Called that ending since the first day it was made. Leben just did it faster than I thought. I told you guys months ago when the fight was made Leben would knock him out because Wanderlei has lost his chin. You all said "Wanderlei by murder" or "You don't know what you're talking about. Wanderlei slaughters him." In 2005, yes. In 2011, we just saw what happened. CANNOT allow the love of a fighter to get in the way of stone cold facts. I LOVE Wanderlei but facts are facts. He. is. Done. Has been since Rampage.

Awesome fight so far. I think Faber is doing just a bit better. He is making good shots on every exit, and he hit a couple good elbows from the bottom in that takedown, and escaped quickly, and Cruz did nothing with the takedown

I don't care who wins or if it is a draw, Edgar/Maynard this shit, immediate rematch, that was one hell of a  ing fight, I want to see these two go at it again ASAP. |

Cruz's style really pisses me off. That said, great fight and couldn't have really asked for a better main event.

Had it 49-48 Cruz just about but was expecting a draw.

Cruz Vs Faber was sick. I would love to see a rematch for sure.
Gutted that Wandy went out like that, and in the first. Kudos to Leben, glad he is back to his winning ways.

im curious what the rest of your opinions are on cruz/faber. im gonna go to the bar for a while now, but in the morning, i definitely plan on watching this fight again... damn near every round was unadulteratedly close.

Obviously I'm ing stoked about how this card went. I was literally shaking when Leben won, I couldn't have wished for a better outcome. Stopping the Axe Murderer in under 30 seconds. I saw SOOOOOOOO many people counting Leben out, and my comeback was obviously "Axe Murderer is gonna get Crippled" Faber/Cruz- I had Cruz winning that, Faber just doesn't seem the same lately, although it wasn't too bad. Condit surprised me, as well as Tito (never saw that coming) Amazing card, kicking myself in the ass that I didn't go to this card. |

Same exact thing happened to Liddell, my favorite of all time. He was getting knocked flat by hard hitters and everyone begged him to retire because it was getting sad. Wanderlei is almost in the same boat here. There's only so many wars you can get into before your body and chin just say "enough". Chuck's chin was wrecked after Rashad. Wanderlei's chin was wrecked by Rampage. If he fights again, the opponent knows all they have to do is hit him once, just like Leben knew. Leben withstood Wanderlei. Wanderlei was out cold with Lebens first hard hit. Its sad that the legendary Wanderlei Silva is seeing his carer go like this. I want him to retire ASAP. 6 losses in 8 fights, and a bunch were but horrid knockout. Chuck went out with 3 straight brutal KO's. I don't want the same to happen to Wanderlei. |

Chuck was a completely different situation. He got nearly KO'ed by Jardine, which is when I realized, he'll never be the same. Wanderlei won't get KO'ed by guys like Jardine, OR Franklin (as seen at UFC 99).
MMA Math is funny, right? Leben gets beat by Bisping, Bisping loses to Wanderlei, and Leben KO's Wanderlei. This is why STYLES MAKE FIGHTS. If Wanderlei went in there a LITTLE more conservative, he probably could have knocked out Leben. Wanderlei goes out WHILE trying to knock guys out. Chuck just gets outclasses by guys.
Ultimately, it's up to Wanderlei to decide what to do. He's a fighters fighter. He fights because he wants to give the fans something to remember, so you can't ever complain about him. His philosophy has ALWAYS been either get the KO, or get knocked out yourself.

Damn, what a night of fights? One of the few times I can remember the prelims and the main card just being outstanding. Personally, I had Siver winning the first and third. Kudos to Tito for pulling out the win, and that was a damn hard right for someone who's not know for power punches. What a ing knockout by both Liben and Condit, but Condit's knee was the right choice for KOTN. Great main event, but Cruz won that one. Bring on the trilogy! |
