Wrestling Observer News Update: December 28th, 2010
There was a major staff meeting at the TNA offices in Nashville, Tennessee as everyone was called off their holiday break for this meeting. Dixie Carter apologized to the staff for calling them off their break but informed them that things had to change, which got a lot of eye rolls considering the “change” Carter has spoke about for the past year.
Carter explained that while she was back home in Dallas, Texas for her own family's Christmas gathering, her father (and mother) dropped a nasty bombshell on her. She was informed that she had a year to “turn TNA around” in a financial aspect or else Panda Energy would be backing out of TNA Wrestling. She even told the staff (word for word, apparently) what Bob Carter said to her: “We didn't invest into a wrestling company to lose money.”
Many staff members asked questions to which Carter answered them head-on including questions about creative and everyone's job security. She stated that she didn't have all the answers but she would address everyone (including the talent roster) at “Genesis”.
We'll keep you updated on this situation as it progresses.

TNA Wrestling Presents... Genesis January 9th, 2011 Orlando, Florida Universal Studios
A video package opens the show looking at the build-up to “Genesis”, mainly focused on Matt Morgan vs. Mr. Anderson with a TNA World Title shot on the line. The theme song “Hey Superstar” plays through out the video package which comes to a close with both Anderson and Moran both stating. “I will be the next TNA World Heavyweight Champion...”
Jay Lethal © vs. Frankie Kazarian for the TNA X-Division Championship The first pay-per-view of the year kicks off strong as the stars of the X-Division take center stage to kick us off. The match opens up very smoothly with Kazarian taking control of the match out of the collar-elbow tie-up before taking Lethal to the mat with a side headlock. Lethal is able to get out of the side head-lock and the matches takes off in typical X-Division fashion. Ric Flair is at ringside throughout the match yelling out commands at Kazarian but they aren't able to help him as Lethal takes control of the match. Flair attempts to interfere at one-point, but is ejected from the ringside area much to the delight of the fans! Lethal turns his attention to Flair and mocks him by waving goodbye which allows Kazarian to roll Lethal up for a two count. The ending saw Lethal hit the “Lethal Injection” for the pin-fall victory. Winner and still X-Division Champion: Jay Lethal
The cameras switch over to Mike Tenay and Taz who comment on the loss of Kazarian. Taz puts over how Eric Bischoff can't be happy about this one before they put over the rest of the card including our main event of “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan vs. Mr. Anderson with the winner becoming the number one contender for the TNA Worlds Heavyweight Championship
Backstage, Brother Devon is interviewed about his match with Bully (Brother) Ray tonight. Devon puts over how while Bully Ray has been joking around and picking on young guys like Amazing Red, he's been training and getting prepared for this match. He states that if Bully Ray wanted to go their separate ways then he should have came to him like a man and told him to his face, not jump him from behind.
A video package plays hyping up Brother Devon vs. Bully Ray including footage from their arrival from TNA up until the present.
Bully Ray vs. Brother Devon These two former tag team partners tore one another apart in this one. It wasn't your typical match but more of a brawl that spilled all over the ringside area and up onto the stage. Bully Ray attempted to hit a power bomb off the stage but Brother Devon fought it off. The ending saw Bully Ray hit the “Bully Bomb” on Devon for the victory. After the match, Bully Ray started to leave but changed his mind and came back down to the ring and pulled a table out from under the ring. He set the table up on the arena floor right under the stage and went back to drag Devon to the top of the stage. Bully Ray then successfully hit a power bomb on Devon right off the stage and through the table! A TNA medical team came out to check on Devon before placing him on a stretcher and hauling him off as Bully Ray stood on the stage and watched. Winner: Bully Ray
Backstage, Eric Bischoff is crawling Kazarian's case about losing to Jay Lethal tonight. He tells Kazarian that he can't keep pulling strings with lawyers and judges all over his case, so unless Kazarian does something to earn another shot, Immortal is screwed. Bischoff turns his attention to Beer Money Inc. and AJ Styles telling them to “get the job done” while reminding AJ Styles that if he doesn't bring home the World Television Championship then he's out of Fortune and Immortal.
Backstage, The Beautiful People (Velvet Sky and Angelina Love) are interviewed about Velvet's match tonight against Sarita. Sky puts over how Sarita is to blame to why she isn't the Knockout Tag Team Champion with Angelina Love instead of that “psycho” Winter. Winter appears behind Sky and listens to her finish her promo, Sky walks off and Love starts to follow but Winter grabs her wrist and asks her to stay in the back. Love refuses and walks off.
