What is your opinion on the STRUCTURE (i.e. the way they are put together, strength of materials, scale, etc) of the premium figure rings available from Mattel and Jakks?
The Elite Scale Ring (ESR) from Mattel, and the Real Scale Ring (RSR) from Jakks (lets refer to the latest version where some problems were fixed from the earlier versions).
What are the good points of each? What are the bad points?
Please remember I am referring to the STRUCTURE of the rings, NOT the colors, logos or packaging (which are generally a matter of personal preference).
----
Personally I only own the Jakks RSR WrestleMania II edition. And whilst it's better than Jakks other rings, I don't think it's great. The scale seems slightly too big, the construction doesn't seem that strong and it doesn't feel heavy enough. Also the material parts aren't fitted that tightly, and I'm not impressed by Jakks way of making room for weapons underneath by in-effect just making a short ring and putting it on little stilts. It affects the sturdyness. It should be a solid ring that touches the floor but with holes for weapon storage. I do like the foam turnbuckles though, and the metal ringposts are excellent. But they should have been held in place by equally strong metal fixtures, not flimsy plastic fixtures. The ringsteps are also innacurate shaped.

If it touched the floor, it would be less accurate to a real ring.

I have the elimination chamber rsr ring and the wrestlemania rsr ring and both have lasted pretty nicely I would like to see some full scale pictures with figures in the ring of the mattel ring but don't feel the need at this time to purchase it.

I only have the Cell RSR. I like it. I want the Mattel Elite ring, but I'm not sure it's different enough (considering they're both Raw rings) to warrant the purchase. At least until I catch up with all the figures I want. So at the moment, higher priorities than the ring for me are:
Entrance Greats Undertaker, DiBiase and Jericho WrestleMania 26 Mysterio and Swagger Elite 7 Cena and Hart Dynasty Legends Ultimate Warrior, Hacksaw, Pillman, Demolition, Kamala Defining Moments Macho Man RSC Mysterio Two-packs 8 Legacy Basic 8 Maryse, Kofi, Masters and Kane
And that's just stuff that's already out!

I have WM1,WM2,and HIAC RSR versions and the Mattel Elite version. Truthfully they are about the same with only 2 major differences IMO. 1: the turnbuckle covers on the ESR are much better. They are removable yet sturdier than Jakks cloth ones. The downside to this is mattels turnuckles look more like TNA covers(the leathery kind) while jakks' looks more like WWE.
2: and this is one I am not too happy about. If you think jakks RSR is too big wait until you see mattels! Theirs is even bigger than jakks. I too think Jakks was slightly too large and now this one is bigger. Due to the size of both rings,I still hold out hope for a truly real scale ring someday. However, they both look nice and hold tons of figures. The ESR may be slightly better because of the sturdyness of the ring posts. But its a very close call.

i have the RSR WM2 verison & i'm very happy with it, i had the WM1 verison which kept fallen apart but the WM2 verison IMO is the best ring, with the ESR being bigger i won't be getting it as i'm very happy with this verison

I would go with a Mattel ESR
-The posts are sturdier -Ring steps are more accurate -Turnbuckle pads are removeable instantly -Removeable ringskirt with a richer design -Stronger, tighter, more realistic ropes -Authentic light blue mat/canvas color -Bouncier ring mat for better bumps
The RSR was good for the time, but it had a lot of flaws. The turnbuckle pads are hideously oversized and oddly shaped. The posts are too skinny, weak, and bend inward over time. The skirts are attached to the canvas, so it limits variablility a lot.
