The people didn't sign up to fight a false war, either. Another big difference is that your friend can quit the brick company without any real negative impact on his future life. If someone "quits" the military, they're ed. It doesn't matter what war they signed up for. They belong to Uncle Sam the second they sign up. If the US decided to declare war on Canada tomorrow, they'd have to go. You don't sign up for the military with the idea that you can pick and choose what wars you fight and don't fight. That's not how it works. I'm a computer tech. One of our clients is an organization that advocates pro-life causes. My boss never asked me if I was pro-life or pro-choice. Nor does he care. He just tells me to go fix their computers so they can continue to advocate for pro-life causes. I have to help them continue their cause regardless of whether I like it or not. I get no say. I'm the employee. Soldiers are the same way. No soldiers were lied to. They were told, "Go here and fight." That's it. That's what soldiers do. My point is that the President doesn't affect the vast majority of people in any meaningful way. People are out running around thinking that their life sucks because President <<insert name here>> ruined their life. I'm sorry, but that's just not the case. If you're in the military or you're a federal employee, then sure. Other than that, no. Fair enough, but I'm not trying to sell my house now, so it doesn't affect me. And it's not really the President's fault. It's way more Congress's fault But my point was it's not affecting you personally. Is it possibly affecting some legitimate immigrant who has no terrorist inclinations at all? Sure. But my point was it's not affecting you or me or the vast majority of people. How do you KNOW it's not affecting me? How would we have any idea one way or another?
Now we're verging into conspiracy area.

If this happens im moving. I cant take another bush Really? What personal struggles did Bush give you? I mean you clearly have internet, electricity. You're on a wrestling figures site so I would assume you collect toys. To pay for any of the mentioned you must have a job. You're still alive so you're obviously eating. So really what was so terrible about Bush that you personally cant handle another Bush in office? Or are you still living with Mommy and Daddy and you just want to follow the masses? 1.Ouch 2 Dubya is an idiot, His father is an idiot and as far as i know his brother is an idiot answer me this how is another bush in office going to help our economy? Sure i have a job and i rent my own place, but i didn't get the chance to do this until last year i had to move to NY just to find a job, I worked my ing ass off to get where i am at, like many other Americans no thanks to dubya. When Clinton was in office my family had money we weren't rich but we were well off once bush got in almost everyone i knew started having money problems.

That's funny...I had a job all through the Bush Presidency. I didn't lose it until right before the 2008 primaries. In fact, right around election time, I had to go back to retail to find a job that wouldn't be eliminated in a month. I check pretty regularly - jobs in my old field are still pretty scarce.

What specifically did Bush do that cause you to have money problems? I'll wait.

Wanna know if youre being wiretapped? Catch a chest cold, so youre all phlegmy, then call someone and say the words "jihad, Mohammed, bomb, USA, infidels, 72 virgins"
If nothing happens, youre good.
If the FBI shows up, then you realize what a terrible idea it was to take some guys advice on the internet.

If the FBI shows up, then you realize what a terrible idea it was to take some guys advice on the internet. They could come at me, because they can check library files and see that I checked out a book called "How To Overthrow the Government."

Just heard this from Stephen Fry, he is quoting Will Rogers.
"The problem with practical jokes is that sometimes they get elected."

It doesn't matter what war they signed up for. It absolutely DOES matter, because they were lied to by the administration to get them to join in the first place. Again, not the same thing at all, because you can easily quit your job. No soldiers were lied to. They were told, "Go here and fight." That's it. That's what soldiers do. Not true at all. During their recruitment around 2002, my friends were specifically told that they would be "defending America's Freedom by fighting terrorism." The only people threatening our freedom are the very people in charge of our country. My point is that the President doesn't affect the vast majority of people in any meaningful way. People are out running around thinking that their life sucks because President <<insert name here>> ruined their life. I'm sorry, but that's just not the case. If you're in the military or you're a federal employee, then sure. Other than that, no. The people who blame the President for their lives sucking are outrageous... But the Federal government certainly has an impact on all of us, every day, whether we think about it or not. Fair enough, but I'm not trying to sell my house now, so it doesn't affect me. And it's not really the President's fault. It's way more Congress's fault Trust me, I think Congress pretty much needs to be completely overhauled. Now we're verging into conspiracy area. How? We're talking about something that we know for a fact happens. It's not a "conspiracy" for me to assume that it might be happening to me. I'm not even saying that it is happening to me, but I shouldn't even have that concern whatsoever.

It absolutely DOES matter, because they were lied to by the administration to get them to join in the first place. And what of those who signed up the day before 9/11? They signed up in peace time. Now they're being asked to fight a war. That wasn't why they signed up. And if you signed up pre 9/11 you signed up being told that you could develop great job skills and see the world. Now, you're being sent overseas to be cannon fodder. Clearly not what you signed up for in peacetime. Opt out of going to war I guess 'cuz that's how it should work? My next door neighbor has a bigger impact on my every day life than the feds do. Just saying. Now we're verging into conspiracy area. How? We're talking about something that we know for a fact happens. It's not a "conspiracy" for me to assume that it might be happening to me. I'm not even saying that it is happening to me, but I shouldn't even have that concern whatsoever.
Someone could hack my computer and steal all my data. It happens all the time. We know it happens. How much time do you think I spend worrying that it is happening to me?

And what of those who signed up the day before 9/11? They signed up in peace time. Now they're being asked to fight a war. That wasn't why they signed up. Completely different situation, as these people weren't flat-out lied to, to get them to enlist. And if you signed up pre 9/11 you signed up being told that you could develop great job skills and see the world. Now, you're being sent overseas to be cannon fodder. Clearly not what you signed up for in peacetime. Opt out of going to war I guess 'cuz that's how it should work? Again, completely different situation. But regardless, you know my opinion on the "War on Terror" anyway. I think everyone in the military has a right to complain about being in Afghanistan and Iraq. My next door neighbor has a bigger impact on my every day life than the feds do. Just saying. Just think about all of the things you can't do because of the Federal government. You might not think about it because you're so used to it, but our entire way of life was essentially setup by the Federal government. Someone could hack my computer and steal all my data. It happens all the time. We know it happens. How much time do you think I spend worrying that it is happening to me? Absolutely, that can definitely happen. I'm not saying that you need to sit and worry about it - I don't. I mean, I think it's complete and utter B.S. that they can go in and wiretap me without a warrant, but do I sit and worry about it all the time? Not really. But it does bother me. And it certainly sets up a dangerous precedence for future laws and acts.
