I can't believe Edge is retiring. This is some shocking news indeed! I've been out of the wrestling loop for awhile and what a way to stumble upon the WWE section!
I was always a fan of Edge, especially during his rise around MiTB time. The second he got his push as a heel, I became a huge fan! Hell, my username was based off of him!

I am not an Edge fan, he has always seemed pretty overrated to me. Good for him for getting out while he still could live a comfortable life though. That is what is most important here. It's a shame you have to damn near cripple yourself before you can retire and not be called a sell out though. Really, the only thing sperating The Rock and Edge is a neck injury. Anyways, It is great he will still lead a normal life. I won't miss him at this stage. It is time for the young guys to step up and take their moment. I am glad Edge did not get hurt to the point of being crippled or worse. To all the people saying they cried or they have not been the same since they've heard this...
Get over it and grow up. There are more pressing matters in the world today...and your lives then a wrestler retiring due to injurys. Some people take wrestling waaaaaaaayyy to seriously. Well, lost my job, wife/husband, I have cancer and aids and my parents died. But Edge is retiring and I don't know how I will go on. Some people need to get a grip. Yes, it's sad for those of you who favor him, but would it have been sadder to see him in a wheel chair all gimped out like Steven Hawkin because he did not know when to walk away? Edge earned the right to enjoy the rest of his life pain free. I only wish he could've gotten another year out fo his body to retire in toranto next year if they hold WM there. Now Edge...can you take Rey with you before he winds up in a wheel chair? Then don't post in this thread if you don't like him. This is a place for his FANS to remember his career and pay respect to one of the BEST in the business EVER. And who the hell are you to tell people how they are supposed to react? Edge HIMSELF was crying, but I guess it's only wrestling and he shouldn't have been crying over it either by your flawed logic. Where do you get off telling fans of the guy, who have been dedicating to watching him for the last decade OR MORE in some cases, that they can't be upset that he's gone? It's going to be strange for all of us true fans, not seeing him on television anymore. I'm man enough to admit that, yes, I did shed a few tears on Monday, and no doubt I'll shed them again on Friday when I watch Smackdown. Wrestling is a HUGE part of my life, as it is with just about everybody on WRESTLINGfigs.com message board. Even moreso, Edge was a huge part of wrestling for ME, one of the biggest reasons I watched. And I'm ing HEARTBROKEN to have to see him go out like this. I'm sure all of his REAL fans will agree with me. If you can't come in here and respect the guy and talk about his legacy that he has to leave behind prematurely, then don't come in here at all. We don't need it. No, this is a thread on an internet discussion forum, that anyone can post their thoughts and feelings in - positive or negative. As I said, Edge might be a great bloke and a great worker, but IMO, as a peformer he was overrated and he certainly is not going to go down as one of the "best ever in the business" - not as far as I'm concerned, anyway.

So yeah, I suppose you can post what you want, but nobody here gives a flying about what you have to say.

Taken from CM PUNK BETTER
"I dunno about you guys, but the retirement of Edge has hit me hard. He was one of the reasons why I begun to watch WWE, so to hear that he’s retiring at such a young age has made me think a lot. Edge is 37- he could’ve died if he had continued to wrestle, and I wholeheartedly respect and admire his retirement. At least he knows when his body can’t take it anymore (hint hint Hulk Hogan. That’s your cue to leave.) Now I want to do something special that unites fansites. I know that we all run specific websites to specific people, but at the end of the day, we’re all wrestling fans. We all have our favourite wrestlers, and one of mine has and always has been Edge. This is why I’m bringing forward the Thank You Edge Project. Yes the name is highly original, but the meaning behind it is what matters. The aim? To collect as many messages as possible for Edge thanking him for his WWE tenure. You’ll only have one week to collect them because I have a plan. Next week, I plan on giving a BIG scrapbook to Edge’s best friend, Christian, to give to Edge as a way of showing our appreciation. How to submit messages? You can email me via heyimshirlz@gmail.com, and if other fansites want to get involved, copy and paste this update into your site and let people know about this. I’ll make sure that we make this one of, if not the, BIGGEST fansite project ever done. Thank you for reading & submitting, and most importantly, THANK YOU EDGE!"

I'm happy for Edge because he doesn't need another run with WWE or any other wrestling company because of the injuries and the risk of another injury that could cripple Adam and he would end up in a Wheelchair. Anyway, I hope Adam Copeland has a happy retirement and returns to WWE one day in a non-wrestling capacity (GM, Road Agent, Manager) Thanks Edge for all the memories of your "RATED R" Wrestling Career

Edge was by far my favorite wrestler, and I didn't even realize it until now. I remember back in 2005 when he was heel, I went to Raw and he was in the main event against Batista. When Edge came out, he looked at my side of the crowd and was booed by nearly everyone, but I gave him a thumbs up and he gave me one right back. I'll never forget that. Thank you for all these years of amazing entertainment. We miss you Edge.

Of course HE has ever right to shed a tear. This was his lively hood, this is what he did for a living. It is what he dreamed of doing and most of all effected him to the up-teenth degree. So yeah, he had a right to cry. Some of you people though who are crying about it are babies and need to get over it. It is okay to feel sad and say it sucks that he is gone if you're a fan thats fine. But to cry is a little much don't ya think? So don't my logic is flawed when clearly you are not the one gving up your lively hood and this is in no way affecting you in any major way.

I've stayed away from this thread, but I may as well share my thoughts. Edge has been my favourite of all time for many years now. It's very rare for someone to be among the best on the mic. Among the best in the ring. and among one of the most popular stars of all time. Edge was something special.
What tears me apart is that, as he put it, he didn't leave on his 'own terms'. The guy wants to go on, but is limited by his body. It's a tragic thing to think about, but I guess one can look at this positively. The guy's in his 30's. He's still young, and can spend time with his loved ones now. Way too many 'veterans' of the company only get to retire when they've overstayed their welcome in the industry, and have already become washed up. Edge has retired at the top of his game; you can't say that for many in the business.
Still, as a fan. As an Edgehead for life. It's going to be real sad not seeing him on TV anymore. But I guess we can be rest assured that he can now enjoy his life free from the damage he inflicts on himself day in and day out, free from the pain.
thank you Edge (:

I've not always been his biggest fan but in the last few years he really grew on me and he was always someone I looked forward to seeing, he's given us some of the most entertaining matches in the last decade and that deserves huge respect.
Edge will definitely be missed.

it is real im afraid... he has spinal stesnosis whic is an abnormality of the spine... he is lucky he isn't parylised. well done to who spotted it early enough. As far as Ex rules goes... christian to replace him seems to be the logical "like for like" change. however mysterio n del rio would also put on a great match. its a shame someone like edge, who has been a loyal servant for wwe. with quite a clean record has to retire. when others who have brokn the rules several times manage to walk un touched a few names pop to mind... thank you edge...

On smackdown I felt really sorry for Edge, when he was with his mum you could tell that was the real Adam Copeland and there wasnt any character/script he just looked like an average guy who lived his dream and it was coming to an end .
