In the current political climate, the Republicans are going to need to put in place a candidate who can not only appeal to staunch Republican and Independent voters, but also manage to cross the aisle and reach out to disenchanted Democrat voters as well. While he may not be the optimum candidate, I could see Jeb easily being suited to fill that mold.

I would support Jeb a million times more than that nutjob Palin. Then again, I do like W.

If this happens im moving. I cant take another bush Really? What personal struggles did Bush give you? I mean you clearly have internet, electricity. You're on a wrestling figures site so I would assume you collect toys. To pay for any of the mentioned you must have a job. You're still alive so you're obviously eating. So really what was so terrible about Bush that you personally cant handle another Bush in office? Or are you still living with Mommy and Daddy and you just want to follow the masses?

It swings both ways, however, as the same thing can be said about the Obama Administration.

I've always maintained that unless you're in the armed forces or you're a federal employee, the President has very little affect on your life. Bush sent me a check for a few hundred bucks. That's about the only thing he did to affect my life. So, in 8 yrs, he affected me once and even then it was not in a major way.

So, in 8 yrs, he affected me once and even then it was not in a major way. - I was without two of my closest friends for over 3 years while they fought a pointless war in another country. - My house lost a significant amount of value (which has now been mostly regained, but still...) due to horribly planned interest rates that allowed other, unqualified people to buy homes for practically no interest, then gouged them with huge interest. - I lost my right to privacy with the Patriot Act. ... I have to leave for now, but I can certainly continue...

I really thought I had responded to this last night, but apparently not.
1. As I mentioned earlier, if you're in the armed forces, the President can affect your life.
2. Bush had little or nothing to do with all the bad mortgages that were handed out. He didn't approve said mortgages. He didn't encourage people to apply for them. The laws that allowed them were passed under Clinton. Besides, even if Bush had decided that all those sketchy mortgages were the worse thing to happen ever, he can't do anything about it. He has to wait for Congress to get their act together and give him a bill to sign.
3. How has the Patriot Act affected you? Yes, it's a bad bill. However, I've not been affected by it. How have you?

I dont get the whole "I dont have any privacy because of the Patriot Act" routine. If you're not doing anything illegal I highly doubt the gov't or anyone else really gives a flip. Its not like they're cracking into your personal computers to see how many sheep you have on Farmville.

1. As I mentioned earlier, if you're in the armed forces, the President can affect your life. I wasn't even in the Armed Forces. But practically EVERYONE knows SOMEONE who is (or was recently). I didn't say Bush in general. I said his administration. His administration continued failing policies that were setup by previous administrations, didn't address obvious problems in the system, and then crapcame falling down on everyone. 3. How has the Patriot Act affected you? Yes, it's a bad bill. However, I've not been affected by it. How have you? I wouldn't know if they have because they don't have to tell me anymore, but my personal right to privacy has been infringed upon.

Its not like they're cracking into your personal computers to see how many sheep you have on Farmville. They said the same things about their freedom in Germany while the Nazi's were taking control. I'm certainly not comparing our current government to the Nazi's, but the fact that people are so willing to give up their freedoms is discouraging. When you say, "If you're not doing anything illegal," that's a problem, because I'm not doing anything illegal and it still doesn't prevent me from being unconstitutionally searched, wiretapped, or worse. Keep in mind that if the government knows that a person is doing something illegal, they can apply for a warrant which describes exactly what said person is doing, what items will be confiscated, etc. At that point, there is no need for the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act makes it so that they don't even need to have any evidence that you're doing something illegal. Even a mere HUNCH is good enough.

Sure, but the same could be said for any President. We all know someone in the armed forces. The President is their boss. Yes, the boss affects their life. That goes for every single President though.
When Clinton was in office we were at peace. A friend of mine got sent to Germany for 9 mos. Yes, that affected me, but that's meaningless. That happens in any administration.
Did you try to sell your house under the Bush administration? If you didn't, then you weren't really hurt. Even so, it's hard to place the blame squarely on him. What specifically should Bush have done? You could argue that Congress should've laid the smackdown on a lot of the mortgage companies and I'll agree with you. However, Bush can't do anything about that unless and until Congress puts a bill on his desk.
How has your right to privacy been infringed upon? Show me one instance where your privacy has personally been infringed because of the Patriot act. Again, I agree that it's a bad bill. However, it's one thing to say that it's a bad bill and another thing to say that it's affected you personally.

Yes, that affected me, but that's meaningless. That happens in any administration. I'm not sure that you're understanding what I'm saying. I don't think Clinton was some amazing, end-all, beat-all President. You should know by now that I think basically every President and almost all politicians in general are scandalous jerks. You said that the President didn't affect people's lives, and I just wanted to give a few examples of how every President affects our lives. The same thing can be said about every President in recent memory. Did you try to sell your house under the Bush administration? If you didn't, then you weren't really hurt. Not true, as I couldn't sell my house if I wanted to during that time, due to the fact that I owed more on it than it was worth. That also affects me. Even so, it's hard to place the blame squarely on him. What specifically should Bush have done? You could argue that Congress should've laid the smackdown on a lot of the mortgage companies and I'll agree with you. However, Bush can't do anything about that unless and until Congress puts a bill on his desk. I'm not putting the blame solely on him. His entire Administration should have seen this coming. There were people within the government who saw things like the banking collapse and housing collapse coming and they were silenced by both the Clinton and Bush administrations who either deemed their thoughts to be uncredible or simply did not care. Regardless, responsibility needs to be placed on the Bush Administration (as well as other administrations) for not taking proactive steps to prevent these things. How has your right to privacy been infringed upon? Show me one instance where your privacy has personally been infringed because of the Patriot act. Again, I agree that it's a bad bill. However, it's one thing to say that it's a bad bill and another thing to say that it's affected you personally. Like I said, I can't provide evidence of it because the Patriot Act clearly indicates that they don't have to tell me about it. I could be being wiretapped right now -- how would I know? This is the problem. Our basic liberties, as a nation, are being infringed upon by a law that is illegal at its core.

