Lesnar up with in his next fight.

I think Brock is going to get Carwin/Nelson winner, Schaub/Mir & Nog/CroCop get made.
Brock gets time off to hunt or whatever he wants to do, and you have a huge fight waiting for him in the winner of Carwin/Nelson. Cawin/Lesnar II would be bigger, in my opinion than another Mir/Lesnar fight.

Brock is going to take an extended break, so I don't think he'll be fighting for awhile.

Personally I'm not terribly interested, as I'm sure Lesnar will be taking quite a bit of time off.

I can't really see any different outcome than Mir getting his faced smashed again, but the fight kind of makes sense - and Mir would be great in the trash-talking/hyping the fight.

Bullshit. Lesnar's only had like 6 fights, I have no interest seeing him fight the same guy a third time. Maybe later. Why not Roy Nelson? Hell, I'd rather get a Carwin rematch later before a Mir one

I'd watch and be interested but I think I'd rather see him fight someone he hasn't had a fight against first then maybe Mir later on.

I'm not overly excited about seeing a lesnar/Mir III rubber match to be honest maybe Brock should be fed a few guys to build him up into an unstoppable monster again then Mir then if he comes through that with a win have him face carwin/jds in a number one contenders match before they contemplate a rematch with Cain.
