Its been mentioned a lot since last Tuesdays loss, but this will hopefully shed some light on what ,I think we all knew, will be the effects of the loss on the rating/content. On a side note, Phil Muschnick is still an idiot after all these years. Here's the link to the article: www.impactwrestling.com/Content.aspx?ID=34543

didn't the PG rating that came in July of 08 predate the Mattel deal? Or was that in an effort to get them to eventually agree to the deal? I don't know anything about what went wrong with WWE/Jakks Pacific though.

I don't know anything about what went wrong with WWE/Jakks Pacific though. My idea was that they knew they were done with Jakks, so they moved the rating to PG to attract another company to make figures for them. Mattel bit and they are staying PG to keep them on.

That idiotic quote just goes to show how uninformed some people are, and how unqualified they are to say anything at all about wrestling.
PG has been around since the summer of 08.
And of course theyre not going to revert to TV-14 a week after the loss; That would destroy any credibility WWE had as far as standing up against neigh-sayers goes.
(warning: conspiracy rant ahead) PG will stay for at least two more Wrestlemania's; probably longer. However, If I had to put money on it, my bet would be that WWE will never be TV-14 again. I say that, because I'm getting to the point where Im losing faith in WWE as a wrestling business. Theyre becoming so politically correct, and squeaky clean about every little aspect, that being PG has almost become the foundation of WWE, and now everything is being built off of it.
When they were TV-14, they were a wrestling business. Becoming PG has opened up so much more for WWE now and theyre quickly becoming an entertainment business; faster than I anticipated it, actually (I predicted this transition back in 08). I still think WWE will eventually change their name to World Wide Entertainment, and the actual wrestling aspect will be one of their smallest priorities, taking the back seat to movies, television, products and whatever else they'll make money off of (it really is "all about the monayy"); that is, if they dont dig themselves into their own grave. And by that, I mean a Superstar rebellion where many, many Superstars refuse to re-sign with dissaproval of the company direction. I dont think it would result in closure of WWE, but the wrestling aspect would surley die.

I don't know anything about what went wrong with WWE/Jakks Pacific though. Someone from WWE was taking bribes from someone at Jakks and it got leaked out and both people were terminated and since that happened it opened the door for WWE to search for other companies to make WWE figures.

I knew Linda's loss wouldn't affect the PG rating.

Some people need to get there facts right, as people have already said, WWE went PG in '08, I don't have a problem with it being PG, It was a smart business move to change and It's not really changed as much as people say it has, although, what I don't like is how nearly all the actual wrestling is getting pushed to the side for comedy, My favourite wrestling promotion Chikara Pro is PG, It has comedy angles during matches,Barely any blood and some crazy and stupid gimmicks, But the wrestling on the show is outstanding, They put on great matches, Barley ever a bad match in the whole card, I don't understand why WWE can't be like that, They have all the talent to do it, they don't even need to change their main event scene to do it like, alot of people think otherwise but that's my opinion.

My theory is that PG will be around for a few years yet and it will evolve with the current crop of fans. As they mature so will the content, just like it did 20 years ago with the "golden era" transitioning into the "new generation" then onto the "attitude era".

Personally, I think Benoit is the cause for the PG rating. WWE had to go on damage control big time, and changing the content was a way to improve their image.
Just a theory, I could be way off.

Mattel requested the WWE go PG a year and a half before their first wrestling figures were released and the WWE complied starting from WM25.

PG came well after benoit-gate, but it certainly started the shift and was taken into account when the eventual move to PG was made.

Mattel requested the WWE go PG a year and a half before their first wrestling figures were released and the WWE complied starting from WM25. Your timeline is completely off so therefore this comment makes no sense. Wrestlemania 25 April 6,2009 Mattels first series released January 1st, 2010 that is not a year and a half before the line started. So I need to see a source for your posting because I dont believe what you're saying.
