I just checked the guide on ESPN Classic, and I guess starting tonight at 1am, they're going to begin to play classic episodes of AWA from 1am-2am, so I guess this means they're aren't showing classic UWF anymore? Not a big deal to me, as I prefer AWA.

I think there's a thread about this in the other feds section (why, I don't know), but the answer is yes, they are replacing it. I'm perfectly fine with it. UWF sucked. It had tons of potential, but it was just wasted. I can't wait to see more AWA. I have a tape or two, so this will be great.

Last night was a keeper... they had Shawn Michaels (pre-Rockers) in a singles match, Scott Hall in a singles match vs. Doug Somers with Curt Hennig in Scott's corner, Bruiser Brody vs. Jerry Blackwell (short, but still cool to see Brody), and a Marty Jannetty interview where he says they're looking at doing a tag team with a guy named Shawn Michaels and call the team "The U.S. Express."
Good stuff... definite improvement from the UWF episodes!

Ya it was on last night and it was great. The opening match was Shawn Micheals vs. some jobber. From March of 86. Also Scott all, Curt Henning, Bruiser Brody, and a host of others were all on the show.

Awesome, I'll have to check it out. RIP UWF, even though I watched nearly all of the episodes as bad as they were.

Last night we got Stan Hansen vs. Jerry Blackwell from when Hansen was AWA World Champ, complete with both guys juicing and a postmatch promo from Hansen. Awesome!
Although I have one beef: I TiVo the show rather than watch it when it airs (I get up early for work). Two nights ago, the show didn't start until 45 minutes into my 1-hour TiVo recording due to an overrun on a PRE-RECORDED basketball game. I only got to see the first match and part of the second.
Last night was better, but it still overran by like 3 minutes. It sucks that even on a CLASSIC station where (presumably) everything that they air is old and the length/outcome is known, they still can't keep from airing overrun games that throw off their regularly scheduled programming by almost a full hour.
When a live game runs over, there is nothing you can do about it. But come on... a PRE-RECORDED game is going to run over by almost an hour, and they can't simply change the schedule or something? To me, that's lazy programming. Somebody had to know how long that game was before they aired it.

To me, that's lazy programming. Somebody had to know how long that game was before they aired it. I completely agree, I do the same thing. I usually have my Tivo set to record all the wrestling shows on a season pass. I had the time go over last nights episode though, but I didn't even bother to watch two nights ago, because I saw that ESPN Classic for some reason decided to show a basketball game that was recorded earlier in the day, and I fast forwarded like 30 minutes into, and just decided to delete it, and not even waste my time only seeing barely half the show. I was ready for it though yesterday, so I set the show to start around 1:28 and go on about 4 minutes extra, which luckily I did because the prerecorded Basketball game ran a couple minutes over, so I was still able to get the whole show. The Jerry Blackwell vs. Stand Hansen match was fantastic! I think the best show they've aired so far had to be the first one with Michael's AWA debut, and Scott Hall vs. Somers. Although, last night's episode had Curt Hennig match. By any chance do you have the date of the episode that aired the other day way-late because of the basketball game? I'm just curious of what one they showed.

The matches that aired before my recording cut off were Buddy Rose & Doug Somers (w/Sherri Martel) defending the tag titles against Jake "The Milkman" Milliman and Shad Bardaux (sp?) and Col. deBeers vs. Jesse Hernandez. Not sure what was after that.

DeBeers vs. Jesse Hernandez Nick Bockwinkle vs. Boris Zhuckov-Show cut off Bob Do you mean ESPN Classic actually took the show off in mid-episode to make up for the overrun from basketball, or your recording cut off there? If ESPN actually took the show off in mid-air, that's even lazier programming than I expected. Who does that?

The show started late because a basketball game and my recorder was only set until 2:05AM. The whole show aired because other people recorded the full episode.

I've seen Don Fargo wrestle 3 or 4 times already on these shows, and for the first time tonight I noticed that he has a swastika tattooed on his left pectoral. What a scumbag... I already thought he looked like one... so my opinion has only worsened...

Wow... I never noticed it either, but I went back to watch that episode after seeing this post. that is clearly a swastika.
I wonder if anyone ever complained to the AWA or ESPN when these episodes first aired.
