In the off-season, at the beginning of the year, just as the season was soon to begin, they made arguably the biggest trade of the year, which was trading away Kyle Orton to the Broncos, meanwhile Jay Cutler came to his hometown of Illinois. Along with their new great running game, and somewhat a decent and intimidating defense, and the Chi-Town fans were thinking greatness. But they were forced to think again, as it was an extremely disappointing year as 7-9. But over the course of the off-season in 2010, Bears acquired the biggest free agent pick in recent times, as they got star defensive end, Julius Peppers. And their defense was looking solid throughout the pre-season, winning 1 of the 4 games. Despite going 1-3, they still did pretty good. Their most memorable loss was losing to San Diego Chargers, the final score 17-14. Despite losing, they did pick Rivers and Volex off 3 times that game combined. Can they put the 2009 Season behind and be better in 2010 with so many improvements, including a new offensive cordinator, one of the best ever, Mike Martz? Can they make an impact in the NFC? Find out as Chicago takes on the next season.

 September 12th, 2010 - Soldier Field, Chicago, IL"Defense gets it done, as Chicago enters year 1-0"
After a huge disappointment last year, the Bears came out, ready for battle, scoring on their first drive, going 67 yards in eight plays for the TD, off a 12 yard rush by Matt Forte. The Detroit Lions, as unconsistent as Chi-Town Bears are, they didn't stand a chance, allowing 14 points in the first half, and then getting a fumble and two picks, one by Stafford, and then Hill. Though they did manage to get a field goal, mid-way through the third quarter. As the Bears got the ball on the 20 via touchback, they put together 73 yards. 7 yards from the TD, Delmas, out of nowhere came and got the pick, eventually leading to a Detroit TD and a missed field goal to make the score in this one 17-9. No scores until later on in this game, in the early-mid part of the game, when Forte, who had 98 yards, prior to the safety he gave up. Detroit punted the ball off, allowing Cutler to nail a 45 yard TD to Hester as the score becomes 24-11. After trading blows and punts, Lions got the field goal, with 1:19 left. After that, nothing special, the game was over.

Final Top Stats
Cutler: 20/33; 277 yards. 2 TD and 1 INT.
Forte: 17 attempts; 103 yards and 1 TD.
Hester: 4 receptions; 63 yards.
Urlacher, Peppers, and Briggs: 23 tackles; 4 sacks and 1 INT.
Thoughts: This one was rather easy in my opinion, as I seen my team had no trouble. A great start to the year, as it feels good to rack up the first win in the first game of the season. Great all around and hopefully we can bring that into our game next week on the road, against a team with great expectations, the Dallas Cowboys, who are 0-1 right now. [/i] |

