Anyone ever go to a store, like a Wal-Mart or a Toys R Us, and look at their toys selection, and the stuff on the shelves is not only old, but REALLY old, like figures that other stores haven't had in close to a year? I stopped at a Toys R Us today, and was shocked to find nothing but Mattel Basic Series 2 and 3, Elite Series 3, and a bunch of random old 2 packs and PPV sets as well. It reminded me a Wal-Mart I used to go to that never had new figures, but always had like 6 or 7 Paul Heyman figures that at the time were 2 or 3 years old.
What's the deal with stores like this? The only thing I could guess is that maybe the chains designate certain stores in a given district to be burn off locations. Once a specific SKU has been around for a given period of time, it gets boxed up and shipped off to another location, usually a much busier one, where it is much more likely to be sold. I know when I used to work at the movie theater, they did this periodically for old candy we stopped selling, and promotion cups and bags that were out of date as well, so it stands to reason that stores might do this with old merchandise, so it doesn't sit around forever.

My Kmart has Basic 1 My TRU still has Basic 3, though does also have Legends 3. My Walmart has PPV Jericho and Basic 2 My Boscovs has Basic 2 and Basic 8...weird, I know. My Target just got Basic 7 this week.

My K-Mart is stuck in 1996.
I'm surprised there's no GI Joe Street Fighter figures on the shelves.

the last time I was in my local Kmart, there were still 3 Flex Ums on the shelf. Had to have been there at least 4 years

Yeah the Kmarts around me are largely like that. They still have some Elite 1 Edge and Takers, and then the Signature HBK and Chris Jerichos. I still see EG Rey by the masses at Kmart too which is weird. I still see Basic 2 at some Targets and TRU has E3 and B3 out the ass still.
I know it is annoying but some times it works for you rather than against you, at least for me. A lot of times I will go and there won't be anything new so I will pick up a figure I passed up on several times initially. It happened with Legends 1 SCSA, Beth Phoenix, and WM Swagger for me and I ended being really happy with all those grabs.

Yeah, TRU must have been given a shipment of Elite 3. Several Christian, Shawn and The Miz E3 figures were there when I went last week. Speaking of TRU, they still have a bunch of Jakks WWE stuff that isn't moving. A lot of those are the later 3-packs with the BNB/RA/micro figures.

The Wal-mart near me still has a few Basic 3 figures.
I bought a Paul Heymen figure from Wal-mart back in January for $3.00 when the clearance sticker said $9.99 .

So far my stores have all gotten current things ;D Same -- the UK distribution is pretty weird, but the more reliable places (Toys R Us, Smyths, Forbidden Planet) are pretty much up to date. Well, up to series 6. I hope the series 7 basics make it out here before Christmas.

My closest TRU have brought out Elite 3 which was cool..because I got to get The Miz. But other than that all the other mattel lines are pretty up to date except legends as well. Wal-mart has been the place to go around me..and luckily I live close to 2 of them. Target has been the worst store for me..I never find anything there.
