Even if she does, Charles is in line before he is. I thought he was kicked out of the succession line because of his marriage to Diana. I think its just assumed that he will pass it on to his son and not have to fool with it. Really though, I dont see why its that big of a deal here in the states. I mean did England go bat crap crazy when Chelsea Clinton got married?

Maybe someone from the UK can answer this for me, but I've never understood, at least in the modern spectrum, what - if any- power the royal monarchs hold. It seems, and I could be wrong, even in a constitutional monarchy, that royalty is little more than a formality within an organized government. None, they are purely decorative. Alot of people want it gone. But alot of people don't. I don't believe in the royal family.

Any new law has to be approved by the Queen but as you suggest, it is little more than a formality. She does have the power to dissolve government entirely but that's not really going to happen any time soon. If anything the Royal Family are used as a tourist attraction as many visitors to the UK always want to look at palaces and things. They also provide a public face as British representatives (e.g. Diana and William were/are always helping charities abroad, the Queen herself meets with worldwide dignitaries. And Philip just casts racial slurs all the time.)

Why hasnt anyone brought up that Kate Middleton is smoking hot?
Is there really anything else to discuss aside from that?

She's basically going to do charity things and be a show piece. Pretty much what the Clinton family is.

Well, she's a commoner (for the first time in 350 years), so maybe, just maybe, their kids won't be inbred. And thankfully, William got most of his looks from his mom's side. Harry wasn't so lucky...Harry isn't really Charles' son, so he doesn't get his looks either...
