Being a big Rey Mysterio fan, I'd love to collect his nicer attires, but I'll gladly skip a basic style Rey because they're so useless for play. What's a Rey Mysterio action figure good for, if you can't do a hurricarana with it?
It'd be nice, if basic Mysterios had, at the very least, Elite-style hip articulation. Double knee joints and the ab crunch would be welcome, but the Elite-style hips are a must for playability. The basic Divas and Hornswoggle figures have that extra movement. Why not Rey?
Would anybody else be enticed to buy more basic Mysterios, if those figures had more (leg) movement?

Yeah, i would buy Basic Rey's if they had more leg articulation.

I only have 1 Rey. My Elite 1 Rey. It's perfect as is, and I especially don't want a Basic Rey due to the legs.

No because where do you draw the line? Do you give Basic HBK the same since you can't do a proper Superkick? What about Triple H and not being able to do a proper Pedigree etc?

Sure, it'd be great. But why stop at Rey Mysterio? Why not just make all the basic figures to have elite articulation but be basic price? That'd be nice. Completely ridiculous and unrealistic expectation, of course.

I just think Rey should be the exception since he has so many more colorful attires compared to other superstars that get regular releases.
If I could break it down to a couple of superstars that would be hybrids - basic with Elite hips - I'd go with:
Rey Mysterio Kofi Kingston Edge CM Punk Evan Bourne Christian The Miz HBK (if he were to get more basic releases)

I know I already posted, but I figured I would again.. The fact is, this is why Mattel has Elites. To make us pay more for the extra articulation on guys like Mysterio, HBK, Bourne, Kingston, and Punk.

Completely ridiculous and unrealistic expectation, of course. This. Why would Mattel make Rey Elite style for Basic price? I mean they are called "Basics" for a reason. What would be Mattel's reasoning/excuse to justify this for Elite/Legends collectors who would be paying $15 for figures with the same articulation?

^Under my little scenario, you wouldn't be getting the full Elite treatment, just the hips since they're the most important joints for playability. There would still be the accessories + double knees + stomach joint + more paint detail to justify the price difference. My big thing is I just hate that wrestling figures in 2011 still have t-crotches. It's so BACKWARDS. The singles of TNA and Lucha Libre USA are the same price as basics. Sure, they don't have Superstar Scale and maybe they aren't as detailed, but they do have Elite-level articulation and are arguably more playable than Elites. I remember in one of the early Mattel interviews, they said one of the biggest things kids wanted out of the new WWE figures was to be able to do wrestling moves. No sh-t. So their answer to this request was action features for Flex Force and t-crotches for the basics...
