True. He wants no part of Shogun. Who do you got on Bones/Shogun James? I don't know. Jones is very impressive. The guy obviously has pretty well-rounded skills but I STILL say his striking is his weakest skill. He moves pretty well, and has a GREAT advantage over everyone just because of his long reach, which I think is going to help him fight anyone as long as he knows how to use it correctly. The issue with this fight that I see is that Jones has NEVER fought someone who works good off their back OR anyone with the jiu-jitsu that Shogun has. Shogun was able to get up easily with Lyoto twice, and knows lots of submission techniques off his back. ALSO, Shogun is the first pure striker that Jones has faced. Jones has pretty much faced nothing but wrestlers, and no strikers. That leads me to believe Shogun will win either by Submission or KO. That does not mean that the fight will be easy for him. I just think it's a little too early for Jones, and I think he should of fought someone like Rampage before getting a title shot. Sounds about right. They're clearly throwing all their chips on this kid. And who wouldn't? He's a monster! I remember the first time I saw Bones fight I was blown away by both his size and reach. His elbows are also a huge part of his game when used correctly. Totally agree he should of faced a better striker before this but I'm sure they'll do their best in his camp. It boils down to Shogun either keeping pressure on the feet and overwhelming Bones, or grabbing one of those limbs that are just waiting to be submitted. It really is tough to call which makes it a great fight.

GSP is amazing. But this is the guy that got KO'd by Serra. I think I will take the guy who has never lost in the UFC.
Very happy for Kingsbury, he repped AKA very well.
Jones looked great. But I get this feeling the UFC is blowing their wad on him a little to soon. He is only 23. I think you should let him learn more before feeding him to a guy like Shogun. That being said, I wish him nothing but the best. He will be a UFC champion no doubt, but why so early? Why no Shogun/Rampage rematch?
Anyone know what tattoo and where at Forrest picked for Franklin?
Torres looked pretty dull. He was to affraid to pull the trigger. He lacks the killer instinct he once had.

To be fair Sonnen put Silva on his ass a couple of times too with some crisp shots. And Sonnen's game-plan is ALL wrestling. He's not a stand-up fighter at all.

Silva was never hurt. Silva landed the more powerful shots.

To be fair Sonnen put Silva on his ass a couple of times too with some crisp shots. And Sonnen's game-plan is ALL wrestling. He's not a stand-up fighter at all. Exactly. The reason it worked it because Anderson was not expecting it. Anderson knows GSP is going to bring everything, not just wrestling. I think Silva will beat GSP with relative ease. He's just to smart. GSP is the work horse, Silva is the brains. Silva had broken ribs aganst Sonnen. It is hard to breathe, non the less stop takedowns and work off your back with weight ontop of you.

Silva was never hurt. Silva landed the more powerful shots. I just laughed at that when Chael almost dropped Anderson. I would always hear those "Anderson would rule in K-1!!!" statements, and he gets dropped by a wrestler? hah. So which set of words will you be eating?

"Dropped" and "Hurt" are two different things. Fighters get "dropped" all the time and get right back up.
I realize Anderson is probably the best MMA striker around, but I don't think he'll do too great in boxing or K-1. That comment was essentially done in satire because of all the Sherdog posts I have seen about Anderson being able to take on the elite of K-1. Wasn't really a jab on him.

Ok...
So I'm taking it you're calling Silva over GSP?

Probably. It's a tough fight for both, but my money would be on Silva.

Silva lulled Sonnen into a false sense of security regarding his takedowns ensuring Sonnen couldn't get past his guard. I don't think GSP has taken on someone with the reach that Silva has, but then again, anything can happen. Silva's P4P GOAT(in the UFC) but I wouldn't give that kind of credit to anyone. Saying he "lulled Sonnen into a false sense of security regarding his takedowns" by killed for 4 1/2 rounds and almost finished. He got a lucky break when Sonnen's dumbass sat up at the end. I'm quoting Silva himself from the Countdown show I saw last night, and I kind of believe it, though agree Sonnen's wrestling was great that night...

I gotcha. I wasn't trying to call down anyone, but to say Silva's win over Sonnen was anything than a miracle is nuts. And I honest to God wasn't trying to discredit Silva when I called it a lucky break. I would have said that about anyone, Fedor, BJ(who's my favorite), St, Pierre, ANYONE. Hell call it a miracle like I just did, but Silva was extremely fortunate Sonnen's not as smart as say a GSP on the ground and sat up on him. Granted the decision would have been revered regardless after Sonnen tested positive, but it still would have left a nasty black mark on his legacy. Silva's king, that's all there is to it. This video says it best - "Anderson Silva....is a ing monster."

Fair enough mate, I gotcha, all good, but I'm at a loss to know where he goes from here should he beat GSP down the line...he truly is a monster, someone who Rogan once said is 'a different kind of striker'.

If he beats St. Pierre then honestly there's truly nothing left for him to do. Technically there's Okami, but if he beats St. Pierre...then I feel it would COMPLETELY devalue the Okami fight, not that it has alot of hype coming with it already, but if he were to get through Pierre then move onto Okami I feel most fans would write it off, understandably too.
Sonnen's done, I think just about everyone with the exception of the pocket of die-hards has written him and his rematch off. Silva's cleaned his division out, he's taken on 205ers including a former champion in Forrest Griffin, he's about the take on the P4P king of Welterweights(granted it's at his weight class but regardless).
Guy may rub people the wrong way, you don't have to like him, I sure don't, but with MMA I make it a HUGE goal to try and push bias aside when talking about it, and Anderson Silva is undeniable right now.
If I were him, if I beat Pierre, I'd cash my chips in, vacate the belt, retire back to Brazil with my fortune and glory, and spend the rest of my days only fighting with my wife. But hey that's just me. Silva has a chance to go out on top like no other fighter ever has before, not even Fedor at this point.

"Nobody knows the kick" Oh LAWD! Is this guy for real? What a clown. Everyone KNOWS the kick, but no one can use it properly. Like I said, when was the last time you ever saw anyone effectively use that to knock someone out? NEVER.

Like I said, when was the last time you ever saw anyone effectively use that to knock someone out? NEVER. Please tell me you're joking. Going by your logic Ramon Dekkers, Alistair Overeem, and Buakaw know that kick, but can't use it properly. FYI, the kick that KO'd Vitor was a teep, and it's one of the most basic kicks in Muay Thai. Silva also used it successfully in the fight with Dan Henderson. The fact that Seagal claims to have created that has me laughing hysterically.

It is a little crazy for him to think or say he created the kick, but the kick isn't quite as effective as people make it to be. It's basically used to send your opponent back to set up other strikes, not to knock someone out.

If Steven Seagal created the teep, then Chuck Norris created the jab.