Sarita vs. Velvet Sky Sarita and Sky are far from friends following the attack by Sarita a few weeks back and it definitely showed in this contest. The most interesting moment in the match occurred when Sky was on the ring-apron and Sarita dropkicked her off which caused Sky to land right on Angelina Love. Winter came out and checked on Love along with cradling her head as Sarita picks up the victory in the ring. Winter jumps in the ring post match and Sarita thinks she wants to fight but Winter attacks Sky instead! Winter continues the assault until Angelina Love pulls her off and checks on her fallen tag team partner. Love helps Sky to the arena floor and up the ramp as Winter begs Love to come back. Winner: Sarita
Backstage, Douglas Williams is interviewed about his match with “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles tonight. Williams puts over AJ Styles as a great wrestler who is able to adapt to anyone's style, but states that his head just isn't in the game anymore. Williams comments about knowing a guy a few years back that busted his a** in the ring and didn't need politics to get ahead. His name? AJ Styles.
Douglas Williams © vs. AJ Styles for the TNA World Television Championship A fantastic contest that could have easily been the main event tonight. Styles and Williams started the match off with a fair amount of chain wrestling before speeding the match up as AJ Styles took advantage using his high flying ability. Styles and Williams both seemed worn out by the 15 minute mark but didn't let one another know as they kept going in overdrive. The finish saw AJ Styles go for a springboard 450 Splash but Douglas rolled out of the way, which allowed him to take advantage as Styles grabbed his ribs and got to his feet. Williams hit the “Chaos Theory” for the pin fall victory! Styles was visibly in shock as Williams celebrated on the stage. Winner and still TNA World Television Champion: Douglas Williams
Backstage, Jeff Jarrett is shown with “Team Jarrett” warming up for his “open challenge Double J, Double M, A exhibition match.
Jeff Jarrett's “Double J Double M A Challenge Kurt Angle is the one who accepted the challenge but insisted that instead of Jarrett's money, if he beat Jarrett tonight he wanted back in TNA Wrestling... no questions asked. Jarrett agreed stating that Angle stood no chance of beating him. This was one of the better open challenges (obviously) as Angle shows why he is an Olympic gold medalist. Angle picks up the victory following an Ankle Lock as Jarrett is forced to tap out in pain. Winner: Kurt Angle
AJ Styles is shown getting his bag together backstage when Eric Bischoff comes in. Bischoff stares at Styles while the rest of Fortune and Immortal watch. Bischoff screams at AJ Styles due to his loss here tonight, he claims all he heard before joining TNA was how great AJ Styles was and how he was the corner stone of TNA who turned down millions of dollars because he loved this company. “What happened that guy?!”, Styles turns toward Bischoff and goes to say something, but Bischoff slaps him in the face and tells him to keep his mouth shut. Styles swings at Bishoff but Gunner and Murphy grabs him from hitting Eric. “Are you going to hit me, AJ? Come on, hit me and I'll make sure that you lose your job! Get him out of my building!” Gunner and Murphy escorts Styles out of the locker room and toward the parking lot.
Madison Rayne © vs. Mickie James for the TNA Knockout Championship This was a fantastic Knockouts match that could easily get the Knockouts back on track. Rayne and James instantly clicked in this match which brought the match up huge in quality. The fans where into this one from the opening bell. The ending saw James about to win the Knockouts Championship and was looking to go for the kick to the head, but Tara jumped on the apron (missing her elbow brace) which distracted both Tara and the official. Madison Rayne then picked up Tara's brace off the corner of the ring and used it on the back of James' before tossing it out of the ring for the victory. Winner and still TNA Knockouts Champion: Madison Rayne
Styles is shown being taken out to the parking lot and is steadily giving Gunner and Murphy a mouthful about how he's the reason this company exists. They push him out the back door and toss his bag out behind him before closing the door. Styles is walking off toward his car (still in wrestling gear) when a limo pulls up and the driver gets out. He asks AJ Styles if he can take his bag, Styles says that he didn't call for a limo... the driver says that he knows, it was arranged to take Styles to the airport. Styles gets in, confused and the driver returns to the front seat and pulls off.
The cameras show The Motor City Machine Guns heading down the hall-way backstage when out of nowhere Magnus and Desmond Wolfe walk up. The Machine Guns and London Brawling have a few second stare down until Wolfe wishes them luck in their match and offers a hand shake. Shelley says that they aren't going to fall for their tricks and they walk off.
