Freddie Freeman hurt his knee, and is getting it checked out today. Hopefully not too bad. Partially dislocated kneecap....but he's feeling much better today. Still sore but they say the amount of time he's going to miss is in the "days" range, not "weeks". So he should be fine in about a week or so.

Expanded Playoffs is a go for 2012. 10 teams will now make the Playoffs with the Elimination game between the two Wild Cards in each league determining who goes to the Division Series.

Still not sure how I feel about this. Of course it will more than likely give my team an extra shot (still trying not to give up early but I can't help it after last year) but it just seems unfairly forced. It's like when Hank was spouting off about how the 4 teams with the best records should be the ones to go to the playoffs. I don't know if I agree with either way, I kind of liked it how it already was, but of course if my team won because of it my mouth would be shut.

I like it....finally and incentive and an advantage for actually finishing 1st place and winning the Division.
So many years the Yankees won the Division only to get bounced by Wild Card teams because the Wild Card team had an equal chance, which isn't fair to the team that won the Division. There is a difference between 1st and 2nd place...they shouldn't be treated the same and have the same chance.
Now, the two Wild Card teams play an elimination game to see who goes to the Division Series and will likely be without their ace for Game one of the normal DS Series.
So imagine if you were the 1st or 2nd Wild Card, you just used your ace in the one game Playoff, and now he likely won't be able to be used again until at least Game 3 or 4 of the DS. Advantage Division winner.
I like it. People can cry about "oh, why don't we let EVERYBODY, then?" But realistically, the Playoffs only goes from 8 to 10 for ONE GAME.
I usually have a problem with everything.....but honestly, as a guy who I expect my team to win the Division every year anyway, I have no problem with this.

Not a fan of the expanded playoffs at all. It waters the races down a lot. Last year the Braves would've made it so their epic collapse would've meant nothing. The Red Sox would've made it too so their collapse is meaningless as well.

Every team in the playoffs SHOULD have the equal opportunity thing. Whine and cry about wild cards beating division winning teams as unfair but if the division winning teams were so damn good they should have no problem beating a wild card team. Seeing wild card teams win is a great thing about playoffs in sports because on any night in any sport, any team can win not just the same old teams every season.

I will cry that it's unfair when my team wins 100 games or more and gets bounced by some 80 win team because we slumped for 3 days. Finally something has been done to put the advantage on the side of the team that actually finished first and was good enough to win the Division.

Phils got bounced in the first round after winning 100 games. Why? Because they played like shit. I've seen little league girls swing the bat better. They didn't get bounced because it was "unfair". They got bounced because they sucked ass. Also because of Carlos Ruiz hitting .059. Seriously??? .059??? It wasn't "unfair" at all. The Cardinals outplayed them which wasn't hard to do since they played so poorly.

Of course man! That's my number one sport. Even above wrestling You better be a yanks fan :3 Funny you should say that. I was a Yankee fan for 24 years of my life. Not only that, I was a Massachusetts Yankee fan. I've been through and lived through it all. I am not a Yankees fan anymore. I have been a Dodgers fan since the beginning of last season and that's where I will stay. It was a big switch and took me a lot of nuts to finally come out and make (when you're a Yankee fan in Massachusetts you're pretty well known for it), but it happened and I couldn't be happier. I missed enjoying baseball, and I wasn't enjoying it. Now I love it again like I always have!

I have a weird, dysfunctional relationship with the Phillies. I spent my formative years rooting for them even though they only cracked .500 once from the time I entered elementary school to the time I graduate from college. I just got used to watching them getting their asses kicked year after year by the Braves. Now watching them embarrass themselves in the playoffs is rough.

Chip last time I did that TRW gave me a warning bar for avoiding censors :l And dodgers? ew :3 Ive been a yanks fan my whole life but Im also a nats fan ;O Haha yeah man, I'm sorry. In a nutshell I have my reasons but I absolutely hated what happened with Torre, I have always hated A-Rod and I got tired of not connecting with the players on my team. I knew it was over deep in my heart when they won in '09 and I had absolutely no reaction. I still gave it one more season, though. The off-season sh*t with Cliff Lee put me over the edge and that was the end of it. Mattingly is and will always be my favorite baseball player of all time so I used that as a perfect segue to just jump in to a new team. In the grand scheme what difference does a manager make but I moved to a team with great history, roots in the area I'm already familiar with and my favorite player of all time at the helm. I couldn't really ask for more. Of course when/if he moves on it will be odd for me, but I'm stickin' to my guns in that I am going to be a Dodger fan until my dying day. And I've already suffered through one season with them and it absolutely felt great. And I still hate the Red Sox even more than everyone else. I just hate the Yankees and the Giants now, too!
