I already knew about this figure but it's good to see some closer shots of it and it's yet another example from Japan of how a wrestling figure should be made accurately. It may not have much articulation but in every other aspect it beats Jakks and Toybiz convincingly. I wonder if it will get rereleased as a 2-pack with the 70's Terry Funk ?

I bought this Dory Funk Jr. today. It is a very good figure. While I do agree with most of what you see I disagree with some as well. Japanese wrestling figures are amazing, but their lack of articulation does spoil any playability. These figures are not toys, but collector's pieces while Jakks and ToyBiz make toys. It is a totally different market, so you cannot compare.

However, I don't think there's a single american that was a kid in the '80s that said LJNs lacked playability...

LJNs were 20 years ago and choices for wrestling figure fans choices were limited to either LJN or Remco. Japanese figures now have basically been the same (and awesome for most of the time) for the last ten years. There would be a pretty decent market for Japanese wrestling figures with the same detail ànd good playability.

Oh, basically japanese figs haven't changed the last 25 years (playability wise): compare Popys to Charapros

The majority of licensed toys have always been primarily non-posable vinyl figures, going back to Popy and Bullmark, all the way to Bandai's current products. I hope some day a comprehensive line of articulated wrestling figures is released in Japan, but I'm not holding my breath!

That's one great looking figure.
Could have used some accessories, at least a hat or something, but still, it looks fantastic.

Just imagine how much money a company could rake in with detail like the Japanese figures and the playability of DAs.