A video package airs hyping up The Motor City Machine Guns vs. Beer Money Inc for the TNA World Tag Team Championship.
The Motor City Machine Guns © vs. Beer Money Inc for the TNA World Tag Team Championship This was no different than any of their matches in the past: Awesome. The fans were on their feet through out the entire match from bell-to-bell. The pressure was definitely on for Beer Money Inc knowing how angry Bischoff was about Kazarian's loss earlier in the evening. Beer Money used more of a brawling style which definitely helped in this contest as it was able to keep the Guns from flying around the ring even though they still got a few dives in. The contest ended with James Storm laying out Sabin with a Superkick, Shelley laying Roode out with Sliced Bread, and then Shelley and Storm going at it. Shelley nailed a super-kick on Storm and stubbled back into the ropes which rebounded him to fall right on-top of Storm for the three count. Tenay and Taz both put out how that was pure luck for Alex Shelley to be able to fall forward onto Storm. The official is shown trying to get Shelley to his feet (along with Sabin) as this was a very exhausting match. Winners and Still TNA World Tag Team Champions: The Motor City Machine Guns
Mr. Anderson and Matt Morgan are shown warming up in their respective locker rooms for the main event... it's next.
A video package airs hyping up the main event as Mr Anderson battles Matt Morgan for the #1 Contendership for the Worlds Heavyweight Championship. We then see the “Tale of the Tape” for the match.
Mr. Anderson vs. “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan This was a solid main event match but definitely something that could have been saved for a broadcast of iMPACT, regardless of that the match was still solid. Anderson and Morgan seemed to not really click due to their different styles (along with size) but the fans still enjoyed the match. Morgan almost had the match won following a choke slam but Anderson got his foot on the rope to break the count. The ending saw Anderson hit a splash on Morgan in the corner and climb to the middle rope beside the turnbuckles and grab Morgan for the “Mic Check” for the victory. Anderson celebrated his victory and had a stare down with Jeff Hardy (who was on commentary) to close the pay-per-view. Winner and the #1 Contender for the TNA Worlds Heavyweight Championship: Mr. Anderson... Anderson
A video package airs hyping up “Against All Odds 2011” clips of Mr. Anderson (including the nasty chair shot by Jeff Hardy) playing to his voice stating: “I have waited my entire career for this moment. I have sacrificed everything in the world for this chance. I will go up against all odds to finale capture my moment, to cement my legacy in history... I will be the next TNA World Heavyweight Champion”.

TNA iMPACT January 13th, 2011 Universeal Studios in Orlando, Florida “A New Year Beat down”
A video package airs looking back at the very first pay-per-view of the year for TNA Wrestling, “Genesis”. It highlights all the matches and looks at the end of AJ Styles in Fortune/Immortal. We then fade into the opening video package still dominated by Immortal before going inside the iMPACT Zone to see the pyrotechnics as Mike Tenay and Taz welcome us to the broadcast.
Mr. Anderson's music plays as he comes out to the delight of the fans. Anderson calls for his microphone to drop and introduces himself as the new number one contender for the TNA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. He puts over Matt Morgan as a major challenge and road bump in the road to claim his destiny of being the TNA Worlds Heavyweight Champion when he is interrupted by the music of the TNA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Hardy. Hardy congratulates Anderson on his victory at “Genesis” and states that he deserves what is coming to him at “Against All Odds”. Anderson smirks and states that he'll get his revenge on Hardy for the concussion, even stating that if Hardy keeps pushing him... Hardy will be the next concussion victim. Hardy brings up how Anderson a few weeks ago was all “anti-concussions” and now he's treating to give them out, which he think is a little hypocritical. Anderson states that it's not hypocritical because Hardy deserves it at this point as all he has done since “Bound for Glory” is hide behind Immortal and Hulk Hogan. “They're not going to be here forever, Jeff. There will come a day when you have to grow a set and fight a fight on your own... that day will be at Against All Odds even if I have to take out every member of Immortal between now and then”. Hardy smirks and tells Anderson to “do what he's gotta do” before leaving. Anderson watches Hardy leave before leaving the ring himself.
Backstage, a long white limo pulls up and “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles steps out but he's not along as the former TNA President, Dixie Carter steps out behind him. Dixie Carter has returned to the iMPACT Zone!
