Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich has told insiders that he plans to run for president in 2012, with Georgia as his base, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. According to the report, Gingrich has reached out to several prominent Republicans in his former home state in the last 24 hours, stating he intends on a 2012 presidential run. www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/21/newt-gingrich-2012-presidential-run_n_812510.htmlI don't know why he decided to run now. He doesn't have a shot in hell of winning. He may have had a shot in 1996, but today, not a chance.

I have a funny feeling the Elections this year are going to be "A bunch of guys who've gotten their ass kicked in the past 20 years" vs Obama
Oh, and he certainly didnt have a shot in 1996. I could give a whole list of guys that I knew never had a shot in the past 20 years. Most of them run every year thinking they are going to make a change.

I shouldn't have said he had a shot, I should have said he would have had a better shot then than now.
He was the top Republican in the country. Would have been entertaining. But then they went and chose Bob Dole.
There will be one guy that runs that hasn't had his ass kicked before and that is Jon Huntsman, ambassador to China and former Governor of Utah. He was a potential candidate and then VP candidate in 2008. He certainly could attract the middle and maybe even some Democrats.

Ron Paul is gonna kick this countrys ass next year Highly doubtful, but one can only hope that Americans finally decide to stand up for what's right and not which politicians are willing to spew them the lies. Vote for someone who has a proven track record of *gasp* supporting what he preaches!

I don't believe Newt would have a chance at winning. I think he is just too polarizing.

Obama is very beatable. He ran and promised sweeping and groundbreaking change. Instead we got politics as usual. Not really surprising in that regard TBH. One man can't change Washington. He promised tons of stuff there was no way in the world he could deliver and got everyone's hopes up. Sadly the Republicans have no one at all who can possibly mount any sort of viable campaign.

Some of the "smaller" names that will run this time are probably going to run so they can raise their profile so they can run in 2016.

There was a time when I would have voted for Newt, but that time is not now.

Honestly, if someone gave me a free pizza for winning, it would be more than I have ever gotten before.

Vote for someone who has a proven track record of *gasp* supporting what he preaches! it was highly doubtful last year this time that the Tea Party would have as much a voice as it did now but things change. if id of told you last year theyd put Paul as Chairman of the House Subcommittee for Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology, id be laughed out the forums. but it happened
