I just watched the WHOLE thing on VHS again. Its was the first Wrestling PPV I ever saw. I am amazed how ing godly it was. Sting/Hogan was great, and Bret Hart coming in added more fuel to my adrenaline. Has anyone seen it and does anyone else think this is probably the GREATEST PPV ever?

Definatley the most anticipated match ever, however sting himself even said it could have been better.

At the time it was the biggest show ever, or for me it was. My interest in the WWF had just began, seeing how as I was raised to be a WCW fan and never really knew about the WWF.
I remember only caring about the Sting/Hogan match, nothing else mattered in life for those few weeks before the show.
Dear lord, to be a young wrestling fan again.

I remember it being the most anticipated WCW PPV of all time, but ending up to be the first nail in WCW's coffin. The show was very poorly booked, with most of the NWO guys going over at the show where the WCW guys were supposed to get revenge for the NWO's antics in the year leading up to it. Also, the fact that Hogan, the greedy bastard dominated the main event and Patrick delivered the pinfall at normal speed, which was supposed to be a 'fast count'. That one moment killed Sting's WCW career and was the beginning of the end, in my opinion.

nWo helped the Rise of WCW and the Demise of WCW in my opinion, they should of gotten Rid of Hogan straight after Starrcade in my opinion and should have worked on other Main Event guys, It seemed the Whole time Hogan was in WCW it seemed to Revolve around him which pissed me off about WCW, I got bored with the Hollywood Gimmick about a Year in, Hogan got Stale but WCW still kept him Number 1.
The Lead up for Sting V Hogan was amazing, a HUGE Buildup I mean it wasn't a short 1-2 Months it was close to a Year, Sting pulled everything off Right, Hogan was more of the Decoy for Sting's rise for the Main Event, Sting basically became a Household name after Starrcade in my opinion.

I can't believe that a match that was built for so long and so well written had such a botched finish?

I actually liked Starrcade '96 the best. Don't get me wrong, I thought '98 was good too but I liked '96 better.

I just watched '97 recently. Back in '97 it was great, but when there is no hype around, you realize how bullcrapthe entire show was. And Sting even ing lost. It was botched so bad, it looked pathetic. Kevin Nash ed up one of the bigger matches on the card too with his bullcrapexcuse no show.

No way, even in the Early days of Nitro people still didn't know who Sting really was, most people knew him for the Crow Gimmick more than the Surfer Gimmick.

That's just not true. If you watched WCW, you knew who Sting was. He had many high profile fueds with Flair and Vader, was a short time member of the Horsemen, multi time champion....people knew who Sting was.

I remember the hype and build up for the show. It was great. Myself and a friend were watching the show, and I guess a couple of my other friends got informed that we were watching it, and came over to watch it too. Watching the Main Event was a really cool experience.

You really don't know what you're talking about. Sting was one of the biggest names in wrestling WAY before the "Crow" gimmick. He had major feuds with Ric Flair/The Horsemen, Vader, Rude and even Luger. He was one of the most over guys in the business...

They hype the match for close to a year and expect you to pay for it. The night after it happens, they have the match again on free tv! WCW was so messed up it's not even funny.