September 19th, 2010 - Dallas, TX
"Defense continues to look strong, despite heartbreaking loss"
What should be noted about the headline, was that they were horrid in the 1st half, but come the second half, they were amazing. In the first quarter, the Cowboys had already racked up 13 points, and that followed in the 2nd half, where by the end of it, the score was 20-0. Cutler, who seemed to be the Bears only hope, was 8-for-13, 85 yards, and 1 pick which was on the Dallas four yard line with 4:13 left, had to come out with some redemption. Come the third quarter, Romo and F. Jones worked up the field, which showed Romo's 34 yard gain, and a 12 yard pass. This had us thinking this game was over, here, but as they made it to the Chicago 23, Peppers blasts through on 1st and 5, and makes the near sack, but here comes Urlacher for the interception. Austin runs him down, but Briggs blasts by with a nasty hit, as Urlacher races to the 17 yard line, ran down by Jones. Cutler takes the TD in two plays, a HB Screen to Forte to make it 20-7. After they traded punts, Cutler, once again drilled a 87 yard TD to Johnny Knox, as it became 20-14. Cowboys came down, and looked for a TD, but a sack by Tillman put them back, to a field goal. Early in the fourth quarter, off a 54 yard pass to Bennett from Cutler, and a 6 yarder from Cutler to Williams, Forte took advantage, in four runs, going 21 yards, and finally a play action pass to Forte to take the TD, in order to come back, and make the score 23-21, what a comeback. Chicago makes more strong offense, forcing a 3 and out, with 3:11 left, on the 6 yard line. The offense comes out, getting an eight yard run, and then a -2 yard gain. Cutler hit a slant middle to Knox for 16 yards, as they slowly pace up the field, and they have :23 left, on the 35 yard line, Dallas's. Cutler gets one to Aromashadu, a 19 yard gain, and with :4 seconds, Forte attempts a HB Dive, he jumps and gets in, but he fumbles it up! Newman recovers the fumble, and gets the touchback, which seals it in a last second defeat!
Bears, 21; Cowboys, 23Cutler: 18/35; 380 yards, 3 TD and 1 INT.
Forte: 23 attempts; 111 yards (Receiving TD)
Knox: 2 receptions; 103 yards and 1 TD.
Hester: 3 receptions; 58 yards.
Urlacher: 11 tackles; 1 interception
Thoughts: Aw crap! So close. A fumble at the last second, that hurts. Next week, we got the Packers, who are 2-0, so I'm a bit worried. They did win this game in real-life, and Cutler is the leader in yards right now, with 657 yards, beating Rodgers' 613. It'll be Matthews/Urlacher in an anticipated NFC North battle, looking forward to that. [/i][/font][/center] |

September 27th, 2010 - Chicago Bears
"Cutler's bittersweet game is enough to defeat Packers in thriller."
This was simply put: the most anticipated game this year, so far other than maybe the Pats vs. Jets in Week 2. And it exceeded expectations. The first score came on the first play of the game, when Devin Hester returned an exciting 99 yard kickoff return for a TD. A-Rod came out, looking comfortable in the shotgun than all formations, as he got 12, 22, and 10 yard passes on that drive, going 3/5, for 52 yards on that drive, eventually leading to the field goal. The kicker kicked to the right, giving Danieal Manning the ball, instead of the dangerous Hester, but that hurt them as Manning pitched it off to Hester as he was about to go down, but as Hester juked off a defender, Collins makes him fumble, hitting him with a low hit stick of some kind, allowing him to recover and bring it to the Packers at mid-field. They managed to use most of the second quarter, to drag and eventually Rodgers hit Jennings on a sweet one handed traffic catch over Tillman for 17 yards and the TD. Cutler made his way out for the first time, on the 6 yard line, as Hester dropped the ball. Cutler made an impact, immediately connecting 8 of the 14 on this drive for 86 yards, leading to the field goal to make it 10-10. with 2:11 left. Rodgers took the field, getting pick off a curl play to Driver. Chicago was on their own 38, and Forte struggled majorly, getting the first 12 yard gain, and then -2 and -3 on the play. Cutler made the 18 yard gain, as they enter the Green Bay portion of the field, and with 32 seconds left, Cutler found Olsen, but after a vicious mid-air collision, Woodson caught a pick, and brought it to the Bears 14, as he was run down by Hester. They kicked a field goal, as they made the score 13-10 to score to end halftime.
Packers have taken all momentum, off scoring and now getting the ball back. Rodgers caught a fire this drive, getting 44 yards off a play to Grant, but was sacked by Peppers, then Urlacher. This lead to a 16-10 score off a field goal. Both teams this drive traded the ball, including two picks from Cutler, but Terrell Owens, who suffered a knee injury in Week 1 of the preseason came into the game, and dropped a curl pass. Rodgers marched down again, leading to a field goal. Cutler and the Bears needed to put something together, as the running game tonight was disappointing, Cutler dropped another 300 yard game, hitting Owens for 41 yards, and then Forte's 10 yard gain, and then his -2, which followed Cutler's TD pass to Hester sealed the deal. They went for the field goal, and as rarely as it sounds, Gould missed it slightly to the right as it hit the goalpost and missed, to some real anger from me and the fans. 19-16 was the score, and eventually, Gould got the FG to slip in with 1:12 left. This led to an overtime portion, as Chicago got it. And within 3 plays, Cutler got a 13 yarder to Williams, and excellent field position from Manning, this was easy, and led to a field goal, as they won this one, 22-19, in an exciting, nerveracking NFC North battle.

