Before I start this diary, I'd just like to especially thank two of the most talented and hard working guys on here - Chaz and Elliot. Chaz has been kind enough to provide the main graphics and Elliot has done me a huge favor in providing mock WWE.com updates. Thanks again guys. PS... It feels good to be back!

WWETomButcher Tom Butcher Officially a WWE Superstar!! Watch your back @WWEDanielBryan ;)
Mar 29 via Web So, it's official... I am a wrestler for World Wrestling Entertainment. After grafting and working hard in my local feds and eventually FCW, I have made it. I'm not sure of my path to television - whether it be NXT or straight onto the main roster... but we'll worry about that later. Today is a day for reflection. Reflection on where I've come to get me here today.
Born in 1987 in Chicago, my childhood was filled with wrestling. First it was guys like Hulk Hogan, Yokozuna and Razor Ramon. The bookshelves in the lounge room were filled with VCR's of RAW episodes my dad had taped for me because I was too young to stay up and watch. This planted a seed in me. I was going to be a professional wrestler. I was going to be the next Hulk Hogan.
As I entered high school it was "Stone Cold" Steve Austin who cemented my train of thought that I was one day going to be a WWE Champion. This guy had millions of people hanging off his every word, just because he was himself. Just because he was like every other blue collar American. He hated his boss; but the reason everybody loved him is because he had the balls to do the things they didn't. He swore and drank on the job and he beat the piss out of his boss. If he could connect to people worldwide for being... normal... then what's stopping me?
At the age of 17 I moved to New York with my family. When I got there I made the bold decision to attend wrestling school. I was like a deer in the headlights at first. I was a big and mature kid, but I still felt way out of my depth. It took a guy who had been at the training facility for 15 years to make me harden up and realize my potential. Greg Smyth has been working his ass off for 15 years to be a pro wrestler, but he's always been discarded because he's too short. He took me aside and told me that if I didn't do something about my God given talent, then it would be like spitting in the face of him and every other wrestler who has worked their asses off for years but just can't crack the big time.
My big break came in 2009 when I sent in tapes of myself to WWE's development territory, Florida Championship Wrestling. They accepted me in, and without hesitation I packed my things and moved to Florida for the long haul. Leaving my family and then girlfriend was tough, but I knew it had to be done. This was my destiny. Whilst at FCW I met a guy who is now one of my closest friends. Bryan Danielson, better known by WWE fans as Daniel Bryan. We hit it off right away; I believe because of our ruthless work ethics and our passion to put on great wrestling matches every night we walk through the curtain. But as we're the same in some aspects, we're so different in others. If we go out to dinner together I'll eat a steak with a beer and he'll eat a falafel with a glass of water. Regardless, we tend to spend as much time as possible together.
When Bryan was called up to NXT, and the main WWE roster in 2010 I knew I had to get there as well. I had to lift my game and make sure I was right there alongside him in years to come. In the past year especially I have gone out of my way to work myself to the bone, and today is reward for that effort.
As one journey ends, another one starts. You guys are on this journey with me...

Man, I'm really, really glad you're back. We always need some variety and you never fail to provide it. Easily one of the best writers ever, so I have high expectations for this. The first entry was fantastic. Love that you're targeting Daniel Bryan. Maybe your friendship with him will lead to some sort of tag team or even a feud. That'd be awesome. Very nice start to the diary. Can't wait for more!

After a massive weekend of events, I am finally one of the boys traveling the road. The dust of WrestleMania is starting to settle, and it's the perfect time for a young guy to step up and make his mark. A guy like me.
After being signed onto the main roster and traveling with the rest of the guys, I was flown over to Atlanta and invited to be involved with WrestleMania Weekend. I attended Fan Axxess and saw first hand just how important this event meant not only to the performers, but the fans as well. One of the most memorable nights of my life was the Hall of Fame ceremony. Not only did I get the chance to sit next to childhood idols Edge and William Regal in the crowd, but I saw my idol Shawn Michaels inducted into the Hall of Fame. Shawn's speech lit a fire in my belly and gave me chills, because I realized that I am just beginning my legacy in this business. I can be whatever I want to be.
WrestleMania itself was an experience I cannot even comprehend. Not even looking back can I put my finger on just how surreal it was to stand in the arena 5 hours before the event started and just survey the enormity of the show. Before the tens of thousands of fans filled the Georgia Dome, I had the opportunity to sit in the empty arena and watch the workers put the finishing touch on the entrance ramp and the ring. Most guys listen to their iPods or make a phone call; not me. I just sat there and took everything in. Every clank of the construction workers dropping hunks of steel onto the floor. Every explosion of the pyro tests. It was all part of my WrestleMania experience.
As the show started, I was in the main backstage foyer area watching on a large plasma screen with other wrestlers who didn't have the opportunity to wrestle on the show or who were a part of the pre show. I had the honor of sitting next to my good friend Bryan Danielson and picking his brain during the show. Although kinda pissed about his match being bumped from the card after it being advertised, Bryan's insight and thoughts on the show were invaluable. Another invaluable experience was being able to meet The Rock. Not only one of the best entertainers ever, but a genuinely nice and humble man as well. All class.
It is currently past 1 o'clock in the morning following the RAW after WrestleMania. I am on the red eye flight bound for Charlotte, North Carolina along with all the SmackDown wrestlers booked to compete tomorrow night at the tapings. Most are asleep or reading a book in silence. This weekend has taken a lot out of everyone and it is time to restore some energy.
The fact that I am on this flight gives me hope that I will be either in a dark match before SmackDown or best case scenario a part of the Superstars tapings. Time will tell. But until then...

