1996 was all about the nWo, 1997 was all about Sting and then 1998 was really the culmination of both. After 98 they should have moved on but didnt and from 99-01 they sucked. Lets be honest though what would you rather seen around 1997? Dean Malenko vs Eddie Guerrero or an arm wrestling match between Sunny and Marlena? Would you rather watch The Outsiders vs Giant and Luger or Godwinns vs New Blackjacks?? I just think WWF was boring in the early stages of the attitude era

97 was Definately WCW's Year, but they could have done sooooo much better.

I remember reading sites back in the height of the Monday Night wars and one of the people I read actually kept track of bell to bell action and at its worst Nitro & Raw were averaging 15 minutes of actual in ring wrestling. That was pathetic for a two hour show and when Nitro added another hour at one point the wrestling content only went up by 5 minutes. I couldn't stand that era in wrestling. Pretty much all of the Televised 90's wrestling was a write off to me, The PPV's usually did not disappoint though.

Looking back I guess it doesn't look that amazing when you see footage of the nWo now, but back when it was happening people were hooked and intrigued by the nWo, it was the not knowing what ws gonna happen next was what kept people watching. Plus like blu3blazer said the different styles that were on show, WCW never seem to limit what when on in the ring, people could just do there thing, unlike the WWE now that tells you not to certain moves and to wrestle to a certain style. CM Punk a prime example of the "WWE way of wrestling" That's the main reason I get so bored with WWE now. Every match is exactly the same almost. Even the Cruiserweights are limited to working a slower style. ^ Took the words right from my mouth about the current state of WWE. Right up until about 1999, every WCW Nitro was a must! After that, WCW started to get a little stale and went downhill from there for me personally. But basically i kept watching WCW for the different styles of wrestling and also in hopes of some new storyline and angle that would turn WCW around. Sadly, it never did happen.

I think I watched WCW to the end because it was like watching a really bad B movie. You couldn't help but laugh at it.

How was the nWo "boring"? It was one the best storylines in the history of the business. Sure by 1998 they didn't know when to split the nWo up but from 1996-1997, the nWo was the best thing going on in wrestling.