[commercial break]
TNA X-Division Champion, Jay Lethal defeated Max Buck [w/ Jeremy Buck] in a non-title match This was a solid singles contest with the X-Division setting the bar for the rest of the matches. Max Buck still seems a little off in singles competition and comes off more comfortable in tag team action. Jeremy Buck tried to interfere but Lethal drop kicked him off the apron to stop him. Lethal picked up the win with the Lethal Injection.
The cameras show Eric Bischoff confronting Dixie Carter and AJ Styles backstage. Bischoff tells Carter that she needs his permission to be in the building, but Carter reminds him that her lawyers are watching tonight so she recommends letting her go to the ring to speak to the TNA fans. Bischoff agrees under the condition that “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles competes in the main event... against “The Monster” Abyss. Styles and Carter agree before walking away leaving Bischoff to watch them.
A video package airs hyping up “Against All Odds” on February 13th, 2011 exclusively on pay-per-view.
Velvet Sky and Angelina Love are shown talking backstage, Sky tells Love to get her “psycho” of a tag team partner in control or she will. Winter appears in the room and states that Sky is the one who needs to get under control as she attacked Angelina at “Genesis”. Sky tells Winter to get her head out of the sky and watch the footage, Sarita kicked Sky off the apron. Winter says otherwise but reminds Love that they have a match tonight and she needs to get ready. Love and Winter leave as Sky is angry.
Beer Money Inc. (“Cowboy” James Storm & Robert Roode) defeated Ink Inc. (“Prince of Punk” Shannon Moore & Jesse Neal This was a decent tag team contest with lots of action between the two tag teams and almost took a turn for the worst in Jesse Neal's case. Roode had the official distracted as he was attacking Shannon Moore on the floor, which allowed Storm to attempt to use the beer bottle on Jesse Neal when out of nowhere a woman hopped in the ring and took the beer bottle out of his hand before bailing from the ring. Jesse Neal hit a spear on Storm, but was only able to get a two count. Beer Money Inc., were able to hit the D.W.I for the victory. Post-match, the woman returned to check on Ink Inc, they appeared to know who she was.
[commercial break]
The music of Dixie Carter played through out the iMPACT Zone as she came down to the ring for the first time in months. Carter thanked the fans for their continue support in this on-going legal battle with Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan, she reminded them this wasn't going to be an easy battle but hopes they'll continue to stick by her side. She stated that while she would be fitting in the court room, she needed talent in the back to fight the good fight here. She stated that over the past few months she's noticed a certain person who has taken a step back and been staying out of the spotlight – AJ Styles. Carter states that Styles has shown his lack of participation in Immortal for the most part and is tired of being abused by Immortal, she calls Styles to the ring. He comes out and states that while he has enjoyed his time in Fortune... he can't be in the group with them being associated with Immortal. Styles puts over how he doesn't agree with anything that Immortal wants to accomplish and refuses to play nice to protect his job anymore. He then asks that Beer Money Inc. and Kazarian join him to fight the good fight. Kazarian comes out and says this is typical AJ Styles, trying to be the “better man” and do “what's right” instead of doing what's smart. Kazarian states that he and Beer Money Inc, do agree with what Immortal are doing. Kazarian states that “AJ Styles needs Immortal and Fortune, we don't need you!”.
Backstage, Jesse Neal and Shannon Moore are walking backstage with their unknown woman when Christy Hemme approaches asking who she was. They claim she's someone who fits in perfect with them and their tag team, Christie Erie.
Tara & Madison Rayne defeated TNA Knockout Tag Team Champions, Angelina Love and Winter in a non-title match An okay women's match but felt a little slow at points due to the injured Tara's participation. Mickie James came out and joined commentary where she stated that Eric Bischoff was very understanding of her situation and has granted her a rematch for “Against All Odd” if she can win her match next week against a mystery opponent. The ending saw Tara remove her elbow brace and attempt to use it on Love but Velvet Sky ran out and pulled it out of her hand at the last minute. Tara told Sky to “try it” and Sky swung at her but nailed Love by mistake allowing Tara and Rayne to pick up the victory! Sky checked on Love as Winter snapped at ringside and attacked Sky again. She hit a DDT on Sky and pulled Love to the arena floor before helping her to the back.
