Speaking personally, I just can not stand Orton, never have been able to. Literally my least favourite guy on the roster right now so it's salt in the wound that he was the guy to take the title. Especially as they're both faces, it's so degrading to Christian.

I agree with the Orton hate being stupid, hell, I'm not even angry at him. End of the day, as much as I would've loved Christian to get a good, long reign, fact of the matter is that Orton is a hell of a lot more over than him, as shown last week on Smackdown.

I know I get accused of having a "holier than thou" attitude around here, so I'll say this and be done with it. But I've met a lot of wrestlers, and I don't mean 20 seconds at an autograph signing either, I mean sitting down and chatting with them in-depth.
One thing I noticed very quickly is that the fans know more about the TV show , and take the TV show way more seriously, than the wrestlers themselves.
I asked one guy about being bumped from the Wrestlemania card to the pre-show, and his response was a laugh followed by "Hey, I still got that Wrestlemania payday and only had to work 25% as hard." On the other hand, the internet was in a blaze of complaints about disrespect, insult to the wrestler, blah blah blah. And ironically, the guy himself didn't care.
I've had countless wrestlers who can't remember when they won a world title, or when a supposedly "huge" feud took place in their careers, while fans burn those dates into their brains.
There's an in-joke called "That was a good one" because fans will often say to wrestlers "I saw you in New Hampshire the night you won the title!" or "Remember when you pinned Rick Martel and became number one contender?!". The wrestler usually has no memory of it at all. It was just another night, just another payday, but so that they don't hurt the fans feelings, they'll say "That was a good one." Listen out for it.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't care or be passionate about wrestling. I'm simply saying that when I read posts that say stuff like "I had tears in my eyes when I heard Christian's dream had been destroyed by that MF McMahon" and "F you Orton, I'll never watch you again!!" it just makes me laugh because I know the odds are that Jay Reso is perfectly happy and healthy, he got his payday and his moment, and he'll probably have it again someday.
So no, I'm not sneering at fans or mocking their emotion, but I am smiling a little because it really isn't the catastrophe that everyone is making it out to be. It's all storyline.

Thing is though, Orton getting put on Smackdown and totally outshining Christian in terms of reaction pretty much spelled the end for any decent title reign he may have had. You can't have your world champion playing second fiddle like that.

You can't have your world champion playing second fiddle like that. Yeah, you're absolutely right. Orton fans totally outweigh Christian fans. However, turn Orton heel and put him in a program with Christian or don't draft Del Rio, give him the title. As it was, WWE made themselves look like utter fools and as it has happened, totally kicked Christian in the nuts. Great post. To play devil's advocate though, title reigns are how I (as a fan) perceive wrestler's being rewarded. I don't care whether these guys were on the same paycheck Tuesday night, to see one of my favourites be pushed aside in favour of Randy Orton is a total blow. I can only judge what I see on TV.

Do you even understand what sets it apart from other sports/shows? Evidently not a clue. They create these characters and stories to sell the the FANS. All of US.That's what their entire product revolves around and has for almost 40 years now. Be it the 6 year old decked out in Cenation gear or the 20-30 year old wearing the Zack Ryder shirt with the Nexus armband, we're all one in the same, we're all fans. We support these guys and get excited for them when their characters reach pinnacle moments. Fans wait months for vindication. Cena to overcome Nexus, Jeff Hardy to finally win the big one, Stone Cold to finally get his hands on McMahon, Hogan to finally slam Andre. Christian has consistently been that guy that has a strong fanbase, performs well as a heel or a face, and never fails to deliver. Everyone around him, all those guys that would "never make it", Edge, Jeff, ect. eventually reached their peaks and had their moments. And when Christian's finally comes, it's stolen away from him in a literal instant. 5 days. Do any of us know the reason? No. Maybe there's a perfectly logical explanation, maybe it's an injury, a contract dispute, personal reasons. Maybe he's moving onto evem bigger and better things as heel soon. Or maybe he just got plain ed because Vince wants to sell "VIPER" and "RKO" t-shirts and Orton action figures. We don't know yet, and may not for a while. But please, step off the soap box, you're not as intelligent as you think you sound calling everyone "marks" for reacting EXACTLY how they're intended and supposed to react.

Well I had no clue that being practical and realistic was seen as so insulting and condescending to you sensitive bunch.
Here, let me retract my statement, backtrack and be more like some of you:
OMGODZ!!! I'm going back to bed, they robbed him!! They robbed the poor bastard!! WWE you can stick it, you've broken Christian's dream and I'll never forgive you for this!! EVER!!
Better?

You've got to love how some people seem to think they're "More than just a fan"
End of the day, whether you like it or not, whether you'll admit it or not, everybody here is just a slightly different type of mark. And honestly, I'm happy that way.
