it's winter break so i'm rewatching all of my tv series on dvd. my personal favorite show the office's first season is hard to watch. compared to the other seasons, it's just bad. and, after watching the british verison of the same series it's even worse.
anybody else feel this way about the office or any other show where it just drastically changed after a season?

I agree with you that the office has gotten way better with time.

Not to mention, the first season has TONS of background characters that NEVER appear again. And, the stock footage from the British version they used is unbearable.
It's like a totally different show.

Yea, it does seem different compared to the other Seasons, but I still love it, The Alliance is an amazing episode, but yea, I really like it, but then again, I enjoy the next 2 Seasons alot more

I still enjoyed the first season immensely, but I still believe that seasons 2 and 3 are the best seasons of any television show outside The Simpsons. Just brilliant comedy writing with such a broad range of characters being used and developed.

The first season is good, but they were still trying to create an identity, and didn't really hit it until the 2nd season.

It's not as bad as the recent season.

The past few seasons have been awful, the first season probably seems like The Godfather compared to what we have seen lately

I haven't watched season I in full in quite some time now. But the basketball episode just aired the other day, on re-run of course, and good lord is that episode funny. Michael was so obnoxious and unbelievably inappropriate back then! I love how he's talking about the staff's team and goes "Stanley, of course" Then Stanley is like "I'm sorry, what do you mean of course?" Then it turns out the guy can barely dribble, lol. I seriously need to re-watch the whole season now.

eh, i actually only liked the first few. afterward the comedy really seemed to become redundant.

The first season bored me to death. I watched the first couple episodes and was instantly turned off. Thankfully I stuck it out, recommended by a friend, and grew to love it.

Season 2 was incredible, particularly "The Injury," "Booze Cruise," "The Dundees" and "Casino Night." But yeah, the first season is a little hit-or-miss.
I've watched the U.S. version ever since the first season debuted as an NBC mid-season replacement, and it was funny enough to make me hope for it to get picked up for a second (full) season. But then Season 2 just made everything before or since seem subpar (with an exception here or there).
Great Michael Scott line from Casino Night when he realized he had two dates for the evening: "Two queens on Casino Night. I'm going to drop a deuce on everybody."