The cameras turn backstage to Mr. Anderson's locker room where Anderson is shown watching the show when Matt Morgan comes in. Morgan pulls up a chair beside Anderson and congratulates him on his victory at “Genesis” before wishing him luck at “Against All Odds”. Morgan admits that Anderson was the better man... but promises that no matter who is World Heavyweight Champion, Morgan will never be too far behind. Anderson glares at Morgan as he leaves the room as we go to commercial break.
[commercial break]
Bully Ray defeated Shark Boy Bully Ray came out and dominated poor Shark Boy here. Bully Ray picked up the victory with the “Bully Bomb” on Shark Boy for the pin fall After the match, Bully Ray got on the microphone where he proclaimed that this is the start of his winning streak and when he wins ten matches... he will challenge the TNA World Television Champion, Douglas Williams to a match! The “Bully Ray Winning Streak” continues next week.
Backstage, AJ Styles is getting reading for his match when Douglas Williams approaches him. Williams says that he totally understands the position AJ Styles was in with Immortal and it's great to see the old AJ Styles coming back. Styles tells Williams that while he might not like him, he does respect his talent and appreciates the return of respect. Williams tells Styles that if Immortal ever gets out of hand... to let him know, they would love to help AJ Styles out. Williams walks out as Styles seems a little taken back by not only the respect but who the other people are.
Eric Bischoff is shown yelling at “The Monster” Abyss to fire him up, Bischoff says he wants AJ Styles to suffer like he has never suffered before!
Jeff Jarrett made his way down to the ring and said that the Double J, Double M A Challenge would contuie as his is scratching the loss to Kurt Angle from the record books. The iMPACT Zone begins a huge “You Tapped Out” chant toward Jarrett but a member of “Team Jarrett” cuffs Jarrett's ears so he doesn't have to hear them. Jarrett calls out a kid from the audience to accept the challenge but the kid refuses. Jarrett calls the kid a chicken until Kurt Angle's music hits! Angle cuts a promo on Jarrett regarding his loss to Angle at “Genesis”, but Jarrett swears up and down that he didn't tap but was attempting to crawl toward the ropes. Jarrett says he can beat Angle anytime including “Against All Odds”! Angle asks if that was a challenge which Jarrett says it was but before Angle could say anything, Gunner and Murphy attack Kurt Angle. They beat him down before tossing him into the ring with Jarrett who locks a rear naked choke on as the “referee” for the MMA Challenge rings the bell, Angle is knocked out so the official calls for the bell as Jarrett beats Kurt Angle!
[commercial break]
We return from commercial break with Eric Bischoff making his way down to the broadcast table with Mike Tenay and Taz for our main event.
“The Phenomenal” AJ Styles defeated “The Monster” Abyss This was a fantastic way to close the show with Styles and Abyss putting on a good twenty minute contest with lots of back and forth action. Abyss and Styles are no strangers to one another as who could forget their classic battles back in the asylum in the early days of TNA Wrestling. Abyss back dropped Styles to the arena floor and it started to go down hill for “The Phenomenal” one as Abyss tossed him all over the ringside area. Abyss tossed him over the guard rail and they fought up the arena steps before Abyss attempted to toss Styles over the side of the bleachers down about ten feet to the floor, but Styles fought him off and sent him tumbling down the steps back to the floor. Styles took advantage after a springboard forearm off the guardrail onto Abyss. Styles picked up the win following a Pele kick and a springboard 450 splash for the pinball.
After the match, Fortune hit the ring and attacked “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles! It was a three on one beat down until Abyss recovered and Jarrett made his way to the ring. The beat down got really nasty including a sick chair shot to the head of AJ Styles by Kazarian which split Styles open! Jeff Hardy came out and applauded the beat down until Mr. Anderson attacked Hardy from behind. This lead to Douglas Williams, The Motor City Machine Guns, Jay Lethal, and a few others hit the ring to fight Immortal off. Abyss was the only one attacking AJ Styles until Samoa Joe's music hit and Joe unleashed hell on Abyss! The show came to a close with The Motor City Machine Guns, Douglas Williams, Jay Lethal, and Samoa Joe checking on AJ Styles while others such as Eric Young made sure Immortal and Fortune stayed away. A very graphic shot of Kazarian's hands and chest was shown with AJ Styles blood all over him as we fade to black.

