They actually have a form you fill out to cancel your account, which deletes everything.
I thought at first I could only deactivate my account, but I found out that you can actually delete it.
They can do as Kliq was saying.
They know John Doe is bad and they see Jane, Tom and Amy with him. Well they are going to start looking into Jane, Tom and Amy to see if they are doing anything bad.

Didn't know you had a form to fill out to delete the whole thing, so that's something new to me. And again, it all depends on how serious the crime was, they won't go to everyone he interacts with on Facebook or look at one picture of him hanging out with a few people and they just go for all of them. They have to investigate it like every other crime, get the information they need before taking action.

The crime could be that he is a Ron Paul supporter. They can be classified as domestic terrorists. Well if you are in a picture with a terrorist, I think they'll look into it.

Don't know much of this Ron Paul guy (as I am from England and don't really follow international politics that much) but I don't think they'll look into everyone that person has a picture with, as they could support anyone else and again, need the information first before they can act.

I can't believe I am going to say this, but I totally agree with Slaphouse. I can easily see the government using Facebook as a tool to look for people of interest. Unfortunately, if someone else matches the criteria, they aren't just going to say "oops, wrong person, I am going to get off of this page right now". I don't want the government anywhere near anything I do. EVERYTHING that the government has done since enacting the Patriot Act related to homeland security has been a huge clusterf#ck. We have no rights, only privileges. Since you haven't been directly affected (which everyone has, you just don't see it), you see no problem. We joke about Big Brother, well this is it. The TSA human rights violations was one of the most blatant examples. I am going on a trip next week, and I don't even want to go now because I have to choose between being raped or being sent through a cancer machine. I went off on a bit of a tangent there, and I will admit to be more conspiracy-minded than some, but the bottom line is that nothing good can come from this.

The United States Government doesn't need information to act. They can hold people indefinitely. They can arrest you and figure out the charges later. They could support someone else, but they are in a picture with a terrorist. That raises some flags. If I was old enough at the time and there was a picture of me drinking beer with Richard Reid, they would have came and investigated me.

It is all about the Patriot Act. If that was never passed we'd be better off.

Well if you look him up, you'll see how completely unharmful he is and how he is probably one of the few non-corrupt politicians at the federal level. But anyway, it's a dangerous slope when we say, "Oh they won't enforce THAT law." It leaves open the opportunity for an innocent CITIZEN to be unlawfully imprisoned at any time.

So if I took a photo of Charles Manson back years ago and photoshopped my head onto one of the people he's standing by, then I was there..
If I photoshopped my head onto Godzilla destroying Japan... I WAS THERE.....
MY GAWD.. It's brilliant. I demand you come to my house and clean up all the water I just spit out because of your post. That was great. I really dont think anythings gonna happen with this. Will the government track us? Oh, yeah. Theyre already listening and watching everything we do. Will they be breaking into our house and taking us to Gitmo for our pictures? More than likely not. ;D

Slappy, you're nuts. Ron Paul guy, you're nuts.
What you need to realize is that the best solution to not letting "the government watch you masturbate" is to delete your Facebook account or not sign up for one. Alright?
By the way, I'm Colbert-Stewart all the way.
