I am currently in the middle of watching my new WWF RAW 1996 DVD set. And something I notice that bugs me is how they just throw matches together for PPV's, or atleast I think it's that way. I am not sure if they build it up at PPV's or on another show other than RAW, seeing as I am only watching the RAW's from 1996.
But anyway for example let's take King of the Ring 1996. Mankind just beat the Undertaker in a huge feud. The next night on RAW, while Mankind is fighting a jobber, all of a sudden Jake Roberts is commentating and will be Mankind's opponent for the next PPV.
And when Ultimate Warrior, after he beat Helmsley at Mania. They announced he would face Goldust, without any build at the time.
Why did they do this? I like how today when you start a feud it's because you get attacked or both men want to be the contender for a belt or whatever, not just thrown random matches.

I like thrown together matches
it's more real to me pretending there is a board of promoters putting together matches
I think they should bring it back and mix it in with feuds involving personal issues as well

they had like a board of directors, who would decide number one contenders and opponents of competitors. i used to like it, there was a sense of actual competition and business like procedure
