Yankees sign Eric Chavez to a 1-year $900,000 deal pending a physical. Hopefully he can play in more than 58 games this year.

I'm really glad they brought him and Andruw back because they are going to help the team out for low money.

Personally, I hope Chavez doesn't play too many games. Means something terribly wrong happended to A-Rod.

Eric Chavez was a super duper star, then got hurt constantly and was never the same.
He is a good bench guy, but to expect him to play more than half the games in a season is just foolish.

Hopefully A-Rod doesn't continue his 4 year downward spiral of playing less games, hitting for less power, and being constantly injured.....but if he does, Nunez and Chavez will have to pick up the slack at 3rd.
Or trade the entire farm system for David Wright. Probably pretty unrealistic, but I'd love to get him on the Yankees at 3rd and have A-Rod be just a DH.

Trading the farm for David Wright would be incredibly stupid.

I hate David Wright and would be glad to have in the AL where they don't have to see him all the time, but trading the entire farm system for him would be incredibly foolish and short sighted.

David Wright is 29 and if you get him away from the Mets, away from Citi Field, away from being the only superstar on the team who the media goes to for answers when something goes wrong....I think he could do a LOT of damage for the next 6-7 years.
Except for Gary Sanchez and Manny Banuelos.....I can't think of any other prospects who should be considered untouchable or not worth trading for a player of Wright's caliber, especially considering A-rod is sinking faster than any previous Superstar in history.
I mean, we traded Jesus Montero for a guy like Pineda who's got 2 pitches according to Brian Cashman, who also said we shouldn't expect a lot from Pineda this season as he's a "work in progress".
It's not like if you traded for Wright that you'd be hoping it worked out. Hitters are going to hit no matter what. You don't worry about Fielder not hitting well in Detroit, or Pujols not hitting well in Anahiem.....it's usually young pitchers you trade for or free agent pitchers that you gamble on.
I'd love David Wright on the Yankees. The Yankees need some insurance regardless though. Because if A-Rod goes down, we don't have anybody who can replace what we need from his position. Nunez is dicey with his throws to first, and even as an everyday player Nunez will never put up 30/100, which as a best case scenario is the most we could get from A-Rod ever again (probably won't ever do that again though anyway). It's tough to go 30/100 when you only play 100 games a season.

Wait Im confused, Does it being overturned mean he didn't take the steriods or that he did take them and didnt deserve to serve the suspension?

He failed the test, but there was a screw up in the chain of custody so the suspension was overturned.

Yeah, there's no doubt about the fact that he took some sort of PED, but because a mistake was made between the time he pissed in the cup and the sample went to the lab, he challenged that something could have happened to it.
He won on principal, but there's no doubt about the fact that he took something. He got lucky that somebody mishandled his piss or he'd be sitting home for 50 games.