Quite interested, which is odd for me as I prefer not to read perspective diaries. Liking the source of internet here though, wonder if you'll use a variety, such as Twitter, Facebook perhaps, and maybe YouTube. I'm quite intrigued, the storyline so far is quite good. Just hoping it doesn't go the fairy tale way and have you main eventing in the end though.

Loving it so far Mac. The entries so far have been well written and I'm liking the connection with Bryan Danielson. Hopefully you keep things realistic and work the midcard for a lengthy period. Can't wait to see more of this, keep it up Mac, good to have you back.

I too am interested that he is such good friends with Bryan, it would be cool to see something between the two happen, but if you're going to make it realistic to the WWE, they'll probably ignore that fact. Strange that he is good enough to be called up, but is only debuting on Superstars. Id figure they'd at least want you on one of the main shows doing dark matches. I'm not sure wether the WWE is confident in Toms abilities or not.
But aside from my critiquing, this is all very well writen and the graphics look awesome.

I can't wait to see how things turn out in this diary. Good to see how you were quickly called up to the roster, a bit unusual to debut somebody on WWE Superstars, but it makes more sense with Raw and SmackDown perhaps being too far out of reach just now. Like I said, any time you need more graphics, just hit me up.

Following one of the most exciting, eventful and sleep depriving weeks of my life, my first match on television has been broadcast to the world. I was able to fly home to my parents' home in New York on Wednesday after the SmackDown taping on Tuesday night in North Carolina.
Our schedule is a lot lighter following WrestleMania. What usually happens for SmackDown guys is we fly into a town on Saturday, do a show, drive Saturday night to a Sunday show, drive Sunday night to a Monday show, drive Monday night, do SmackDown on Tuesday, and fly home for a couple of days on Wednesday. Apparently the schedule allows for a lot more time at home than it did a few years ago, but it's still a lot more full-on than I'm used to. Getting used to recovering your body for the next night is all part of becoming a WWE superstar and I wouldn't have it any other way.
My match with Drew McIntyre on Superstars was one that I am really proud of. It was paced to perfection and Drew is a consummate professional. While he didn't hold my hand and walk me through the match, he knew that I would be nervous so he let me go at my own pace. I was happy with how the crowd reacted to a few of my variations of arm bars and leg locks. Hopefully I can keep improving that connection over the next few weeks and months granted I still get TV time.
I have never been so nervous as I was just before walking through that curtain before my match with Drew. I can't even imagine how nervous I'll be when (hopefully) I get my chance to perform at WrestleMania someday.

After the treat of spending this weekend with my family, I have received even more good news. I got a call from Brian Gewirtz when I was out to lunch today. He called to inform me that he wants me to wrestle Drew McIntyre again this week and our match last week was received favorably by WWE management. He's not sure if we'll be booked on SmackDown or Superstars, but he has promised me a match at least.
But there was more good news. I have also been invited on the tour of Europe next week. This is a big deal for me, as they only take a select group of 20 or so to tour overseas. Things continue to improve, and I can relax at my parents' house until the taping on Tuesday. Viva la Butcher!!

I'd like the mock WWE.com graphics if the fonts were more similar to the ones that are actually used. Other than that, I love it.
This is going really strong, dude. You haven't lost a step. It was definitely right for you to lose to McIntyre. I think going against a big star in your debut will be extremely beneficial to you in the future. I mean, it's not like you debuted against a no-name that people are more likely to forget. Smackdown debut so soon? Hmm, unsure of that. Love that you're going on the European tour. Can't wait to see what happens there.
Keep it up, Maccavich.

Can't say anything but good about this. I love every little touch you'd unquiley added to make this different to other first person diaries. I'm loving the slow build and hope we get some details about the europe tour. Good luck.

Highlights of the match between Drew McIntyre and Tom Butcher from Superstars are played as Josh Mathews and Booker T praise the efforts of the young man. They announce that Butcher has a rematch against McIntyre tonight. As they say that, Drew McIntyre's music hits. As Tom Butcher makes his entrance, the crowd pop when he is billed from New York.
Tom Butcher d. Drew McIntyre In a shocking upset, Tom Butcher in his second match on WWE television defeats former Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre. Butcher caught McIntyre off guard by using a plethora of counters that subsequently turned into submission holds. The crowd began to get behind hometown boy Butcher and give him some momentum, before McIntyre took control once again. But as McIntyre went for the Future Shock DDT, Butcher countered it into a roll-up and captured the 3 count and the victory! Butcher slid under the ropes quickly and began celebrating on the ramp as McIntyre looks at him from the ring with nothing but distain.
