While he does make a compelling argument, even if this was an all time list...I wouldn't include him. But then again, why get all bent outta shape on MTV's list? Hell, they called Nicki Minaj an "MC"

If Nelly wasn't there, they wouldn't have gave a crap that he wasn't on the list..because, I mean...it's Nelly. :/
Who has really ever cared about Nelly?
And I doubt that older white guy ever listened to any rap to even have a justified opinion.

Its a terrible list to begin with, so really no point in complaining about it.

Doesn't MTV do the hottest MCs of each year? Has Nelly even dropped a song in the last calendar year?

Nelly....Nelly....Hmm....OH! OH I know him.. That's that guy, who uh.. is famous for wearing a patch on his face? Oh.. Well that can't be right.. He has to have had a good song. Let's see.. Hot in here? Oh.. Okay well that was like six or so years ago. Country Grammar? Wait..No.. That was about ten years ago... Well..... Nelly..... Grillz! Oh, now that... That song was just about five years ago.. Well, no.
I got nothing.

Nelly should get that damn band-aid slapped off his face for this one. Is he on crack? He was "ok" at best. He hasn't had a good song since what like 2002?

I love that these guys get bent out of shape in a profession that has thousands of other guys you are competing with. I don't get rappers of the last 10 years or so. They put out an album or two, and if they sell well then they think they are the ing best of all time. It's ridiculous. Newsflash: Nelly, Ludacris, Ja Rule, & 50 Cent, you're all done. Nowhere near the best of all time. Lil Wayne, you won't EVER be the greatest. Kanye, you are a long way off, so shut up about it.

Wayne will be remembered for being a great lyricist, and his evolution as a rapper. He's a VERY talented rapper. Don't let this recent guitar swinging and rock singing fool you. Same with Kanye. People let his jackass personality get in the way of how they see him as an artist. Kanye is a rapper and a producer. I don't mean some guy who sold a million records and created his own stable. I mean he was making beats for Roc before anyone knew who he was. Good beats. Now he's a great rapper. It's lovely how people spew crap about Kanye and Weezy never being great, but some of the greatest of all time give them credit for their talents. And as said above, Luda is unjustly underrated.

just saw the list...and what a very odd list....
no Jay-Z? Really?
whether they are going off of records sales, impact on hip-hop, or lyrical ability Jay-Z fits the criteria for all of those...
I am a huge fan of Drake but he is already on the list? Really? Like Nelly said if they want to include drake and Rick Ross than this should be a list of the top rappers of the last 3 years...
I don't agree with Rick Ross being on there at all.
No Andre 3000, Jay-Z, Nas is kind of surprising. But I can see why they picked the rappers they did. Completely agree with the first 3 though...People will always have their opinions of Eminem, Kanye, and Weezy but they are talented. I would probably put Kanye before Wayne but whatever.

I was surprised by the lack of Andre and Jay-Z as well. I'm also sad, though not at all surprised by Slug not being there. It really annoys me that he doesn't get play. I'd also consider Cee Lo, though I guess he's transitioned into more of a singer, so that doesn't bother me much. Bomani Armah is also better than most of that list... Geez, I dislike most mainstream hip hop. The only name I don't disagree with is Eminem. I'm not a huge fan, but I can't deny his impact and talent.
