I completely understand where he's coming from...
The YT poster's title is incredibly misleading though

He's right, There is a time & place for autographs. Problem is some people don't see it that way.

I definitely understand where he's coming from. Autograph hounds seem like very annoying people.
Though i would never hang around at an airport waiting for guys or anything, if I ran into someone like CM Punk, it would be hard to not at least say hello and show my support. I wouldn't bug them about signing things though, or even mention it. I also wouldn't bother anyone in the middle of things like that. So I guess there is some difference.

How about if you dont like people or being recognised as a wrestler dont become one. The fans pay his wages so if hes nasty to them then its only going to affect him in the long run.

I heard this interview awhile back. I understand his frustrations. Ebayers ruin it for the fans.
And I have no issue with someone saying that they want to sell autos on ebay, eventhough I dont see how they can make money considering the expenses in travel/merchandise. They have as much right to an autograph as a little kid, as me or as an elderly man. Its just pretty common knowledge that wrestlers, some more than others, cannot stand when someone is getting something signed just to they can go sell it on ebay and make a buck. Maybe thats why I have been lucky enough to be able to have some of the guys sign multiples for me, cuz they know that I am a fan and not an ebayer.

I certainly understand him wanting privacy, but quite frankly, if I was sitting on an airplane and he sat down next to me, I'm definitely going to ask for an autograph.
I have his autograph and used to talk to him from WAY back in the day (before his ROH days even -- even before his IWA days), so he *might* remember me, but I doubt it.
I've had situations before where I've walked into restaurants and seen wrestlers sitting down. This happened with Chris Jericho way back in the day. After a show in the area, a friend and I went to a restaurant and he was sitting down, eating with some guy (don't know who the guy was).
I was pretty excited to see him outside of the ring, but even at 16 years old, instead of running over and interrupting his meal, we just sat down. My friend kept pestering me to go over and get his autograph, but I kept saying, "No, that's rude."
Eventually I looked over and saw that he was looking around the restaurant - it was like 10pm, so there weren't many people. He looked in my direction so I smiled and waved at him. He smiled back.
I thought that'd be it, but when he was done with his meal he actually came over to my table and said hi to us. I thought that was pretty cool. He asked if we had been to the show and if we had fun -- just the usual stupid smalltalk, but it was still cool of him to come over and say hi, I thought. Then he took a picture with us and left.
So yeah, I guess the moral of the story is that if you're NOT rude and just let the wrestlers know you're a fan without being obnoxious and bothering them, they might even go out of their way to say hi to you.

Great story. A lot of this hobby is common courtesy. Dont follow them into the bathroom. Dont take pictures of them without asking first. Dont interrupt them if they are eating, having a conversation or talking on their phone. For the most part, they appreciate you being a fan and will be glad to give you an auto or take a picture if you approach them in a respectful fashion. And for me, I always remember to use please and thank you. I also have my item ready to be signed, marker uncapped and camera out in a friends hand ready to snap. Its all to make the process as quick as possible.

This is actually from an interview he did with Colt Cabana, as stated in the info on youtube. The full interview, along with others can be found here: tsmradio.com/coltcabana/page/2/On a slightly unrelated note, highly recommend the show. Sorta sucks that this guy ripped this from Colt's site.

I can understand Punk, but thats mainly eBayers.
If Im at an airport or hotel, Im completely respectful of the wrestlers. If they say no autographs or pics I thank them and go on my way. But Ill ask as long as there not on their phone. That happened to Vance Archer. I walked up and noticed he was on his phone and backed off until I saw him off of it. People just have to be respectful of the wrestlers when they meet them.

The bottom line is people need to not be rude. If I was in CM Punk's position, I would be the same exact way. I would NEVER want to be famous because of rude fans.

I certainly understand where he's coming from, but it also makes me wonder just what exactly he will tolerate.
As Kliquid said, if Punk, for example, sat down next to me on an airplane, I don't think I could totally avoided saying something to him. I don't exactly think I'd start off the conversation by asking for an autograph, but I don't think I could help, at some point, saying "Hey Punk I'm a huge fan of yours..." or something along those lines. But at the same time it makes me wonder if he'd bite my head off for something as simple as that.

If I were a pro wrestler I'd personally refuse to sign autographs anywhere besides actual signings.

I agree with Punk. I couldnt imagine how annoying it would be with people bugging you EVERYWHERE. Theres a time and a place for that sort of thing.
