On the final episode of ECW on SyFy on February 16th, 2010, the WWE announced the show that would replace it. The show would be a brand new concept to the WWE Universe, named WWE NXT, with the tagline 'The hunt for the WWE's next World Champion!'. After the weeks running up to Wrestlemania had passed by, and Wrestlemania itself had, the WWE announced the names of the twelve lucky Superstars who would be getting the chance at competing for an oppurtunity at the WWE or World Heavyweight Champion at the 'biggest party of the summer' SummerSlam! There was however, a twist. The Superstars could only compete if they could find a legendary mentor, who could guide them through the competition, and along the path to the glory of winning thier first ever World Championship...

I think the idea is just out there enough to work perfectly. Good luck Shifty. I wish you well in this.

I'll give it a go. It'll be better than the actual product. Is there a commentary team set?

The first four NXT Legend's revealed. Cody Rhodes: My choice for my Legendary Mentor is obvious. There is only one man in my life who I have admired, and respected both in, and out of the ring, and that man is my father, the American Dream, Dusty Rhodes. With my father as my mentor, and our bond already made, it's a surefire bet that you're next World Champion will be me, Cody Rhodes.
Ezekiel Jackson: While I have already made my mark on the WWE by being the final ECW Champion, I am looking towards the future, and being a WWE Champion. Building my body into the shape it's in really has been a combination of skill and concentration and my mentor is a man who back in his day was such a feat of physical prowess as myself. As I look to make history, I look back to men who made history for my Legendary Mentor, and have chosen WWE Hall of Famer, Tony Atlas.
Ted DiBiase: While I have been known as Ted DiBiase, it looks like I'm going to have to be 'Junior' again, as I have decided my Legendary Mentor will be none other than one of this year's Hall of Fame inductee's, my father, the 'Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase!
The Hart Dynasty: While we will be competing in the competition as individuals, there's no rule stating that we can't both have the same mentor. So we have decided that the best choice available to be our Legendary Mentor is none other than Bret 'The Hitman' Hart!

Great concept and your pulling it off well so far, my only fear is that you won't keep this up till the end I'm hoping you can prove me wrong, all contestants look good early prediction is the Miz, if your picking Legends alike thier mentors then I would say Piper for Miz and Steamboat for Bourne, but I like that you didn't just announce all the legends at once because I want to come back and find out who the other legends are, like I said so far so good, keep this up and good luck.

This is a unique idea and I hope it pans out in your favor in the end. I dislike DHS and TK both having Bret as a mentor though.

Three more Legends revealed. Evan Bourne: My mentor likes to fly, and I suppose that's why he earned his nickname, 'The Dragon'. He is a Hall of Famer, and he was one of my favourite superstars to watch growing up, so I'm glad to say my Legendary Mentor is Ricky Steamboat!
John Morrison: A two time Intercontinental Champion, A two time Tag Team Champion, and a former ECW Champion. In a way, his career reminds me of my own, and that made me think of him as the man I want to be my Legendary Mentor, as I'm sure he'll know how I've felt about my career here in the WWE so far, and will be able to help me move onto new heights. The man I've chosen to do the job is WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana!
Kofi Kingston: When I win NXT, and win my World Championship match, whomever it may be against, I hope my win will have much of an impact on the wrestling world as the man I have chosen to be my Legendary Mentor's did, and I hope my career continues as long as his did. Damn, I may as well say it, my choice for a Legendary Mentor is Ron Simmons!
