www.mmafighting.com/2010/11/23/jose-aldo-forced-out-of-ufc-125-due-to-injury/Just days after he was awarded the new UFC featherweight title by Dana White, Jose Aldo has been forced to pull out of his scheduled UFC 125 title defense against Josh Grispi due to an undisclosed injury. Heavy MMA first reported the news on Tuesday afternoon, and MMA Fighting has confirmed it with sources. Aldo (18-1), the final WEC featherweight champion, most recently defeated Manny Gamburyan in September. He captured the 145-pound title in November 2009 when he defeated Mike Brown via second round TKO. Grispi (14-1) was supposed to fight Erik Koch at WEC 52 earlier this month, but was pulled from that fight card following the announcement of the UFC-WEC merger in October. No word on which bout will replace Aldo-Grispi as the UFC 125 co-main event. UFC 125 is scheduled for Jan. 1 in Las Vegas. The event, which will air live on pay-per-view, will be headlined by Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard for the UFC lightweight title. Damn I was looking foward to that fight.

Way to jinx him with the UFC title already. I had a feeling something bad would go down. Good news is I heard he only needs a month or so to recuperate for the fight.

Well if it's true that he only needs a month or so, I wouldn't be shocked if that fight is added as the co-main event for the Silva vs. Belfort card.

That's really odd, because he was doing BJJ with Swick yesterday in Brazil.

"It was such a really tough task for me to convince him not to fight. He wanted to fight anyway. He was really excited to make his UFC debut, but I told him [fighting] in such a crisis state, he may have really serious problems. He argued that he wanted to fight anyway, that people would think he was chickening out, but I insisted and convinced him ... It was really hard. It was like hell for me. He was really disappointed and even cried after we made the decision. But finally, now we made the right decision. He’ll start physiotherapy and I think, in three months, he can finally make his Octagon debut." Andre Pederneira, the Nova Uniao head honcho tells sherdog.com about the difficulty he had to get Jose Aldo to agree to his withdrawal of his first ever official UFC fight. Even going so far as to share the featherweight champs tears upon the realization that he would have to wait at least 3 months before making his UFC debut. Better to come in healthy than to risk a poor showing, however I know several of us were looking forward to this bout. www.bjpenn.com/profiles/blogs/team-aldo-jose-came-to-tears
