My copy is from the original broadcast... not sure if it was ever officially released on VHS or DVD. Sometimes it's hard to separate the fact from the fiction when people talk about Andre the Giant. He was definitely a unique person who certainly could eat, drink, and lift more than a normal sized guy. But then again, not every legendary Andre story can possibly be true.
It's a really good biography, in my opinion, just to hear his friends and family describe his actions and his personality. They even talk about him having a daughter, which was never really made public until the A&E special.

That's kinda helpful information-wise, but i'd really like to see it. i met and hung out with the Destroyer, Dick Beyer a few years ago and he talked about traveling from Indianopolis to Chicago with Andre, DIck was driving and Andre got a case of 24 beers and put it with him in the passengers seat, he sat in the back one to have enough leg room b/c the front one had been removed, and 50 miles down the road, andre said "we need beer." and they stopped and got anouther 24, by the time the got to chicago, andre had drank 72 beers and the destroyer had drank 2.
still though, iwould love to know where i coudl watch this. even a place online that streams it or something

I actually think the Andre The Giant A&E Biography was released on WWF Home Video around 1999 or 2000... A&E still shows it every once in awhile too, just have to keep checking there guide. I know they just showed The Unreal Story of Professional Wrestling not long ago, so maybe thats a sign they'll show other wrestling related biographies.

WWE home video could NOT legally release A&E's biography. i would have been sold by a&e.com if anywhere, but is not listed as ever existing or currently for sale. WWE Home Video released a VHS of some of his old matches, but not the documentary i'm referring to. still hoping ot be able to watch it...but no luck

WWE released the video of the A&E documentary, here's the cover: I have the video, and it says WWF Home Video and A&E on it, and it's the same thing as the A&E Documentary, there isn't any matches on it, only the A&E documentary...if you still don't believe just search Amazon or ebay, you probably could order it for fairly cheap.

Aparrently Andre was too big to use a normal toilet so when he was on the road Tim White used to put a black bin bag in the bath and andre would do there and they would leave the hotel without clearing it up

Honestly I cried when I watched it about last year. I know it is weird to compare race to this but god was racist to Andre. The world was not or possibly will never be ready for a man the size and heart of Andre.
My dad told me I met Andre way back when I was a baby. My dad was at a grocery store and he said there was Andre the Giant and a ripped somoan man with no shoes and a fro (later found out it was Jimmy Snuka) and my dad said wow you guys are huge and Andre put his hand over my dads head and it covered it all. And my dad asked if he could by a polaroid camera and take a picture of me and Andre together. He agreed and took the pic. I look tiny in the pic. Andre and Snuka were buying a bunch of chips and munchees and Brew. (probably for the next town.)

I really liked the A&E story, but I'm even more pumped about the Andre book that is suppose to be coming out. I expect there to be some amazing stories in that.

When I was a kid, I was fortunate enough to be in the front row for a few of Andre's later matches. I remember being in complete awe that any man could be this large. He was like a living superhero to me.
Of course, today, we know that Big Show is actually taller than Andre was. But Andre still feels like a hero because of his legend, and because of the stories of his strength and his behavior. It's so funny, because I saw him in person a few times... but when I talk about Andre the Giant now, it's almost as if he never lived. He's become some fantasy figure like Paul Bunyan.
