Because with their characters Cena is like a modern-day version of Hulk Hogan back when Hogan was Hulkamania, there are so many similarities between Hulkamania and Cena, like it is so not funny, and John Cena has a limited moveset similar to how Hogan had a limited moveset as well, both are popular, both have went into Hollywood and been movie stars, and Hogan with his Hulkamania gimmick and Cena with his Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect gimmick is like almost a way similar to Hulkamania
Like WWE, Cena is not Hogan, and he never will be as far as I'm concerned
Overall I just really hate John Cena as a wrestler, maybe if Cena turned heel, I would actually like him more.

I agree with you that both of them have a very limited move set. I wouldnt go ahead and say both men were movie stars. Also agree with John Cena being a better Heel.

John Cena if he were to turn heel again, I would want him to go back to his Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick which made him so popular, or at least give him a Hollywood gimmick similar to Hogan

I wouldn't say they have the same character, but they're using the same formula. I think this is why people, especially people over the age of 14, flat out just dislike Cena's character.
However, as much as people will hate what I say. WWE don't really know how to build characters anymore. Sure, there are people who can say negatives things towards a face. (The only reason Nexus is even hated, is because they say mean things to John Cena) That's not building a character AT ALL, and I think it's stupid if people think that it is.
They just know how to make people say mean things to Cena to get them over as a Heel..but then again, look at Orton. Who is a shitty version of Steve Austin. If Austin did ANYTHING that Orton does to get hated or liked, people wouldn't even want to see him on TV.
-Can you imagine Austin getting angry and hissing? I sure can't.

Cena can't be a mega star to me. Well, to us 20 years olds or attitude era fans, but to the kids he can. But, by 2006 when he started hearing all those boos; to me, i think he couldn't handle it. He lost that attitude he once had. He doesn't have that ego that HBK, Stone Cold or The Rock has. He needs to be liked to be great. And you can't.

If pro wrestling was as popular now is it was during Hulkamania then we would be living through Cenamania right now. Hogan and Cena essentially share the exact same demographic. Someone said it was the same formula and I agree with that. It is a formula that makes money and during these times WWE is going to do whatever they can to make money. Cena isn't going anywhere so it shocks me that the IWC keeps getting bent out of shape year-after-year with this guy. |