TNA iMPACT: Thursday 13th January 2011...The size=1 font is killing me. Mr Anderson's promo was a nice start, basically revealing himself as the number one contender to the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, and with Jeff Hardy facing court time, could expect Anderson taking the title, which wouldn't be a problem to me. Why Kennedy and Matt Morgan main evented Genesis though, I'm not quite sure. Just can't see the value in that main event, personally. Love the lack of emphesis on the Immortal faction, rather it was Hardy representing himself. Jay Lethal kicking off the show is nice, how Lethal is remaining and doing well as TNA X-Division Champion after all this time is quite refreshing. Lethal with the win against Max Buck is fine, hope to see the X-Division back as a full-functioning massive group, worthy of fighting champions such as Lethal. Beer Money beating Ink Inc. is fine, wonder who this woman is that attends to Shannon Moore and Jesse Neal. I just wonder what else there is for Beer Money Inc to do in TNA. They've done all they can do as a functioning team in the company. Dixie Carter's promo was very intense, the legal battle reference is nice, and I like her mentioning AJ Styles, and AJ going face? Could be great, love the idea of Kazarian and Styles perhaps. Tara and Madison Rayne beating Angelina Love and...Winter? Acceptable tag team bout, not familiar with Winter. Bully Ray...only heard bad things about this scenario. Squash win against Shark Boy, just hope after the impressive streak of great AJ/Douglas Williams matches we've had recently that Bully Ray keeps away from Williams' TNA World Television Championship streak. Could be an interesting situation though. Jeff Jarrett's current gimmick is quite bizarre, liked him calling out Kurt Angle, but really how much have we seen this? Solid main event with AJ Styles beating Abyss, liked Fortune beating AJ down, but loved Samoa Joe, Douglas Williams, Motor City Machine Guns, Jay Lethal and Samoa Joe making the save. A good episode of iMPACT and I'll keep up, but only flaws I find is there's a lot of things that have been done before. The Fortune/Immortal and TNA Originals thing reminds me of when the exact band of AJ's helpers grouped against Main Event Mafia. Jarrett and Angle, Beer Money on top of the tag division, just a few things. Hope you can fight the repetitiveness.

You always book these situations for TNA and I'd really like to see one stick for a while for once. Good opening promo and I like the touch of having AJ come out of the limo with Dixie. Jay Lethal winning was rather obvious, you're going to need to sign some new X Division stars to bolster the division. Liking the tension between Winter/Sky/Love. Beer Money winning was the right call and I'm guessing the girl is the one with the mohawk that TNA recently signed. Her name slips my mind but I like this addition. I love how AJ enjoyed Fourtune but dislikes Immortal, really logical stuff. Glad you're keeping Kaz & Beer Money heel also. Anytime Madison Rayne wins, I'm all for it, curious about who James' mystery opponent for next week will be. Not a fan of the Bully Ray stuff, but that's not your fault. Interested in who Douglas Williams means when he says "they". The Double J Double M A challenge was well done, looking forward to Angle/Jarrett but I hope it doesn't last too long. Good main event and the post-match war was well done. I do feel like that may have been too much like MEM/Frontline, but I hope you can make it different. Overall, good show.

TNA iMPACT January 20th, 2011 Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida The Rise of the Phenomenal One?
TNA iMPACT opens up with a video package looking back at the vicious attack on “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles on last week's broadcast. It included some post-attack footage of AJ Styles having stitches put in his head. We then moved inside the iMPACT Zone with no pyrotechnics as...
The music of Immortal played as each and every member made their way down to the ring. Bischoff mainly spoke about how despite Dixie Carter and AJ Styles' best efforts to get Fortune to turn their backs on Immortal, they're not stupid and they know where the future is. Bischoff told Carter that she can keep sitting at home and watching the broadcast because that is all she will ever do because this is his and Hulk Hogan's company for good. The music of Mr. Anderson hit the arena as he came out onto the stage and spoke up for AJ Styles who hadn't arrived at the building yet. Anderson stated that as soon as he becomes the TNA World Heavyweight Champion at “Against All Odds”, this entire Immortal regime would crumble without the TNA World Heavyweight Championship... the real TNA World Heavyweight Championship, not whatever “that” is that Jeff Hardy carries around. Bischoff decided to book Mr.Anderson in the main event (much like with AJ last week) against... Abyss! Abyss pointed toward Anderson as we go to commercial.
[commercial break]
Mickie James defeated Sarita This was actually a rematch from Mickie James' wrestling debut a few months back on iMPACT, still a good match with James looking to get a rematch at Madison Rayne's TNA Knockout Championship. James would pick up the win following a kick to the head that Tenay called the “Mick Kick” for the pin. After the match, James celebrated until Tara hit the ring attacking James before holding her up to allow Madison Rayne to nail in her the face with the TNA Knockout Championship.
