And see, if it did work, you'd believe in the stuff just like me. My experiences have been more than just the board moving. If you and friends were making a joke out of it, I'm not surprised it didn't work either. There have been some people who have gone into it really wanting something to happen and nothing did, and there are some people who could give two poops and it works.

So demons/dead people don't want to send messages to those joking or who aren't totally serious about it? Why can't they do it without anyone touching the glider?

Thank you CF9, it's not something you can assume if you haven't used it. I am a full believer. I would love to hear some stories if you can.

well me and my mates were doin 1. when something weird happend.there were three of us at the time. and each person moved out hand off of the glider thingy once while the other 2 still had theirs on. it was still moving. one of my friends had a dead grandmother, who was aparently in there with us at the time. he was freaking out saying he could feel it. so we asked the spirit where it was and it turns out he was rite. at least we think he was he said she was behind him which the spirit also said it was :/ kinda freeky, it started spelling satan so we smashed the galss in the end

Me and my friend, I wanna say three years ago, were using the Ouija board. We always used it with the lights off and a candle, I don't know if anyone else does that. Anyway, we were in his basement and were using it, getting boring answers, nothing too interesting. We were in his back room that has no air conditioning and no wind flows through it. We ask it to give us a sign... two seconds later the candle blows out. We ran out of that room in two seconds. I stayed the night at his house that night, and in the morning we wanted to use it again. This time we went upstairs and went into his bathroom. Nobody home, if you wanted to know. We ask it the normal question, like "How old are you", "How did you die", things like that. I don't remember the details, because what happened later overshadowed it, but I believe it said it was 13. We ask it to give us a sign that it's here. We heard some faint knocks, but weren't sure if that wasn't just stuff around the house. We ask for something again, and all of the sudden we hear his answering machine beep, without the phone ringing. For the hell of it, we ask if that was him. The slider just moved to "Goodbye", rather quickly. That creeped us out enough, so we go out to the answering machine and check it. The message we heard was the creepiest thing I've ever heard. It was just a bunch of loud noises, sounded like feet shuffling, white noise and incoherent music. We check the caller ID... Unknown Caller. Nobody knew we were playing with the Ouija Board either. I'm pretty sure he got another message that was just like it about a week later, same thing as before. The phone didn't ring, the answering machine just beeped.

Interesting.
I, personally, have never used one. Probably never will. But I do believe they are more than a board game.

That is insane, I would honestly run home, and never go to his house again. lol.
No problem, I believe in it strongly.
This isn't a personal story, and I was told it a while ago so some aspects might be a little off. The person who told it to me was there though so it's not like a passed down story.
So these 4 college kids at Tufts university were playing with an ouija board, and the only thing that happened was it spelled out "Cult" then "Sewer" then it immediately said goodbye. They didn't think anything of it and put it away. 3 days later, they read about a local story where a cult member's body was found in a sewer, killed by other members.
Freaky.

If you do become a ghost after you die, it must be alot of fun to mess with people when they are playing with an oujia board.

I would never use one myself, but I do have a funny story. Me and about 7 other people went to go see Paranormal Activity when it came out, and after the movie was done someone brought up the Ouija board. So we all headed over to Target and bought one, and decided to just set it up in front of a Subway/Starbucks little strip mall thing. 4 people started to do it, with no real results, but about 5 minutes after, a guy came out of the Subway and told us to look at his receipt. The total? $6.66 We freaked the out.

These stories are a lot more interesting than the non-believers in this thread. I'm not really a believer in paranormal stuff but I gotta try this out!

I love these kinds of things, messing with the paranormal and whatnot, but I've only used a Ouija Board once and it provided little result
We did it lights off, candles lit and let it go. Of course after the initial pranks where people purposefully move it, me and my friends GF gave it a try and it produced the only real result of the night (by my account) I forgot the question, but it was something basic like "Is there someone here?", "are you a spirit?" blah blah, and it swiftly moved to "yes". I didnt move it because that joke was over, and I highly doubt the girl moved it because she was scared of it in the first place and didnt want to cheat it. It made me somewhat of a believer, but im not completley sold.
Otherwise there was alotta plaucibo crap that I had to debunk because if it's one thing I hate, its people claiming asinine stuff just so they have a story to tell. Cold air someone felt? The central air right above you. Flickering candle? Stop breathing on the damn thing. (thats stuff I debunked, not directing towards anyone elses stories.)

I believe there is about as much plausibility in contacting the dead with a Ouija Board as there is in taking a handful of Monopoly money into the grocery store and expecting to leave with a basket full of food.

I've used a Ouijia board and I believe in it. Truth be told, I'm into all that weird/paranormal stuff. I can see how others wouldn't share the same view, though.

I've done it before and it didn't work at all. We had a good laugh at how ridiculous people's claims are that it was black magic or poop like that. Why would demons waste their "time" with silly board games? If you want it to work, it does. If you don't want it to, it won't. That goes back to your mind controlling it. Why do you have to put your hands on it to begin with? If it could truly work then you should just be able to set it up and then the demon/dead person will move the glider and you'd be able to see their message. They're dead. Time is not an issue. Why do you have to put your hands on it? Again, they're dead. They're not physical beings. So I'd assume (don't know) that'd be the reason/excuse for why you have to touch it. I haven't tried one, but definitely would.

You have to have your hands on it because, as was said, the dead are not physical beings. They need a channel for which to relay their message. That channel is you. I've used a Ouija board before, and it is nothing to be so nonchalant about. You've never used one, you don't know. Don't just pass it off as a BS little kiddie game because it's not.

Clearly you missed the post where I stated I did use one. If they need to control something, why can't they take control of the glider? Why do they need human hands to do it? You are telling me that Parker Brothers sells a game in which during the course of playing it, we become possessed by a dead person who moves our hands?
