In my heart of hearts, I am hoping the Celtics turn it on like last year or like before February and displace the Knicks in 4,5,6 games with ease. Then again, if they cant, and the Celtics from the past 2 months show up, the Knicks can most definitely steal this series and or push the Celtics to 7 As crazy or as homerific as it sounds, this series will be the toughest for the Celtics out of any potential match ups yet to come because this is the series that will show which team will be in the playoffs. They have played a lot of games in the last 3 years, there is no doubt they are wearing down.. but if I know the Celtics (and being a Laker fan, you get to know them pretty damn well) they will turn it on.. they are scrappy s, fo sho

THAT'S the kind of play I've been dying to see out of Paul. He hasn't played like this all season.

I agree. The Celtics are still loaded with stars and a high powered offense.
Defensively things have changed but they are still capable of playing great defense. They just don't have the muscle in the middle anymore.
Jeff Green is the variable I'm interested in. He was trouble for the Lakers last year in the playoffs and they had a hard time with his speed.
Their 4 best players have 4 years of experience and that's priceless in these playoffs.
But they are going to have to control the tempo. If they play fast with the Knicks a few times; it's gonna catch up to them in later rounds.
Even if the Celtics beat the Knicks, the Knicks could take a lot out of the tank.

WILD WILD WEST
I think I was more surprised by the Hornets than the Grizzlies.

I'm not concerned about the Bulls' play and chances to go far in the playoffs. Flukes happen and Thibs is gonna have the team look at the film from this game and the Bulls will be ready to go game 2. I didn't catch the 2nd half of the game except for the final minute, so I missed the comeback. Bulls were a little slow at the start. Like STAT City said, the Bulls will toughen up on D and hopefully find an answer for Hansbrough. No way the series goes to 7. I still think Bulls in 5 with the Pacers winning a game in Indy. Yeah honestly I'm not too worried about the Pacers either. I damn near had a heart attack in that game, but after the way they fought back, and when Deng started getting physical and getting the crowd into it, I'm more confident in them then I was before it started. Thibs will have them working on their defense, and theres no way Psycho-T makes shot after shot like that again. Also I doubt they will be that successful from 3-pt range. Nice to see Hornets and Grizzlies pick up the upsets. Not as surprised about the Spurs, and if they are without Ginobili for any longer, I wont be surprised to see them fall to Memphis. The Hornets were much more surprising. Paul looked phenominal. Still dont know if they can beat them three more times though. Same thing happened in the first round to the Rockets in '09 and look what happened there. If Gasol actually shows up next time, I think they'll be fine.

Would be awesome to see both the Lakers and Spurs lose first round, but I expect them both to bounce back and advance

Chris Paul was brilliant today, he was picking LA apart. Jack played really well too, but I'd give their defense a lot of credit. Much deserved win. It'll be interesting to see how LA bounces back.
Even with Ginobili, the Grizz are going to give them fits. They have Tony Allen and Battier on the wing defending and doesn't get much better than that. The Grizz are also giving fits inside and I don't know if that problem is going to go away for them. Mike Conley is one of the more underrated players in the game too. I said at the beginning that this series is going six or seven games and I went with the Spurs, but man, an upset is very realistic here.

Melo lost that game with that stupid, selfish 3 point shot a few seconds into the shot clock when we had the lead.
Amare was single handedly whipping Boston's butt and Melo comes down and screws up the whole run by jacking that three... thus giving Boston an extra shot in the game... which resulted in... yea.

Melo's been taking stupid shots the whole game. He was on with his shots in the 2nd quarter but I don't know what convinced him to continuously take 30 feet shots.

at some point I was looking for his shot to fall so I wasn't as pissed about it in the 3rd...
but to literally interrupt Amare's onslaught was just stupid. Amare was dunking over Garnett and O'Neal, hitting the long rang jumper... and Melo just jacks a 3 pointer with like 20 seconds to go in the possession while we have the lead.
That was a gimme game the Knicks should have had. The Celtics fans were weak for a long time and practically dead. It sounded like a regular season game. Then they came alive late.
The Knicks actually played well on defense and had the offense running through Amare late. They weren't rebounding well defensively but what more can you ask for in that situation? Just keep working the clock and take good shots.

The Celtics should have lost, flat out. That 2nd quarter was one of the worst I have ever seen. The Celtics were rebounding but not scoring (passing too much, not driving) The crowd was deflated after that 2nd quarter (Surprising amount of NY fans there too), but it got pretty loud right after half time. I thought for sure, the Celtics were losing tonight, great that htey won but Jesus it was sooooooo ugly

Yeah Rondo had 2 boneheaded plays with the long passes, unbelievable.
Then again he had a great game with almost a triple double.
It was that he drove and passed or Pierce drove and passed.
The Celtics should have gotten Carmelo to foul, get him 3-4 right before half time or right after half time and go from there but they didnt.
Strange offense all night
