very disappointed in the decision on phan/garcia. i had it 30-27, as im sure most people did... except for two of the judges. not sure what they saw, i suppose flailing your arms around aimlessly gets you points.
very impressed with johnsons striking power... and consequently, brookins' chin. i personally scored it 28-28, because brookins did nothing in the first except get stuffed on takedown attempts, and injure johnsons knuckles with his face. johnsons conditioning is pitiful... for a guy in that great of shape, to not be able to last after defending a couple takedown attempts, is terrible. but i do think he'll fix that, and i think he'll have a better career than brookins. his athleticism and strength are absurd at that size. hes still very green too.
bonnar can suck it, james is absolutely right... he took one punch, and then would automatically go for the takedown and push pokrajac into the cage.
and demian maia dominated kendall grove... wasnt overly impressed with either, grove is mediocre, and maia is a step above most of them, but a step below the elite at middle.

I was actually surprised at how good Grove's DEFENSE on the ground was. His offense was obviously terrible, but that was mostly because of how good Maia is with positioning.
And I actually changed my opinion on Brookins. I thought he was okay, but man is he NOT. What is wrong with this kid? His stance standing up is awful and he leaves his head STRAIGHT up while he's striking. That's a mistake. Sooner or later, someone is going to knock his head off his shoulders. He needs a good trainer to help him with that. Johnson gassing out was bad to see, as well. You would think these TUF guys would ATLEASED come prepared for the finale show, but I guess not. The next season of TUF better be good. I hope to see André Galvão in the next one.
Such a lackluster card from UFC, but Strikeforce REALLY made up for it. 4 straight TKO/KO finishes. Awesome!

Such a lackluster card from UFC, but Strikeforce REALLY made up for it. 4 straight TKO/KO finishes. Awesome! Ok...The strikeforce card was good but everyone comparing it to the UFC card is crazy... the UFC card had barely any names besides Maia, Grove, and Bonnar.... the Strikeforce card had Hendo, Babalu, Lindland, Lawler, and Daley. AND since nobody else is saying it all of those matches besides the Babalu vs. Hendo fight were "gimmes". If anyone called Smith to win against Daley, please never watch MMA again. Smiths "come from behind" style is perfectly suited for Daley's power. Why wouldn't Smith try to take it down to the ground? Honestly..... Lindland vs. Lawler? Are you f***ing serious? Lindland is a wrestler.......to the core and nothing else. It was obvious Lawler would knock his ass out. But Babalu vs. Hendo I honestly thought Sobral would win. To anyone who says Babalu has a suspect chin....suck a ****. I honestly thought Babalu would win if he didn't rush in like he did when he fought Chuck. so overall I felt SF built a card up that they KNEW would be full of KO's. You can't compare a card that had a majority of SF's "name fighters" against a card full of guys from the Ultimate fighter.

I just got around to watching this today and man Phan was robbed, I don't know what these judges are looking and these decisions are getting far too regular. Something needs to be done.
I also got around to watching Strikeforce as well and was on a whole infinitely more entertained by it (despite Babalu losing) and of course you can compare an event to another event, I don't really get why you can't or shouldn't.

Brookins looked great on the ground, I'm glad he won. Nam/Garcia was a great fight. I honestly, kind of thought Garcia won, but apparently nobody else did. Bonnar also looked great on the ground. Overall I thought it was a pretty decent show.

I just don't see how anyone could think Garcia won. Was he the aggressor? To a certain extent, yes. However, the amount of strikes that Nam landed, and that did damage should have been the factor. Even Garcia himself was getting frustrated during the fight because he kept getting caught.
I don't see a single thing outside of "pushing the pace", which is a ridiculous thought for a guy that was gassed by the start of round 3, that would have given Garcia that fight.
