someone wants to marry the future king? ...well thats a surprise...  seriously this is all over everywhere here. its annoying. personally i couldn't give a crap about any royal/celebrity's private life. my interest in celebrities only goes as far as their actual work (ie music, film, tv). so with royal celebrities thats nothing. so yeh. i don't care. why am i even on this thread. |

Royals aren't celebrities. I know nowadays they don't seem too significant (tbh I think not having a monarch wouldn't be much of a problem) but royal weddings are and have always been a very important event in our countrys history and culture. Celebs I agree with, take no notice but this is alot more than that. Anyway, I hope will does become king... |

Well, she's a commoner (for the first time in 350 years), so maybe, just maybe, their kids won't be inbred. And thankfully, William got most of his looks from his mom's side. Harry wasn't so lucky...

Maybe someone from the UK can answer this for me, but I've never understood, at least in the modern spectrum, what - if any- power the royal monarchs hold. It seems, and I could be wrong, even in a constitutional monarchy, that royalty is little more than a formality within an organized government.
