I have no problem with him spanking him with the belt. That was in no way, shape, or form abuse. That kid is still a teenager, not in his 20s. Should he have put it on youtube and facebook? No, probably not. Sometimes when a kid is on the brink, it takes tough love to alter their course. I applaud him for not letting the kid get caught up in "thug" culture. I agree. The only problem is you and I were probably raised in an old school southern mentality. The world now days feels you should "talk" to your kids or give them time outs and crap. My parents talked to me, it went in one ear and out the other. I got timeouts and punishments, It didnt affect me and usually I ended up doing the same things again. I got my ass whipped a few times too, guess what.....Never again did I do what I got my ass whipped for. One reason the world is so F'd up right now is cause a parent cant whip a kids ass when he/she acts out of line.

Whoever doesn't side with the uncle is insane to me. IF[/i] a kid is posting gangster like rants on the internet, and bringing those problems to his home life, he deserves it. A belt to the ass isn't even that big of a deal.
It's like..god damn, the kid's old enough to know better. If not, sounds like a good punishment to me.

Oh come on. For all we know that kid deserved it. You had baggy jeans on. He barely felt a thing.
The worst thing to come out of this is now everyone is laughing at him.

I dont always respond to thread in the Lounge because usually they all lead to arguments but trust me, you and I tend to agree on many many things my friend.

Yep. There's videos ALL OVER the net of people getting confronted or beaten up over being Facebook gangsters. It's clear that this guy wanted no parts of that for his nephew and his family.

The question of was the belt necessary....yes b/c he is a teenager and lets all be honest....like it was said before...the teenager was big enough to retaliate if he really felt threatened but honestly...he didnt because he let it happen and you saw the look of humiliation on his face. which by the swings the uncle was making, was all that he was going to accomplish with it. And for those comparing it to childhoods where they were way young and beaten constantly...thats a bit partisan...you were younger and craplike that shouldnt escalate but for me to try to whip my teen(when she becomes one) with my hand would be ignorant... like it was said...its all situational....though I do find it amusing that some want the uncle to go to jail or be tried at least. Were already getting to the point in society where its not even ok to yell at are kids...eventually that will prolly get you time too. My questions is....does the uncle have a criminal record of violence? Did he do it out of love or loathing for the kid? What purpose did it serve and did it serve its intention...to put a man behind bars for spanking a child is ridiculous. i spank my daughter on the occasions when it calls for it....never do i hurt her but always she feels the hurt of knowing that she was embarrassed a little. So I am under the understanding that I should be arrested under some of this logic...

I pissed myself laughing at that video.
I may sound mean but Im old school and a firm believer in hittin your kids. I dont mean beating the crap out of them but a smack upside the back of the head or spanking will often keep kids in line

Whether or not you agree that the kid "deserved it" is irrelevant to the fact that the uncle is committing assault.
Like I said, if you believe strongly enough that what you're doing is right, then you should be willing to deal with the consequences for your actions as well.

I agree with the old school way of discipline. the uncle obviously did this for his nephew's own good.

damn, do some of you guys lack any form of empathy, lol? He's a human being, for christ's sake. Want to know why the kid probably posed as a gang member? he's socially excluded from his family, and with an 'uncle' like that, who walks around topless, swearing and beating his nephew, who the hell can blame him? The guy's the typical alpha male, he's probably stuck in a crappy job, socially and economically deprived, and takes out his frustration on those around him. edit: on another note, 'you know you watch too much wrestling when...' the first thing you thought of whilst watching that is poor Husky Harris, lmao

All of you guys are overreacting. I've gotten whippings worse than that for cutting up when I was a kid. This isn't complex at all Some parents spank their childred as a form of disciplin. My only gripe is that he put it on the internet. If that's what we're arguing here, then fine, I agree. But if we're arguing that parent's shoult spank/chastise their kids at all ina physical manner, then I'll have to disagree completely. Btw, The Husky Harris whipping was harder to watch than that. Agred with this and TRW.

Bid deal!!! I was expecting a whole lot worse. I have no problem with what I saw. He wasn't punching, kicking or throwing the kid against the wall.
