I hate to be the ass here but lots of people saw this coming. He was a massive drug addict and was the reason AIC's first manager quit because the band wouldn't do anything to stop him at the time. Sucks that he died, but the guy had a lot of problems and this was really a sooner or later case.

Thats really sad. The original Alice In Chains has always been my favorite band, so this hits close to home. RIP Mike, you and Layne will always be missed.

R.I.P....i guess he's the man in the box.....what, too soon? Not cool. Don't make fun of him just because he's Down in a Hole. Seriously though, I love Alice in Chains. This is awful, but as previously mentioned, anyone who's seen Celebrity Rehab knows this isn't surprising. R.I.P.

Guess Dr. Drew didn't really do anything. Yeah, its not like he had severe addiction to opiates. Do you not realize how very few addicts stay clean, especially ones that have been doing drugs for 20+ years?

grungereport.net/?p=3354Mike Starr was set to tour with Days Of The New, excited about returning to the stage:Days of the New had a series of tour dates that were advertised starting with a standalone show on February 28th in Las Vegas and resuming on March 10th in Tennessee and ending on March 19th in Florida. Former Alice In Chains Mike Starr was set to start with the band on February 28th but was unable to play due to his arrest. It’s a shame Mike never got to go on another tour, rest in peace Mike! Days of the New drummer Ray Rizzo “tweeted” the following: Raskizz Ray Rizzo- The Las Vegas show was to be the first of a run of shows that would have been Mike’s return to the stage. It was no secret it was a bad idea.Travis said Mike was taking it way intensely, the idea of playing again. He would tell Trav, “tomorrow I’m going to practice. I’ll have it.” The other guy who was going to play with us in Vegas also didn’t make it to the show. He was luckier – he checked into rehab. I dunno how tweeting this can help, but the fact that Travis was the healthiest of the 3 didn’t mean he was well either. I’m worried for him. That's sad I love Days Of The New, I bet this would have sounded great!

Wow, that's a real shame. He was a great musician who watched alot of his friends die, but still couldn't overcome his addiction.
