I think it's because Mattel aren't using the most iconic looks and attires. For instance, the first set was...
Sgt. Slaughter Dusty Rhodes Steve Austin Ricky Steamboat The Road Warriors
Slaughter was in his old AWA attire, that most people probably don't remember him in. I know some people wanted this version, but I think it would be smarter to get his more iconic WWF Camo look out of the way first. Same goes for the Road Warriors.
I appreciate Mattel for thinking outside of the box and giving the adult collectors something different, but it's probably not the smartest idea, business wise.
I'd hate to see the Legend's line go out before they get a chance to release the more anticipated versions. Do you think this is why the Legends line hasn't really taken off?

attires as well as roster selection. Austin flew off pegs, but Dusty even in his iconic attire still sits at my Kmart.

I'm sure if series one was Undertaker, Bret Hart , Austin , Camo Sarge, Red L.O.D then it would have had a happier begginning but really mattel can turn this thing around with 2 or 3 strategic series. And there's still plenty of big names to choose from . With Andre and Bret on the Horizon and official Legends figures of Undertaker , Kane and Hbk still not released but on contract, They have everything they need to fix the line.

Bret, Andre, Guerrero, & possibly a Shawn, I can see them turning it around.

We have already established this. Also the price doesn't help either. There is a reason that the last two Legends sets(4 and 5) have only been found on Mattelshop. I know a few Kmarts got in Legends 4 but I don't recall hearing anything about TRU or Target getting the Legends series in.

I'd like Mattel to retry some of the Legends in their more iconic attires. Instead of taking up a full series of repaints, which would be a bad thing to do so early in the Legends line, they could make a special 2011 "Signature" series of:
Sgt Slaughter (Camo) Ricky the Dragon Steamboat (WM3) Superfly Jimmy Snuka (Barefoot with striped trunks) Legion of Doom Hawk (Red Armor) Legion of Doom Animal (Red Armor)
This is something that the Hall of Fame series should've been and what they did right with the All Stars sets.

I think alot of the problem is that we are seeing the same characters from Jakks CS. Sure we got Macho Man & Steamboat, but really how many more of some of these guys do we need?

I don't know, they sell very well around here. It only took Walmart about two weeks to sell out out series 4. The other stores don't sell that fast, but they also don't get as much business in general, so it makes sense.

They need to release the damn things in the UK its ing stupid that they don't, They release very other line over here but not the legends. I mean jakks at leased released the single packs of classic superstars in the UK. I just do not understand mattels resoning for not bringing them out in the UK has it ever been said as to why they have not.

This point has been made to death. Most will concur that it is at least partially to blame.

Apart from the attires there's really nothing wrong with the line. But if they want more interest and to get the line going your absolutely right they have everything needed to get the interest back!

I can't believe someone didn't buy a Hawk or Animal figure because they weren't in LOD red. Hawk and Animal have been gone for awhile in my stores. But I'm one of those people who still think Legends sold a lot of pieces and its Mattel's fault for overproducing. At least their outfits matched this time. Right Ja--- eh never mind.

although we all talked about this alot already.. i cant believe UK and other countries REALLY dont get LEGENDS in RETAIL?? WHAT? the UK? CANADA? if this is correct, there are hundreds of thousands.. millions of fans who watch RAW, and have been watching on sky for Decades.. out of those over 80,000 fans at wembley in 92.. or over 60,000 in toronto at skydome..
Was Jakks CLassic released in UK and Canada ?? if so then mattel legends So SHould Be.

wtf I'm all for Legends topics, but seriously - there is a 27+ page thread already on this... No suggestions mentioned here are new or different from the hundreds of posts in that thread.

There's more to the story then I think we're being told. The fact we blame it on attires and lineups, yet the "nobody wanted them" Road Warriors cant be found anywhere but on RSC and the ever so popular, lets take advantage of him being on TV, The Rock is being sold for half price at dollar stores......tells me something is fishy.

Bret, Andre, Guerrero, & possibly a Shawn, I can see them turning it around. Agreed. This line-up will sell well.

This point is blown up by people who never watched anything but WWE.
The Road Warriors were the biggest tag team in Wrestling way before they wore red spikes at Summerslam.
However, I dont think Sarge would be that popular in anything other than with an Iraqi flag and purple winged eagle. That would have sold well because its controvertial and different, but not likely to get the Iraqi flag on the shelves in Walmart.....
