When i saw the proto pics i thought to myself " These figures a absolutely horrible". I seriously was going to get Jakks TNA figures. (I do not have one yet). I got my first one about 2 weeks after they were released. (WM Heritage Edge & SCSA). Now my opinion went the different direction. Mattel is now my wrestling figure company.

I was excited at first, I was fed up with Jakks so I welcomed the change. Then I saw the proto pics for the Miz & Morrison two pack and I became a bit scared. I hated the look of both of their scans.
Then a week or so before Christmas I found series 1. I bought Bourne. Kofi, Triple H, & Cena. And I was impressed but still undecided on if I was gonna start up again. Then a few days later I got the two packs. As soon as I got a good look at Santino I was sold.
Then on Friday January 1st I went to Kmart and bought Finlay/Hornswoggle, The Colons, Batista in black, W.H. Austin & Taker, & the entrance great Triple H. Still couldn't bring myself to buy that damn Miz & Morrison set.
Now I'm hooked, & don't regret starting up again. It's been a great year.

I like them....the Flexforce look terrible and could never buy anything that anyone could have picked off the shelf and touched (where the figure is not in the packaging).
Trouble is availability and price in the UK...too expensive...not a big enough range and no Legends...

just like most people I saw the protos and was iffy about them. I even bought cena bourne batista and hhh and got very annoyed on how small they were so i just didn't care for them. once I saw Ricky Steamboat, Stone Cold and LOD, I bought them and now I own 40 plus mattels, (Basics, Elites, Legends, EGs) Mattel ESR, Summerslam spring ring, WWE spinner belt and IC belt. I fully quit on Jakks because of the scaling issues. I have even gotten some R3 Techs, TTL and TNA Toybiz to mix with Mattel and it is just really great to see how they all blend very nicely with each other than the Deluxe WWE/TNA figs. I only have 3 or 4 DA figs and about 20 RA/CS figs to add with my Mattels because the scaling and body types aren't that unrealistic so I would say thanks to mattel I now have a 85% real scale collection and this also makes things cheaper on my part for the fact that I won't buy Jakks much anymore and will focus on a company that makes me feel like a little kid again when buying figures.

Figure and price wise I'm dissapointed,Jakks is alot better. But detail and accesories has to go to Mattel by far.

I knew I'd start shelling out on WWE product as soon as I heard Jakks lost the license. As a company (Jakks), they have really done well with some cartoon licenses they've had, but for anatomically correct humans - I think they're terrible. I never understood how RA stuck around and R3 didn't! Anyway, I was definitely excited for Mattel, if only because it wasn't Jakks. I was familiar with previous lines they had done, particularly DC and understood that they were probably much better off economically than Jakks. The protos only confirmed how great they'd be, I liked them from the beginning (Although anyone remember that Triple H silhouette teaser we got? Got me worried for a second. It totally reminded me of a DA, luckily it looked a lot better in proper view).
Have they lived up to my expectations? Absolutely, whilst I expected good product, they've delivered way beyond anything I could have imagined: Huge array of stars (past and present) within a year, Many styles so consumers can choose the product that meets their needs most. My only problem is that a lot of parts reusage goes on. To someone who is used to NECA, Mezco, Kaiyodo etc., the amount of same molds used for different guys is kind of annoying. I understand that it's a mass market line and to remain economical, they need to do it to a certain extent. But heck, even Toybiz' TNA line used unique parts for the majority of characters. I guess it's only a small issue though, because unlike the competition, Mattel's default parts are much better in terms of realism. So, it's not like it really effects the aesthetic of the figure. I just personally like everyone to look a little different.

I've collected various Mattel products over the years...mostly the DC Universe line, MOTU, Ghostbusters and some Avatar stuff. I remember actually staying up on the boards the night proto pics were released and losing my mind with the awesome things that were on their way. I've been a loyal collector ever since and I continue to be impressed with the work done by them.

Initially when the announcement was made, I planned on calling it quits due to already having a large collection, and not wanting to start new again. But I was glad Jakks lost the license, because I was honestly fed up with their bait-n-switch, awful parts and cost-cutting crap all the time. I remember we got that preview image of a silhouetted Mattel Triple H, and everyone was worried that they'd wind up overdone and cartoony. Then those unpainted testshot protos hit eBay, giving us a spoiled preview of what was to come. Some guys looked a little skinny, but otherwise, I was incredibly impressed with what I saw. Shawn Michaels had his own pants mold that wasn't generic sweats. Evan Bourne got his own unique kickpads, and he was small like he should've been. The tall guys were tall, the small guys were small, and the average guys were average. I was blown away by that. I remember thinking "that guy should hang on to that Jeff Hardy, because it looks like Jeff's leaving WWE." HAH! Little did I know the controversy with that Jeff figure.
I believe some of them began hitting retail early in some other country. I wasn't sold on all of them, but I knew I had to at least get Chris Jericho. It looked just like him from head to toe. So, there was one I planned to get. Then we saw the original prototype pictures, where Mattel contrasted the hell out of them to show off their muscles or something, and they looked terrible. I and several others tried telling people that it was just an effect, and that they weren't going to look that bad in person, but...well, people hate adjusting previously held opinions on things, as I've come to learn in my adult life.
Long story short, I found my first Mattels at Kmart. They got Series 2 2-packs, but I didn't want any of them. Then my girlfriend at the time bought Basic 0 Jericho for me as a late Christmas gift. And slowly but surely, I've been rebuilding my collection. I initially didn't like the Elites since I hate the torso joint, but after getting Series 2 Orton, I knew I had to get more.
I'm going a little easier on Legends, though. Only getting my main wants or guys like Kamala, which are flat out amazing pieces.

I firstly thought Mattel would fail hard... I was never a collector of Jakks, but I did want to be one. Also, Mattel has never done any real life scans, so it was kinda 50/50. Right when I saw Undertaker ELITE 1, I knew Mattel would be AWEEEESOME.

I thought it was R3 recreated, but it soon became the best toy line I've ever seen for wrestling.

I first said to myself I will not be collecting them. I loved the Jakks Style (RA/CS). I picked up a Kofi and John Cena on New Years Day just to say I had them. They looked to much like Super Hero Toys. Afte awhile it started to grow on me and now I am collecting all the Legends/Entrance Greats/Defining Moments. It didn't hurt that they came out with never before figures such as Sheamus and Macho Man.
