In an interview with fanhouse.com, Mr. Anderson has revealed TNA has banned chair shots to the head.
"TNA has absolutely thrown down the gauntlet and said no more unprotected chair shots... And every time there is a chair involved in the ring, the agents will come up and say please make sure for me that you are not going to ... that you're going to put your hand up. Please tell me you're going to put your hand up or it's going to be a back shot or something like that."
Anderson, who is currently out of action due to an errant chair shot from Jeff Hardy, reminded everyone that incident was an accident.
"The chair shot that I received from Jeff Hardy was not intended to hit the back of my head. I heard through the grapevine that there were some people who were concerned about that. That was an accident and, you know what, in our business, accidents are going to happen."

Very progressive of TNA, and especially after the Anderson/Hardy fiasco, it makes sense. I also applaud them for not banning them all-together, as I do think Chair shots to the Head belong in Wrestling, so I'd say TNA did a very good job with this situation.

If bischoff says no more chair shots then he'll come across as a face. Also, Anderson saying it was not intended to be hit in the head just goes to show that TNA took an opportunity and made a storyline out of it, in essence they made it up on the whim. They did the best they could with the situation I suppose. You could look at this booking decision two different ways, both of which I'm not gonna get into foreseeing the can of worms that awaits to be opened At least something positive will come outta this.

It will be like WWE's ban on Steel Chairs to the head. It won't be referenced on Television, but TNA gave themselves an out to not even have to pretend in one reality that they're allowed and in another they're not, as they can still have chair shots to the head, if they're protected, so TNA keeps that element of Wrestling in a safer form, and they're able to cut down on the chances of something like what happened to Anderson taking place, again.

a) good, why wasnt this the case anyway? but tbh im not one to care, yeah an accident but atleast hit what your aiming for, ie. the back......... b) why would this be news or storyline? just let it happen behind the scenes, dont need another "earth shattering" announcement ii tna, it should just be a behind-the-scenes deal, and well see it on all impacts, instead of being notified on this..... c) get well soon andeyson! ^-^ ............... d) for the heck of it i love jeffs new persona

I don't get it, everybody bitched when WWE banned chair shots. EXACTLY...ugh. Honestly, putting your HAND up over your face protects you from a metal chair hitting your head? I think not. If anything it's even worse because then it just looks horrible, like the guy knows he's getting hit with a chair so he needs to protect himself...why not just move out of the way? How about this...both professional wrestling companies do not want their employees dying at 36 because they've taken pointless metal chair shots to their skulls. Haven't we all seen enough head chair shots in our lives? WWE still has guys using chairs to the back, legs, arms, etc. That's good enough for me. TNA should be doing the same.