Beer Money Inc cut a promo backstage claiming that The Motor City Machine Guns got lucky at “Genesis” and if they were fighting champions, they would give them their earned rematch. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin walked into the picture, they stated that they were right and deserved a rematch at “Against All Odds”. James Storm turned to walk away but turned back and bashed a beer bottle over the head of Alex Shelley while Roode tossed Sabin into a locker headfirst. “While we're at it, let's make it a bar room brawl!” Storm said walking over the prone body of Alex Shelley who is clutching his eye.
Backstage, Mr. Anderson gives his thoughts on his match with “The Monster” Abyss. He states that it is a simple case of Eric Bischoff trying to soften him up for “Against All Odds” but nothing will stop him from capturing the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
Bully Ray defeated Orlando Jordan This was another one of Bully Ray's schemes to earn a TNA World Television Title shot as he faced off against Orlando Jordan. Jordan had the fans support (surprisingly) in this match as Eric Young cheered him on at ringside. Young's cheerleading was not helpful as Bully Ray picked up the victory following the “Bully Bomb”, after the match he challenged Young to a match next week.
[commercial break]
Backstage, Eric Bischoff approached the TNA World Television Champion, Douglas Williams to remind him that he had to defend that title whenever and wherever which includes tonight against “The Freak” Rob Terry! Williams stated he was looking forward to the challenge.
Max Buck defeated Jesse Neal It was announced during this match that Ink Inc and Generation Me would do battle at “Against All Odds” with the winning tag team earning a future TNA World Tag Team Title shot. This was a solid contest with Neal trying to use his brawling style to stop the high flying Max Buck, but it was not to be as Buck picks up the victory following a 450 splash from the top rope.
Backstage, Alex Shelley is shown being helped to an ambulance in the parking lot with a piece of gauze on his eye from the attack. Sabin doesn't get into the back of the ambulance as we move to our next match.
Douglas Williams defeated “The Freak” Rob Terry to retain the TNA World Television Championship via Disqualification A decent contest but it was hurt due to the lack of ability of Rob Terry. The finish saw Terry refuse to break a choke on Williams after a five count. After the match, Terry beat down on Williams until London Brawling [Desmond Wolfe & Magnus] hit the ring. Terry and London Brawling had a stare down as the fans began to think that London Brawling was with Terry until London Brawling jumped on Terry! They beat up on Terry before tossing him to the arena floor. Magnus handed Douglas his television championship as we go to commercial break.
[commercial break]
Backstage, London Brawling explains why they are back with a change of attitude. They proclaim that they see clearly that they, London Brawling and Williams need to stick together during this tough time. “Is this a change of attitude of London Brawling? No, it's not. We are the same two guys we have always been... we're just helping out a friend. Motor City Machine Guns, London will be calling... be sure to pick it up”.
Robbie E defeated TNA X-Division Champion, Jay Lethal in a non-title match This was a good X-Division contest that we are use to seeing from these two talented wrestlers, Lethal would almost pick up the victory but once again Cookie would interfere until Christy Hemme (once again) came down to the ring and a cat fight broke out between the two. This distracted Lethal and he turned around into a cutter by Robbie E for the victory! Mike Tenay stated this has to be Robbie E back into the title picture for Lethal's championship.
We turn to ringside where Mike Tenay and Taz run down “Against All Odds” including newly added matches: Ink Inc vs. Generation Me, Motor City Machine Guns vs. Beer Money Inc [Bar Room Brawl].
Velvet Sky is shown talking to Angelina Love backstage, Sky questions Love's loyalty to the group but Love states that she is the one who interfered in a match that she wasn't in, costing her a victory. Sky said she was trying to help but Love didn't seem to want to listen. "I'll tell you what Angelina, when you actually trust me again then you give me a call because until you and your psycho friend are finished, I'm out of here.

Chris Sabin comes down to the ring, angry and demands James Storm get his a** to the ring! He says Shelley has been taken to the hospital and could be blind because of the attack! James Storm comes out but Sabin is blindsided by Robert Roode. A two on one assault happens before Beer Money hits the D.W.I on Sabin and leaves the ring smiling.
Backstage, Eric Bischoff gives Abyss the same hype that he did last week regarding AJ Styles. Bischoff tells Abyss to make sure Anderson doesn't make it to next week, much less “Against All Odds”.
