A question for the readers of WF (I know there are a few of you out there):
Lately, I've found myself delving back into the written word (without pictures and word bubbles) pretty heavily. However, with the recent opening of a used bookstore (All paperbacks $2! All hardcovers $3), along with the one-two punch of Amazon's deep discounts coupled with the free shipping I get with prime, I've found myself buying books faster than I can read them. As of today's purchase, I presently have (meaning in my possession, ready to go when I am) five books in queue to pick from once I finish the one I'm on now.
Anyone else do this? Just me? And for the added punch, if you're gonna reply, give a little insight into what you're reading right now? For me, it's a book by a local talk radio host called "That's No Angry Mob, That's My Mom: Team Obama's Assault On Tea-Party, Talk Radio Americans".

I don't stockpile books to read, where I can just pick one and go. But I'm currently working my way through The Heroin Diaries: A Year In The Life Of A Shattered Rock Star by Nikki Sixx. It's really good, and I've been wanting to read it, and finally am. Next up though, I do wanna read Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir by Dave Mustaine.

I'm intensely weary of autobiographies, especially by rock stars, because they always seem to be written by a ghost writer, rather than, at very least, with the assistance of one. Do you know what the case is with those two books? Mustaine's story would be really interesting - in his words, at least.

Whenever I go to the local library to rent a movie (I know, right?) I check out the used bookstore they have and just pick up anything that looks interesting. Usually classic books or philosophy. Sometimes history. Books are usually ~$1.50 on average, sometimes less and never more than $3. I have a huge stack of books that I haven't read. I'll go through them this summer when I have more time for personal reading.

Great read. It's an entertainment book then again they give you a lot of pointers on how to treat situations like an a**hole. Here is a quote from it, "An a**hole and a douchebag are two completely different people. One is never forgotten and the other no one likes, not even their mom."

All five of my books in queue are non fiction accounts, ranging from a banned book on the minimum wage job market to a personal account of a transorbital lobotomy received at the age of 12.

Nikki's is his journal entries that he kept in 1987, and then interviews with him and other people who were there and knew him. I don't know about Dave's.

I'm presently reading 3 books (I have a short attention span and have to bounce back and forth to maintain my desire to read at all, however, I can tell you about each of them with fairly great detail)
My first read, which has become my bathroom read, is Sun Tzu's The Art of War. I picked this up, being a filmmaker and a business man of course with the desire to learn how to bury my future opponents. Some of the accounts are dated, however, the concepts and ideas of a large majority of it so far have been fantastic. Plus, Bill Belichick read it and it seems to have paid off for him thus far.
My second read is The Physics of Superheroes (2nd Ed.) I have had more trouble getting through this because I'm not a science fan, but I am finding it quite fascinating. The superhero nerd in me is fueling the educational nerd in me -- so I'm double the nerd with one good read.
My final book at the moment is one I just picked up today and haven't been able to put down, it is The Action Bible. Pretty much what they did was took the bible, and made it a long comic book. A fantastic idea for those of us who love Jesus...but can't stand reading the red words...
All in all, I have enjoyed each of them immensely thus far.

I don't really stockpile in that way. I usually wait till I read the one I have and then investigate as to where I go next. But there are times when i have had the money I have made of list. Currently I have about 5 books from a small spree during xmas. I have been through 2 of them but 3 to go...I chose a couple diff. authors this time.
But I also will usually be listening to an audiobook, which I usually stockpile my mp3 with mythology, philosophy, physics and such. I tend to get tired and bored when I read those sorts of texts outright but if I listen its easier but its the exact opposite when it comes to literature.

I've been reading a lot lately. Most of what I've read is religious text. I've mostly bought online because it's considerably cheaper than going into borders or Barnes Noble. Also I hate when I check online for either Barnes/Borders and the web page tells me a book is available at a certain store and when I drive out there they dont have it.
I dont really stock pile. I read one book, and then re-read it a few times before I move on to the next.

I'm reading the Walt Disney biography by Neal Gabler. He got unprecedented access to the Disney archives and put out an exhaustive (900 pages) history of the man. If you can handle slow-ish, detail heavy readings, practically thesis or essay like, it's just wildly fascinating. Factually, it's got some issues, but it's still fantastic.

God, I have dozens of books I haven't read yet. Whenever I come across a book that interests me, I almost always go ahead and get it. Weird thing about me is that I don't like to get just one thing at a time. I don't know why, maybe it's because I don't like shopping that much and don't like to go out unless there's multiple things I need. But that carries over into books or movies I buy as well. I'll wait until I have a few that I want and buy them all. So I have a bookshelf half-full of books I haven't read yet. I keep thinking I'll get around to them but whenever I finish a book I'm in the mood for something completely different and I go searching for something new. I bought a ton of books in January/February so I'm really making a conscious effort to buy few-to-no books in March.
I primarily buy fiction books. I rarely read nonfiction, unless I think I need to read something to help with a story I'm writing or a wrestling book like Jericho's or Foley's. I've read all of their stuff so far and I imagine I'll keep on buying anymore they publish.

I just started getting back into reading this past year and definitely bought way too much before reading any, this was my problem with video games as well.
I'm currently going through Jericho's first book again since I haven't read it in a few years and just got his 2nd one for my birthday today. In the last few months I've read A Study In Scarlet, Joker (graphic novel), The Dark Knight Returns (graphic novel), Shutter Island, and the Scott Pilgrim series. I have about 6-12 graphic novels/books in my backlog that I will get to before I buy any new ones. I don't really know what books are considered "good" so I usually just stop into the section I find most interesting which is Mystery and randomly start looking at the back of books that I find interesting.

I do all my reading on my Kindle(s) any more so I don't have any physical books laying around waiting for me. I tend to read a ton of fiction. I've got on my list right now:
Wicked Naked Heat The Trench The Once and Future King Good to Great A Short History of Nearly Everything The Alchemist
I jump around from book to book. This is why I love the Kindle stuff so much. It syncs across the 4 different devices I read on so I can read where ever.