Sure, but the same could be said for any President. We all know someone in the armed forces. The President is their boss. Yes, the boss affects their life. That goes for every single President though. Yes, agreed. Every President affects people. That's sketchy logic. If my best friend works for the Acme Brick company and his boss decides to send him to Germany, that affects my life just as much as Bush or Obama sending a soldier friend of mine overseas. So, my best friend's boss affects my life just as much as the President does. As I said, the President has very little effect on your everyday life. Fine. The President affects your life. Your boss has way more affect on your life than the President does. Your neighbor has more affect on you than the President does. The clerk at the grocery store who shortchanges you and then refuses to acknowledge it affects you more than Bush does. Heck, I could flame you all over WFIGS and have more affect on you than Obama does. And that had nothing to do with you not putting down a big enough downpayment? Not saying they're not responsible. I'm just saying the effect isn't as much as you may think. People think the President can totally frak up their lives or totally improve them, but it's just not the case. Remember the lady on TV when Obama got elected talking about how she wouldn't have to worry about how to put gas in her car any more or how to pay her rent? I'm sorry, but Obama (or any other President for that matter) just doesn't have that kind of affect on your every day life. No offense, but that's Oskankowski logic there. Aliens exist. We don't have proof because "they" are covering it up. The fact they're covering it up proves Aliens exist.

So, my best friend's boss affects my life just as much as the President does. As I said, the President has very little effect on your everyday life. ... Again, I'm not claiming that there aren't other people who affect the lives of people. The obvious difference is that working for a brick company is not risking your life on a daily basis. You don't think of it as being a direct impact, but the policies, the taxation, the economic decisions, etc. all affect us on a daily basis. And that had nothing to do with you not putting down a big enough downpayment? A big enough down payment according to who? If I was unqualified to buy a home, then I shouldn't have been approved for over 2x the cost of the home I actually bought. Not saying they're not responsible. I'm just saying the effect isn't as much as you may think. People think the President can totally frak up their lives or totally improve them, but it's just not the case. I'm sorry, but Obama (or any other President for that matter) just doesn't have that kind of affect on your every day life. Well yeah, but those people are intellectually- disabled. No offense, but that's Oskankowski logic there. Aliens exist. We don't have proof because "they" are covering it up. The fact they're covering it up proves Aliens exist. No, we KNOW that they are doing this because they have used the Patriot Act to catch people before. There's no cover-up with this. It's right out in the open.

A lot of people joined the military with the intention of "defending our country from Terrorists." Now that information has surfaced about the blatantly falsified reasons that we invaded that area in the first place, many of the people who signed up are pretty frustrated.

... Again, I'm not claiming that there aren't other people who affect the lives of people. The obvious difference is that working for a brick company is not risking your life on a daily basis. But you don't sign up for the brick company expecting that you're going to risk your life. We had a police officer get killed in the line of duty a few months ago. Obviously, that had a huge effect on his family, but no one can say that it was completely unexpected. It's one of the risks of putting on the badge. If you don't want to risk your life for your country, just don't enlist. It's that simple. I'm way too cowardly to go to war. I don't sign up for the military. Perhaps, but in very, very small ways. Wal-mart's decision to stop carrying certain food brands made me go to my local grocery store instead. The local store is closer to my house so I'm driving less. Because I'm driving less I burn less gas. Because I burn less gas, the local gas station gets less money from me. So, Wal-mart's decision impacted the local gas station. In a meaningful way? No, but it impacted them. I got approved for 2x the cost of the house I bought. If I bought the house I was approved for I'd be forking over half of my income in house payments. Just because you get approved doesn't mean you can afford it. Just saying. No offense, but that's Oskankowski logic there. Aliens exist. We don't have proof because "they" are covering it up. The fact they're covering it up proves Aliens exist. No, we KNOW that they are doing this because they have used the Patriot Act to catch people before. There's no cover-up with this. It's right out in the open.[/quote] But my point was it's not affecting you personally. Is it possibly affecting some legitimate immigrant who has no terrorist inclinations at all? Sure. But my point was it's not affecting you or me or the vast majority of people.

But you don't sign up for the brick company expecting that you're going to risk your life. The people didn't sign up to fight a false war, either. Another big difference is that your friend can quit the brick company without any real negative impact on his future life. If someone "quits" the military, they're ed. At least he didn't get lied to to get him to do his job. I'm not sure I'm understanding your point here. Obviously there's cause and effect to everything in the world. All I'm saying is that there are certainly ways that the President and/or his administration has an effect on our every day lives. I got approved for 2x the cost of the house I bought. If I bought the house I was approved for I'd be forking over half of my income in house payments. Just because you get approved doesn't mean you can afford it. Just saying. You have to understand that this happened to both of us (and many, many others) because the policies enacted by the President and Congress allowed banks to do this blatantly ridiculous scheme. But my point was it's not affecting you personally. Is it possibly affecting some legitimate immigrant who has no terrorist inclinations at all? Sure. But my point was it's not affecting you or me or the vast majority of people. How do you KNOW it's not affecting me? How would we have any idea one way or another?