The cameras shown Mr. Anderson leaving his locker room... our main event is next.
“The Monster” Abyss defeated Mr. Anderson This was a solid match, a rematch of sorts from the debut that Mr. Anderson had at “TNA Genesis” a little over a year ago. Anderson seemed to be better than ever following the concussion but was still a little loopy after a big boot by Abyss, but who wouldn't be? Abyss picked up the victory with the “Black Hole Slam” for the pin fall After the match, Jeff Hardy came up and told Abyss to hold Anderson up with the back of Anderson's head facing Hardy, Hardy attempted to give Mr. Anderson another concussion the same way the original happened until AJ Styles hit the ring from out of nowhere! Styles and Abyss exchanged some shots as Hardy bailed from the ring. Abyss had the advantage until Mr. Anderson was able to recover from the Black Hole Slam and crack the steel chair across the back of Abyss as he was looking to chokeslam AJ Styles. Anderson and Styles gave each other a little look of thanks before they both looked toward the stage at the TNA World Heavyweight Champion clutching his championship as we go off air.

The opening segment was fine as it served its purpose to announce Abyss/Anderson as the main event. I can see Anderson winning the strap at AAO and thankfully getting rid of the Immortal Championship design. Mickie beating Sarita is win, I just hope you push Sarita once Mickie/Rayne's feud wraps up. Loved the Beer Money/Machine Guns backstage segment. Not really a fan of Bully Ray's push continuing, but on the other hand I'm glad you're not just dropping it as if it was never happening in real life. Buck/Neal is decent, glad Buck won. Absolutely loved Mangus and Desmond Wolfe seemingly aligning with Terry before turning on him. The "London will be calling.. be sure to pick it up" line was great. While I love Robbie E and Cookie, I just wish their feud with Lethal was over. The Beautiful People splitting up? Interesting. I was confused at Abyss beating Anderson since I totally wasn't expecting that, but I like how you had Anderson dazed and confused due to the concussion and that ultimately cost him the match. Anderson and Styles standing tall at the end of the show was good.

TNA iMPACT: Thursday 20th January 2011...Immortal in the ring is a good start to iMPACT, good set up for tonight, Abyss and Mr Anderson should be an interesting match, basic set up to try and put the roadblock in the way of Anderson on the way to Jeff Hardy's TNA World Heavyweight Championship opportunity. Mickie James and Sarita had a hot opening contest, maybe would have chose a better choice of opening bout, but this was fine. Was my dream match idea in early 2009. Liked Beer Money Inc's accusation about the Motor City Machine Guns. Just got to wonder, what else can these two teams do together? They've already had the massive Best of Five/Seven series this past year. Orlando Jordan's gone face I assume? Bully Ray, fair enough. I thought Bully Ray had been booked to face Douglas Williams this week for the TNA World Television Championship? Weird. Max Buck beating Jesse Neal is fine, interesting with the succession of number one contender matches on pay-per-views. Ink Inc and Generation Me is a fresh combination of teams though. Douglas Williams beating Rob Terry was the better decision, good idea to strengthen the prestige of the World Television title. London Brawling returning is great, hoping to see them get the TNA World Tag Team Championships fairly soon. Robbie E and Jay Lethal....nothing that fresh, could squeeze some more out of the feud though. I feel the Beautiful People's time in the sun is over. Chris Sabin wanting James Storm alone? Doubtful, Robert Roode is quite well. Expected the two-on-one beatdown, was quite expected really. Sort of made Sabin look dumb. Lastly, a decent main event win for Abyss against Mr Anderson, liked AJ Styles getting involved on Anderson's behalf. A good episode of iMPACT, did prefer last week's though. This is getting quite addictive.

-With Anderson being an enemy to Jeff Hardy of immortal, I can see why this could mean punishment for Anderson against Abyss tonight. -Mickie over Sarita is fine, these are two divas looking atop the division alongside others, which means for a good match. Good call too. -Bully Ray over Orlando Jordan is always right in my opinion since I'm not a fan of Orlando Jordan. -Max over Neal is cool either way, basically both needing momentum going into their tag match. -Williams over Terry via DQ could set up conflict and did. Wonder what's next for this feud. -Robbie E is most likely back in the title picture after the win. Another match between them is fine. -I like that Anderson lost due to Immortal's distractions and all and not cleanly. Some good hype for AAO. -Good show.
