Honestly I think they should keep the retial Legends line as is and then also do some online only sets for the ones they don't think would sell at retail.
If they drop the legends line or make it smaller I'm going to quit collecting their regular figures.

The guys they are afraid are going to collect dust at retail should be packed less then the rest of the set per box and/or make online exclusives. I hope this "statement" and "announcement" is about upcoming lines. I am excited to hear what Mattel has lined up next.

I hope that the "Statement" is the announcement of waves 7 and 8, but I would be happy if the announcement was that it was going exclusively online at Mattycollector.com, I collect MOTUC and I like what they have done, they started with 1 figure a month and now they are releasing a lot more because the line has taken off, If they did that with legends that would be great, Maybe offer atleast 1 or 2 new figures a month, quarterly two packs and some repaints and different versions of previous figures ever couple months. That way we can keep this line going, It would be a shame if they were to cancel or merge this line with the elites as has been speculated. I for one will stop collecting if they merge it, I like the packaging of the Legends and I hope they get all the way to series 28 and then some.

Hopefully the statement is about how they're ramping up production on the line, as well as the next lineup or two

Before quitting the line they should really consider doing it MOTUC like! One new figure each month, online exclusive. Every now and then a 2-pack or even a 3-pack, rings, playsets, or whatever. I´m collecting the MOTUC figures as well and love their figure subscription service. I´d definitely sign up for a WWE Legends figure subscription!

Me three.
Definitely hoping the announcement will be some more lineups and getting more legends to us via the website. A tag team format on that would be ideal so a tag team won't instantly take out half a wave's lineup. Getting Doom, the Rock n Roll Express, Strikeforce, etc. on a monthly basis would be pretty fun.

hopefully its good news. I think they need to go back to 6 figures a wave and one Tag Team should be included in each wave.Lord Knows they have plenty to choose from. That would be great news! I'm praying that it is good news as this is the best line I've every collected. I'm scarred and exited at the same time.

No offense but i think Legends as an online exclusive is a stupid idea. Jakks sold 28 + lines of classic superstars if you count the csdas tags and 3 packs... All in Retail and Made a Killing.
So why would mattel want to make a few dollars selling online? they need to just market the line strategically with guys like the undertaker , hbk, bret etc. The Market is there for Legends, So Why Sell a few online when if you make better choices you can sell thousands upon thousands in retail?
i would love if they added extra figures of guys that wouldnt sell as well in retail as an online matty exclusive. But Come on guys, Legends belong in retail.... why would you want it any other way lol

If all Legends become online exclusives, I will never buy another one again. I refuse to pay 15.99 or more, PLUS SHIPPING. I would rather they ended it.

I'm with the two guys above me. I've never really been too found of making "online exclusive" anything when it comes to peoples way of collecting. If they make everything "Legends" wise "online exclusive's", then I'll, more than likely, never buy again either. I know alot of people normally give in and after awhile when their unlikely favorite has been made they give in and buy it, but for me personally, I refuse to pay high shipping costs just for maybe a few that i would buy anyway. As it stands now, I have bought the first four sets in complete fashion with no problem just because I LOVE the old school feel of collecting the "old timers", and I will do the same when Series 5 finally hits around my area here, again, with ZERO problem! But, if they make them to where you can only acquire them thru their own little online retailer site? No thanks!! I love the thrill of the hunt when I go into our local stores to see who they might have and who I still need to keep and eye open for. Even with Jakks Classics, if I couldn't find them in the store, I just did without, (minus the Powers of pain which my gf got me from Ringside one year for Christmas).
I also think just including 1 per series of Elites, or whatever else series they would package them in with, would be like a slow death to the idea of a Legends "line". And as previously stated, they would prolly, more than likely, stick to the "Legends" that today's audience knows and would buy and they would completely lose all focus of the 70's and 80's and even EARLY 90's stars and/or mid-carders.
As far as the two packs are concerned, I guess I'm ok with them doing away with it as long as we still get them as collector's. I had zero problem buying The Road Warriors and Demolition, same as I wouldn't have had a problem buying a single Volkoff or "Cowboy" Bob Orton. I DO, however, LOVE when tag teams are packaged together! To split them up kinda, in a way, loses it "special" feel of having a "team" in your collection, (unless you are not an MOC collector and you open them anyway, which I clearly am a MOC collector lol). Even if they dropped it to two a series maybe every 3 to 4 months, that's cool with me.
I guess as I end my lil' rant of wants and demands, lol, I really hope that any of the talk of the line dying, or quickly being diminished by making less and less per single carded set, is simply all rumors! I LOVE collecting, and with the Legends line my only line of doing so, it would sadden me greatly if the option to spend my money on figures of my childhood hero's was taken away from me. I anxiously await this announcement with higher than usual hopes! God bless everyone!

6 legends per wave please! 4 singles and the other 2 slots should be used for tag teams. Then, you distribute the 2 tag guys like the Hart Dynasty in E7; one half of the tag team per case. Sound good??? I want a complete old school tag team set up please mattel

yeah, not too thrilled with the idea of it going matty.com excluisve...
i mean,if a smaller, barely 6" Ghostbusters figure comes to $28 with shipping,i can only imagine these will be $35 each shipped....

It's gonna be good news thats for sure but what news thats what I want to know.If it would be the best of my imagination it's either there doing seperate Legends lines eg:Attitude Era Hogan Era ect.But what would be the dream for almost every collecter ever is if they settled a deal for an Owen Hart figure which tbh would make everyone involved a lot of money.

So far Series 4 has been the least interesting to me. I have ALL of the other Series in full (including Series 5), but I have no interest in Hillbilly Jim, George Steele or Ornorff, so I've skipped them.

I just hope that the announcement isn't something lame. I think it would be great if they said they are going to stick to their guns by releasing wrestlers from every era, not just the 90s and I hope they go back to 6 figs per series and maybe even with the fact that this line is getting more popular the return of 2 packs. I hope that they don't shift to "brand" names and keep putting out a good selection from every era. Thats what makes this line appealing to me, The fact that some people can get an heavily wanted figure like Eddie Guerrero or attitude era figure is great where as I will pass every time. However I will be buying every figure from the 80s to early 90s. mainly It would be a shame if we were to only get variants of the big names and leave the Junk yard dogs, Tully Blanchards and other wrestlers who are by definition Wrestling legends out of the line.

well really how many would they sell online? as opposed to retail... i really dont think this is going to happen and nothing indicates it will. Mattel said at toy fair they are going to Focus on more strategic wrestlers for the legends line. Sales of 4 and 5 imo look like they are doing well so that would strenghten the line.
after focusing on more strategic wrestlers for a while there will be play for the less obscure to enter the line, Once you have all your favorites, you want their competitors.
And the idea of putting a legend figure in the elite line is also ridiculous , Like ^ Said , it would be a slow death and they would more than likely only Put guys like the rock and scsa , hbk and taker in the line before it would die out from lack of interest, not too mention the modern day fans would lose a slot to a legend figure they probably wouldnt even buy anyhow