Cutler: 15/28; 323 yards, and 1 TD and 2 INT.
Forte: 19 attempts; 29 yards.

 October 3rd, 2010 - New Meadowlands Stadium - East Rutherford, NJ"Cutler's big night enough to lift Bears to 3-1
This was another highly anticipated game here tonight. Chicago has arguably the hardest schedule this year. This was a game of two hard-hitting defenses, two of the best in the league, battling it out here tonight. As the game began, Hester was back to return, and after sneaking through a crevice, it looked like he would've been gone for a big gain. But that wasn't meant to be, as he ran it back for a touchdown, but after a holding on Danieal Manning, they were back deep at the 13. No problem. Jay Cutler led the Bears to a drive which went 4/7 on his part, also getting 71 yards. He went in for the kill, but as Hester caught the TD pass, he was drilled in mid-air, allowing lineman, Usi Umenyiora to take the fluke interception. Cutler left the field to get on the phone. Eli also came out ready, getting 21 on his first play. But after a deep pass which was intercepted by Tillman, their drive ended. This is where defense came into play. Both teams moved the ball up the field, but were held to punts because of both teams' extremely good defense. Going into the half was 3-0, Bears way. Cutler came out ready to go, getting a drive, all his for 81 yards for the TD. 10-0, the Giants came out going into the fourth, 9-10 after getting three field goals. Chicago answered the call with another TD, from Cutler to Forte. At this point, it was 17-9. Giants got far down the field, but Smith had fumbled on the Chicago 6 yard line. 5 turnovers between two teams so far. As the fourth quarter rolled on, the final score was 24-15.
Cutler: 21/34; 3 TD and 1 INT
Forte: 14 attempts; 42 yards (Receiving TD)
Peppers: 4 sacks, 2 tackles.
Tillman: 1 interceptions, 4 batted down passes, 2 tackles, forced fumble. |

I'm really liking this man, as I just love stats. I have a feeling Matt Forte is gonna have a great year, even though he has cooled down a bit since his first two games. Keep this up, and I hope da Bears continue to do well this season.

October 10th, 2010 - Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte, NC
"Carolina giving up Julius Peppers; their biggest mistake. Bears blow Panthers away to become 4-1."
Carolina's former right end star, Julius Peppers now plays for Chicago was extremely dominant tonight as he pressured Matt Moore to going 13 for 33. Peppers finished with 5 sacks and an interception. Matt Moore was done for the game, which allowed the Panthers to use Clausen. Clausen had a decent game, but nothing to be thrilled about. They scored 3 in the first quarter. Cutler made his way up the field on plenty of drives, including a TD for 32 yards on a one-handed to Hester for the TD. Forte was extremely dominant, getting 61 of the 88 yards on the drive. The score was the 14-3 to end the half. Peppers, Urlacher, and Briggs, the big three were extremely ready for the second half, causing the Panthers a punt on four drives. Meanwhile Chi-Town was dominant, as Cutler finished with 4 touchdown and 1 interception. Forte also had 2 touchdowns and 151 yards. As the fourth quarter went on, Clausen threw a short pass to Williams, who broke off of Hillenmeyer to get a 21 yard TD. On the Chicago final drive, Forte ran a TD for 31 yards to end the game with the 35 point victory.
Bears, 45; Panthers, 10
Cutler: 17/29; 284 yards - 4 touchdowns and 1 interception
Forte: 16 attempts; 151 yards and 2 touchdowns
Hester: 6 receptions; 69 yards and one touchdown.
