I'm thinking it would have been difficult for him to pull off unless he was one of the last few guys in there, and he managed to shoot on one guy at a time before the others realized what he was up to.
If he came out mid-match (like between #13-18) and started shooting on everyone, he'd only get through a few guys before everyone in the ring and ESPECIALLY the back would realize he went way off the script and probably send a few guys out there to dump him out.
Severn might have gotten some shots in, but if he were surrounded by 3-5 guys who knew he was shooting on them, they could get him over the top rope pretty easily, and then let building security/police get him out of the arena. The Rumble would be a really difficult match to pull off a shoot/doublecross and not have it backfire. Severn was a great fighter (especially compared to a bunch of wrestlers who don't fight for real), but if 4-5 guys decide you're going over the top rope and into security's arms, you're eventually going over the top.

I can't see how that would work, yeah in a normal match against an unsuspecting untrained fighter I could see him kicking ass but the Rumble match just isn't that type of match. Despite Severn's obvious ability he'd have been ganged up on & dealt with as soon as it was obvious what he was up to which would have been the second he'd have eliminated someone incorrectly

Only way I think it could have worked was if he stayed in there long enough and then started throwing guys out - but obviously Vince mcmahon would have changed the plans drastically and made sure severn didn't win

Just because he was in UFC doesn't he would automatically kick arse. I think if he managed to shoot on a few guys someone would figure it out and get him out, this only would of worked if he was chosen as one of the last to come in.
Also why would anyone pay him to do that? how would that benefit them?

Did he say the name of the person who offered him that money? His name begins with a "D" and ends in a "ana White"

He might of got away with it with a few lightwights and such, but im sure if the likes of JBL or Bob Holly was in the mix, he would of had a struggle on his hands.
What rumble was he in 2000? what other guys was in with him?

Severn wouldn't have been able to do much. Say if he managed to eliminate Meanie, Singh etc., what the hell would he do when Mabel entered ?

I looked it up, he was in the 1999 Rumble.
He entered at number 8.
Steve Blackman was at 7, already he would of had trouble.
After that tons of capable bodies came in, like Mabel, Kurrgan, Al snow, Goldust, Kane, Godfather, Ken shamrock, Billy Gun, Test, Boss man, Mark Henry, etc etc etc
I guess what i'm saying is there is no way Severn or any man could pull this off.
