For this week/month, lets discuss the Nation of Domination which ran from 1997-1998. I never liked the first NOD with Crush, Vega, and Faarooq as they were jobbed out all the time.
Then they began recruiting Kama Mustafa, Rocky Miavia, D'Lo Brown, Mark Henry and they were awesome. It also made the Rock go from being booed and no one cared for him to being one of the best heels ever.
I can't remember the 1998 NOD as I missed alot of 1998.
Still to this day, does any one know why Ahmed joined the NOD after he just had a year of fueding with them. It didn't make sence tbh.
So what are your memories of the NOD, good, bad?

I actually loved the whole NOD and then the Nation angle. It developed alot of the senior and younger guys - Gave Rock his big break, Gave Ron Simmons a break from being a stupid gladiator called farooq assad, Brought in D-LO brown who I think was an exceptional talent, Brought in Mark henry and also paved the way for Charles wright to turn into the Godfather. Also the black power movement gimmick was quite controversial and blended in very well with the whole transition into the attitude era.
Making the Rock the leader - was probably the best creative decision -as it made him stand out alot more - not playing 2nd fiddle to farooq and letting them handle DX the way he wanted. The decision to put Owen into the Nation was pretty clever - as he was fed up of being the good guy and loosing every match due to cheating from DX - so it gave him a new dimension as a very sour & bitter heel - who just wanted to hurt Dx anyway he could.

I liked the original version because they always had allies like D'Lo Brown, Clarence Mason, and PG-13 around the corner. When 7 guys of different races, 3 being in street clothes and the rest in African-pride attire, beat one person down, it looked like a legit mugging. Plus, I was always a Savio fan and his heel push was pretty good.
Then, when they turned around and got Maivia and Mustafa added onto Faarooq and D'Lo, they were perfect. Four really good wrestlers and a solid, still fresh gimmick (although I do wish Savio was still in the group). Once Mark Henry rolled around, meh, the group went to hell. Faarooq leaving hurt the faction because The Rock was fun, but he wasn't a solid leader like Faarooq had been. The 1998 feud with Degeneration X was good because of Owen, basically. He was so natural at that gimmick. After Triple H won the Intercontinental Title off of The Rock, that ended my interest. No title to keep the group afloat, no care from me.

the only period i missed was when Ahmed joined, i cant find ANY videos on you tube with him in the NOD. But what a stable that was, i loved it, the fact they fueded wit DOA and Los Barecuas (lol) that added spice too it. I agree with what happened with the rock and owen that one of you said up there, very good moves, and also kept it fresh (watching owen high five shamrock then kick him in the balls made me laugh so much when i was younger!) Its a shame they faded away, makes me want too see D-Lo again! best euro champ ever If any one could help me out with the Ahmed situation i would be thankful

I liked when they had PG 13 sing that rap song as their entrance.

I wasn't a fan yet when the Nation was around, but the image of Austin stunning D'Lo on top of a pick-up truck still sticks in my mind.

The Rock would have broken out with the NOD or without em. Dont get me wrong I LOOOVED the NOD I'm just saying I dont think anything could have held the Rock back no matter what he did and with who.

I have to respectfully disagree with you. If you remember, the WWF tried really hard to push Rock as Rocky Maivia and it failed. The fans rejected him and it looked like his career was over before it started. But, by putting him in the Nation, he was able to tell the fans how he truly felt and, through his interaction with Faarooq, the fans got to see his smug, cocky, pompous attitude that gave him the launching pad for his career.

But what makes you think he wouldnt have turned heel on his own eventually..... what im trying to say is he had the talent from the get and he didnt need the NOD to make him but the way it worked out he did use NOD to make it which is cool with me. My point being the NOD didnt make him.

SO no need to argue, yes the NOD led to his sucess which i loved. sorry if i said otherwise, my point was just that he had the talent from the get to be on top which eventually he did obviously lol
