Lyoto Machida and Tito Ortiz need to win their next figt to continue to fight for the UFC.
He also said that GSP vs. Silva is very likely to happen this year.

Seems really believable on Tito, considering how ineffective he's been in recent years. Not so sure about Loyoto though. Unless Dana has been really unimpressed with him since the first Shogun fight, it'd seem odd to let Machida go after 1 more loss. Especially considering how controversial the loss to Rampage was. Though perhaps if Machida is absolutely annihilated in his next fight, I could maybe understand it.
As for GSP/Silva, while I do sense we're getting closer to that fight, I'll believe it when I see it. I personally hope that if/when it does happen, both guys are still on their winning streaks. It'd make an already interesting match-up all the more amazing.

Dana would not let Machida go if he loses to Couture, I would be over a million dollars that he'd get another shot. This is just one of those situations where Dana is saying that Fighter A has his back against the wall, he's a loss away from a slump, and sh*t needs to get real. No where does he say that "I will release Machida if he loses to Couture." Tito, he'll be out. Arguably he should be out already, he's 0-4-1 in his last five. Come on, now. If little Nogueira was 0-4-1 in his last five he wouldn't be around. Silva vs. St. Pierre? Um, yes the  please. |

This is being over-reported.
He said that it's a "must-win" for Machida, but that's because Machida himself "sees it as a must-win."

I hope Machida wins then, it'd suck for him to be cut like that, after being undefeated for some time...as for Silva VS GSP, that should be proper awesome...

I'll believe the Silva/GSP rumor when they're staring each other down in the middle of the Octagon with a referee between them reading out the rules.
Not discrediting you at all PB, but I'm just saying that fight is so much of a dream for me, I'll literally have to see it to believe it.

There's NO WAY Machida would be cut if he lost to Couture... he's been fighting only top guys and has been very competitive - remember: a lot of people thought he beat Rampage last time out... including Rampage himself judging by his post-fight expressions/interview, lol. It's a different situation for Tito though... he really needs to win or it could be the end of his career (or his UFC career, anyway). |

I'm sure Ortiz would just defect to a bush league if they cut him. He'll always be a decent name and draw, regardless of how downhill his career is.
